All Facebook posted an article about the current filming of David Fincher's 'The Social Network':
Last week we wrote that Johns Hopkins would welcome the crew of "The Social Network" this week as they'd be filming in front of some of the dorms. Today photos of the shooting are rolling in from Twitpic including shots of Eamon Brooks and Jesse Eisenberg, two of the film's main characters. [ read more ]
- - - I'm quite certain that one of the actors in the photos is Jesse Eisenberg, but I'm not too sure that the other one is Eamon Brooks. I believe it'sAndrew Garfield. I maybe wrong of course... So try to look at the photos please....

- - - On the actors, here's our take:
Andrew Garfield, who was exceptional in Boy A, would be an awesome addition to any cast. A big winner at the recent BAFTAs, »

Full disclosure: Halley Feiffer and I went to college together, where we crossed paths working on a handful of student films and plays, and ran into each other at a lot of parties. But don't think that's a problem as you go into watching my video interview with her below. In fact, knowing Halley a little allowed me to ask all kinds of fun questions that I wouldn't get to otherwise, talking about her career both on film and on the stage, her continued friendship with her Squid and the Whale co-star Jesse Eisenberg (she does a hilarious impression of him), and what it's like to be a star in a new studio movie while living in a cheap Brooklyn apartment. Halley, who plays the nutty sci-fi writer Tabatha in Gentlemen Broncos, had first major film role in Squid and the Whale while she was still enrolled at Wesleyan, »

Gory kills, big sweaty breasts packed in white tank tops and bad acting have a place…I guess…but for more discerning videophiles looking for a good movie on Halloween, it can be hard wading through the seas of blood and guts contained in the more popular slasher flicks, torture ventures and shaky-cam fright fests. So what’s worth picking up for a good time this Halloween when one’s looking for more than a mindless, titillating splatter of action? Zombies are in again this year with the help of Zombieland, starring Woody Harrelson and Jesse Eisenberg. It is still playing in many theaters, and is the best bet for readers looking to leave the house this Halloween. At the same time a full-throttle zombie flick and comedy, Eisenberg plays Columbus, who follows a strict set of rules to surviving the zombie apocalypse before meeting up with the loose cannon »

One tMF viewer, who is apparently a Megan Fox fan, once said 'Megan Fox is overrated as a celebrity but not as an actress.' That comment made me think: Is there really such a difference? Can't we judge someone who is a celebrity and an actress, and treat her as one and the same? She's just one person right?
- - -
- - - Here's exactly what our viewer said:
Megan Fox may be overrated as a "celebrity," but she is actually underrated, As An Actress.
She gets a ridiculously inordinate amount of criticism for her acting because the part of her career that made her famous was a part that focused on how attractive she was, not anything that could actually showcase any acting skills, »

There is a special place in American cinema reserved for a certain variety of self-doubting, sexually clumsy, hyperintellectual young man. Perhaps it was Woody Allen who first carved out a niche in film for men nursing this particular cocktail of neuroses. Whatever its origins, the archetype exists, and for a new generation of movie fans, actor Jesse Eisenberg appears to have taken awkward, unsteady hold of the baton. (Of course—these guys are never athletic.)
Born in Queens, New York, and raised in New Jersey, the 26-year-old Eisenberg began performing professionally as a teen, and even did a run on Broadway in a 1996 revival of the Tennessee Williams play Summer and Smoke. But it’s Eisenberg’s film work—punctuated by performances in Dylan Kidd’s Roger Dodger (2002), Noah Baumbach’s The Squid and the Whale (2005), and this year’s Adventureland (in which he co-starred alongside this issue’s cover girl, »

Year: 2009
Directors: Miguel Arteta
Writers: Gustin Nash & C.D. Payne (novel)
IMDb: link
Trailer: link
Review by: Hal MacDermot
Rating: 7.8 out of 10
Youth is Revolt is the screen adaptation of C.D. Payne’s cult book series charting the progress of the awkward, sex obsessed, super smart teen that is Nick Twisp. Michael Cera is made to inhabit this deadpan absurdist comedy world, a place where the teens are way more intelligent than the adults. It’s not an original take on life, but it’s probably how most teens think, so “whatever.” The strong supporting cast includes Steve Buscemi as Dad, and Zach Galifianakis as Jerry, one of his Mum’s pig boyfriends. Gustin Nash’s script feels slightly jerky, but suspending disbelief when you are laughing is usually easy.
Nick Twisp believes everyone is getting more sex than him, and he’s probably right. His separated parents certainly are. Buscemi is banging half-his-age-hottie Ari Graynor, »

What's the best way to announce new cast for a movie about Facebook? On Facebook, of course! The Playlist tracked down a series of tweets and Facebook posts to discover that several young actors have been added to the cast of The Social Network, a movie already starring Jesse Eisenberg, Justin Timberlake and Andrew Garfield. They're mostly names you won't know, so we may as well hear it in Sorkin's own Facebook words: "Rehearsals began yesterday for The Social Network. The ensemble cast includes Jesse Eisenberg, Andrew Garfield, Justin Timberlake, Max Minghella, Rooney Mara, Dakota Johnson, Brenda Song, Armie Hammer, Josh Pence and about 20 others to come. Shooting begins Oct. 19th in Cambridge, Ma." 20 others? Good Lord, it's like the "Night of a Thousand Stars" for the under-25 set. Minghella will apparently be pulling a Hayley Mills and playing a set of twins, the Winklevoss twins , according to, of all »

Are you a young actor? Congratulations: David Fincher has added you as a friend on his Facebook movie, The Social Network. The Playlist dug around and found confirmation from Aaron Sorkin that Max Minghella (left), Rooney Mara, Armie Hammer, Brenda Song and many more have joined the cast of the Jesse Eisenberg-topped drama. No word yet on who each of them will be playing; for that, I suppose we'll have to wait for the results of their "Which Social Network Character Are You?" quizzes. [The Playlist] »

There is a hell of a lot to like about Zombieland. Rarely does a movie that's so much dumb fun have so many smart, well-executed, and plain damned admirable characteristics in its favor. The opening credits sequence is quite imaginative, the Cameo We Will Not Spoil If You Haven't Seen the Movie is superb, and not just in its wow factor, and then there are the constant narrative and visual callbacks to the rules for survival laid out by Columbus (Jesse Eisenberg).
They're so easy they're shrewd, and I think the filmmakers got the number of rules used in the film just right, and that's often a very difficult thing to do, especially in a comedy where you find something that works. Of course, one great by-product of these rules is that they make for great marketing.
We've seen it in TV commercials and viral videos for Zombieland, and better late than never, »
