Tom Holland’s Spider-Man movie series is expanding with another installment after the grand success of the third movie Spider-Man: No Way Home, it was the ultimate treat for Marvel fans. Now, the upcoming Spider-Man movie, as speculation dictates, is going to be more grounded with a bit of multiversal touch.
Tom Holland stars as Peter Parker/Spider-Man in Columbia Pictures’ Spider-man: No Way Home.
If not multiversal, Spider-Man might go to its classic root, to its classic villains— Norman and Harry Osborn. New speculation recently suggested that fans could see Dune star Timothée Chalamet making his Spider-Man debut playing a villainous Harry Osborn and in this case, Kevin Feige might hire one MCU star again, this time for the role of Norman Osborn.

Simply put, Brazilian motels are places for people to have sex. Everyone knows it, no one objects to it. You pay by the hour and the suite is yours––a big bed, porn on-demand, bring red or blue lighting to illuminate the bodies as they merge––to fulfill your carnal needs. As well as a haven for horny people in transit, the motel is a place to return to and consummate a bond that deepens with every sexual act. Brazilian director Karim Aïnouz zooms in on one such location in Motel Destino, his sixth Cannes entry thus far, and second in the Main Competition. The northeastern coast of Ceará is where the film takes place. The cinematic version of Aïnouz’s home province glistens under the scorching sun of the equator, the sea lapping at the sand while crime is still what a lot of people do to get by:...

Remember when Tony Stark made an evil robot and everybody got mad at him? In Atlas’ case, it’s most likely that people will hate the makers more than the characters. Known for making big-budget films on disaster and apocalypse, director Brad Peyton imagines a world where a renegade robot breaks free of its programming and takes over every single machine that is run by artificial intelligence. Jeniffer Lopez stars in and as Atlas, Netflix’s latest attempt at making a sci-fi. Atlas starts with great promise, but despite the presence of a stellar cast, it’s Lopez who has to do all the heavy lifting. Her interactions with the AI assistant soon get monotonous and leave very little emotional impact. In this article, we are going to be discussing everything that happens in this new Jeniffer Lopez starrer.

Harlan Shepherd is a robot created by Val Shepherd to improve the quality of life for human beings. That was the idea, and Harlan should’ve been a friendly robot using his artificial intelligence to help his maker and her species. Instead, Harlan makes his name as the first AI terrorist in the world.

Since it’s time, you might be thinking of watching the latest Jenifer Lopez-starrer sci-fi action flick, Atlas. The good news for you is, this movie is not just about Lopez. Atlas is an average but entertaining action flick, with some solid actors making up the ensemble cast. Without further ado, here’s a quick guide to the characters who appear in the movie.
Jeniffer Lopez as Atlas
The international pop star isn’t done with stardom yet, and she stars as Atlas, the titular character of the movie. Most of the film is focused on Atlas, as she’s the one who is out for redemption. Being the only survivor out of all the highly trained Rangers, Atlas must make her way off Gr-39. Her only companion in this is Smith, the AI assistant of her Arc suit. Those look for a libido-juicing kick at this year’s Cannes Film Festival surely found it in “Motel Destino,” the sexually explicit erotic thriller from Brazilian director Karim Aïnouz.
Competing in the main competition once again after “Invisible Life” and “Firebrand,” Aïnouz returned to his native Brazil to shoot this perverse psychosexual triangle about the owners of a sex motel along the country’s northeastern Atlantic coast, and the criminal drifter who disrupts their lives. The wild-haired Dayana (Nataly Rocha) operates the Motel Destino with her abusive husband Elias (Fábio Assunção), where she takes up an unhinged affair with Heraldo (Iago Xavier), and amid nonstop sucking and fucking, plot to kill Elias in the grand tradition of the great noirs. Except it’s a noir with a post-Hays Code, liberated twist that has rocked Cannes with its strong, pervasive sexual content, to use the language of the American Motion Picture Association’s ratings board.

One of the favorited Brazilian filmmakers of the Cannes film festival with Madame Satã (2002), O Céu de Suely (2006), and winner A Vida Invisível de Eurídice Gusmão having all premiered at the fest’s Un Certain Regard section. Adding Special Screening selected Mariner Of The Mountains (2021) and last year’s Firebrand, Karim Aïnouz makes a quick Croisette return with Motel Destino. Iago Xavier, Nataly Rocha and Fábio Assunção are in the lead roles here in this film noir.

“I feel really good about it,” Spiridakos tells Deadline about Upton’s conclusion. “Gwen told me her idea to send Haley off and I was excited about it. I love that it’s just so different from what we’ve seen her go through in the past; it’s this really happy send-off for her and I absolutely love it.”

Motel Destino, directed by Karim Aïnouz, begins with a burst of energy and intrigue, setting up a promising neo-noir thriller set against the vibrant backdrop of Northeastern Brazil. The film follows Heraldo (Iago Xavier) and his brother, whose favorite pastime of beach outings and capoeira practice belies their darker side as petty criminals indebted to a local madam. Their latest assignment — a high-stakes murder — plunges them into a realm of danger and desperation. However, despite its gripping start and lush cinematography, the film ultimately loses its way, bogged down by a sluggish middle act and narrative inconsistencies.
The brothers are tasked with assassinating a Frenchman in exchange for freedom from their debt. Before the mission, Heraldo decides to unwind at a nightclub, where he meets a mysterious woman who leads him to Motel Destino. After a night of passion, he awakens to find her gone, his money stolen and himself locked in the room.

Nihilism and neon-popped lust collide in Brazilian filmmaker Karim Aïnouz’s Portuguese-language “Motel Destino,” set in a love motel so sordid that lay tourists should best avoid it, and only criminals and castaways are likely to check in. The “Invisible Life” director’s steamy psychosexual thriller set in the sweatiest armpit of the equator speaks melodrama and noir but with a Brazilian accent, Aïnouz returning to his home state of Ceará to shoot on his own turf for the first time in five years. The writer/director lifts from classics such as Lawrence Kasdan’s “Body Heat” and Billy Wilder’s “Double Indemnity” but also from ‘70s Brazilian sex comedies to tell a perverse yarn of extramarital betrayal turned murderous. But while the pre-“Body Heat” noirs he’s channeling could only suggest rather than spell out sex, Aïnouz goes graphic — and relentlessly — in an arthouse-only erotic genre piece that...

Elias Voit is not making things any easier for our favorite profilers just because he’s behind bars.
The first trailer for Criminal Minds: Evolution Season 2, aka Criminal Minds Season 17, has arrived, and it’s juicy!
Voit isn’t letting his encumbered status stop him from annoying the hell out of the team; he’s also getting in on the crime-solving action.
The trailer definitely gives us Hannibal Lecter vibes.
Everyone who watched Silence of the Lambs knows that Lecter was a crucial, if shocking, ally to Clarice Starling as she solved one of the bureau’s most difficult cases.
(If you haven’t read the Thomas Harris book or seen the movie, please do so.)
The new Criminal Minds: Evolution trailer reveals a seasoned unsub with a specific calling card is getting away with murder.

The recent success of Netflix’s original animated ventures didn’t happen overnight, and a lion’s share of the credit should go to some of the streaming service’s earliest animated titles, Castlevania and Blood of Zeus. While the first one redefines the established game lore of the same name with a quasi-historical setting and modern sensibility, Blood of Zeus depends on the age-old formula of demigod legacy, challenging the established status quo of the divine creators, inspired by legends like Perseus or Hercules.
Free from the burden of stringent adherence to a singular lore, Greek mythology is effectively a treasure trove for experimentation on character dynamics. The makers of Blood of Zeus utilized this aspect in the best possible way as they took viewers through the journey of Heron and Seraphim while navigating through the world of gods and monsters, questioning the humanity of the associated characters the whole while.

Written and illustrated by Synecdoche, the Plus-Sized Elf comedy manga is one of the more interesting titles on the market. The original manga ran from 2016 to 2021 and was collected in 8 volumes, but it was continued in 2021 with a sequel manga, Plus-Sized Elf: Second Helping!, which has three volumes as of the time of writing. This is a very special series, and we know that an anime adaptation is on the way.

“Ghosts” hit another landmark on Thursday night, as this week’s episode of the hit CBS comedy revealed the truth behind Flower’s disappearance — while also, on a much more profound level, explored the truth behind Hetty’s death in 1895.
In the episode, “Holes are Bad,” when Sam (Rose McIver) and Jay (Utkarsh Ambudkar) go away for the weekend, the ghosts are left alone — and discover that Flower (Sheila Carrasco) hadn’t been “sucked away” to the afterlife as they thought. Instead, she’s been stuck at the bottom of a well, and had no way of getting out of it.
While they’re gone, Sam and Jay had hired a contractor to fill the well with concrete — which would have left Flower stuck in there for eternity. But with no way to contact Sam and Jay (their efforts to FaceTime the livings fails), the ghosts struggled to find another way to save her.

While they’re gone, Sam and Jay had hired a contractor to fill the well with concrete — which would have left Flower stuck in there for eternity. But with no way to contact Sam and Jay (their efforts to FaceTime the livings fails), the ghosts struggled to find another way to save her.

Holes are bad, Thursday’s episode of Ghosts tells us, because spirits can’t climb up the sides. That doesn’t bode well for Flower, who’s stuck in a well. But Hetty also found herself in a hole of sorts, with no way out, while still alive.
In 1895, Hetty learns that her husband Elias has disappeared and all his legal troubles now fall on her shoulders. When the police come knocking, Hetty sequesters herself in the library, where they recently got one of the first phones in the area. In the present, she claims that she died of an...

The second season of “The Ancient Magus Bride” signaled a U-turn in terms of setting, something that was actually a necessity considering how the first season ended. The result is somewhat mixed, with the season starting really slowly, but definitely compensating in the second part of its 24 episodes.

Considering that the first season ended in a way that could have well concluded the series as a whole, seeing where the story moves after that is intriguing by itself. Let us see where the whole thing leads us.

Palestinian director Hana Elias’ “If These Stones Could Talk,” which follows a Palestinian man’s return to his homeland to restore his family’s ancestral garden, and Argentine filmmaker María Silvia Esteve’s “Mailin,” about a woman’s painful struggle to overcome her childhood trauma, took the top prizes at the Thessaloniki Documentary Festival’s industry award ceremony Wednesday night.

The concept of ‘the beauty and the beast' is one of the latest, minor trends we have seen being turned upon its head in the anime world with titles like “Somali and the Forest Spirit” being one of the most renowned titles. Before the Satelight and Hornets produced series, however, there was another title in the category that moved quite further away from the original source,: “The Ancient Magus Bride” based on the manga series written and illustrated by Kore Yamazaki.

Young Hearts is a sweet-natured coming-of-age drama that sees its 14-year-old gay protagonist Elias (Lou Goossens) coming to terms with this sexual identity after he realises he is attracted to his new neighbour Alexander (Marius De Saeger). Writer/director Anthony Schatteman - who won a Kplus Special Mention for his film from the youth jury in Berlin - drew on his own teenage experience for the film, which emphasises romance and is aimed at a younger audience. We caught up with the Belgian filmmaker to talk about young love and being yourself.
It seems this is a very personal story for you, not just emotionally but biographically?
Anthony Schatteman: That’s right. Initially, I really wanted to make a movie for the younger version of myself, because when I grew up, I had some questions about being an...

Since Frieren has lived for hundreds, or maybe even thousands, of years, the passing of time isn’t that big of a deal to her. Ten years, fifty years, none of it mattered… until human mortality came into effect. That’s when she paused to really reflect on life and the human experience, realizing how short (and precious) it is. Frieren: Beyond Journey's End actually starts at the end of an adventure, leading to the passing of the old heroes of Frieren’s party. This sparks the adventures of the titular character further, most notably, her taking in a young girl named Fern as her apprentice. Together they embark on a new journey where they begin to understand human emotions, discover the meaning of life and garner magical knowledge. Casting directors take note: Lou Goossens in this first feature film role is an actor to watch out for, naturalistic and able to convey subtle shades of inner turmoil, despite his young age. Goossens plays Elias, a 14-year-old living in rural Belgium with his loving and mostly normal family — the slight exception being his father, Luk (Geert Van Rampelberg), who, while a pretty straight arrow in a personal sense, is enjoying unlikely success as a midlife pop sensation, with a hit single in the pipeline.
The film opens with dad belting out his signature number, which is all about how “first love lights the fire in your heart,” which of course turns out to be a decent summary of the film. Shortly after, the family get a new neighbor in the form of Alexander (Marius De Saeger).

This coming-of-age drama gently probes the insecurities experienced by a teenager as he explores his sexuality while, thankfully, not representing him as some sort of tragic figure as is still so frequently the case in cinema. It may be a little sentimental at the edges, but the heart of Anthony Schatteman’s film is in the right place.
Elias lives with his mum (Emilie De Roo), dad (Geert Van Rampelberg) and older brother in the Dutch countryside. Life is fairly unremarkable, save for the fact his dad is a semi-famous singer. Generally speaking, Elias kicks about with his gang of pals, including his sort-of girlfriend Valerie (Saar Rogiers) in between visits to the farm his grandad (Dirk Van Dijck) owns.

What makes the International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) so endearing beyond its penchant for experimentation is an atmosphere that’s joyful and devoid of stress or self-importance. That was evident at this year’s festival, inside theaters where it seemed like the experience was about sharing cinematic pearls and not about arranging financial deals. The film selection was once again a delightfully uneven mishmash of bold stories with, perhaps, a through line having to do with our complicated relationship to otherness.
In Ulaa Salim’s Eternal, this otherness takes the shape of the Earth itself and of a woman’s body. These two are metaphorically linked through the figure of a fracture, which appears as a sign of the end of times after an earthquake in Iceland cracks the Earth open, and is poetically mapped onto the body of Anita (Anna Søgaard Frandsen) when she and Elias (Viktor Hjelmsø) first have sex.

Early in Handling the Undead, an adolescent girl, Flora (Inesa Dauksta), plays a video game where shooting zombies is your ticket to staying alive. Rendered in crude 3D, these shambling, emaciated, flesh-hungry zombies are the familiar sort that have haunted the pop-cultural imagination, and this depiction stands in seeming contrast to the people who came back from the dead after a mysterious event in Thea Hvistendahl’s film. They don’t do much of anything except breath and stare from behind glassy eyes at a world we’re never really sure if they can comprehend. But while they’re shells of who they once were, silent and often immobile, they recall enough of where they came from to reach out to the people who grieve them.
Based on the novel by John Ajvide Lindqvist, who co-wrote the screenplay with Hvistendahl, the film moves between three non-intersecting subplots. In one, we...

A loud, high-pitched sound echoes through the streets of Oslo. Car alarms start going off everywhere. A citywide blackout begins. An elderly man, draped over his grandson’s grave, begins to hear the sound of muffled knocks coming from under the ground. “Grandpa is coming,” he says repeatedly. He grabs a shovel and begins to dig. So begins Handling the Undead, Thea Hvistendahl‘s somber feature directorial debut that acts as a haunting meditation on grief, daring to ask us what we would do if someone we loved returned from the dead.
Adapted from John Ajvide Lindqvist’s (Let the Right One In) 2005 novel of the same name (he also co-wrote the screenplay with Hvistendahl), Handling the Undead chronicles the lives of three families as they deal with the sudden return of their recently deceased loved ones. Perhaps the best way to describe the Norwegian zombie movie, Handling the Undead (Handtering av Udode), is as a mournful reflection on grief, on the struggle of the bereaved to let go of their departed loved ones. Based on the book by Swedish author John Ajvide Lindqvist, whose debut novel, Let the Right One In, became one of the best vampire movies of the 21st century — yielding a solid enough American remake, a so-so Showtime series and an innovative British stage adaptation — Thea Hvistendahl’s debut feature is a slow-burn experience that demands patience.
The degree to which that patience is rewarded will depend on the viewer’s willingness to get lost in the mood of pervasive anxiety and sorrow in a movie whose elegant restraint make it more psychological study than horror. That applies even once the rotting flesh-eaters have been revealed. One selling point of the multistrand drama...

If zombies weren’t so fixated on eating our brains, perhaps they’d be poignant to have around: semi-living, semi-breathing semblances of people we’ve loved, there to be seen and held and talked to, not truly present but not absent either. Whether that’s preferable to the void of death is the question underpinning “Handling the Undead” for much of its running time, even as the threat of the undead reverting to their usual habits gives this soft, sorrowful bereavement drama a core of cold-blooded horror. Thea Hvistendahl’s impressively restrained debut feature may keep its genre intentions just up its sleeve until the final act, but it never feels like a trick or a compromise: It’s a living-dead nightmare with a brain and a heart and, most importantly and inedibly, a soul.

When Willem Dafoe receives his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame Jan. 8, the distinction will commemorate more than just a four-time Oscar nominee, but an actor so versatile that he has embodied everything from a conflicted messiah in “The Last Temptation of Christ” to the tortured father figure of “Antichrist.” Is there an actor working today with greater range?
With his deep-set eyes, sharp nose and broad smile, Dafoe has depicted his share of devils, from creepy “Nosferatu” star Max Schreck in “Shadow of the Vampire” to comic-book villain the Green Goblin in “Spider-Man 2.” But he also excels at the other end of the spectrum, as when he plays God in Yorgos Lanthimos’ “Poor Things,” a Frankensteinian surgeon charitably committed to reanimating dead creatures, like Emma Stone’s Bella.

The career trajectory of character actor extraordinaire Willem Dafoe is one of the more unusual among contemporary Hollywood stars. From his early days of being routinely cast as a heavy, Dafoe worked his way through the system thanks to the sheer force of his talent, finally being cast as leads, often portraying in detail such real-life figures as actor Max Schreck, artist Vincent Van Gogh and even Jesus Christ.
Among Dafoe’s early bad guy roles were as biker gang leaders in both Kathryn Bigelow‘s “The Loveless” and Walter Hill‘s “Streets of Fire.” But his performance as kindly Sgt. Three more Oscar nominations followed, and Dafoe has also earned three Golden Globe nominations and four noms from the Screen Actors Guild.
