Showtime has hired Tony Lynn for the newly created position of senior vp, programming distribution. Formerly president of Playboy Entertainment Group, Lynn will be responsible for the licensing and sale of Showtime's original film and television programming to the worldwide television and video/DVD markets. TORONTO -- Canadian producer Peace Arch Entertainment Group said Tuesday that it has inked a movie financing and distribution agreement with Showtime Networks. The three-year deal will see the partners co-finance and distribute a slate of 15 films initially that Peace Arch will release theatrically in Canada and elsewhere internationally and that Showtime will air on the Showtime Network. The agreement was hammered out by Peace Arch president and CEO Gary Howsam and Matthew Duda, executive vp program acquisitions, planning and distribution at Showtime, a unit of Viacom. As part of the pact, Peace Arch will retain all non-U.S. market rights after each movie is greenlighted, likely with budgets of about CAN$15 million ($11.2 million). The sales rights to the movies will be handled by Peace Arch Films, the Canadian producer's London-based subsidiary.

Showtime has promoted three executives to senior vice presidents in his programming division. Danielle Gelber rises from VP of original programming, drama series programming, to senior VP, original programming. She will be responsible for the development and oversight of new Showtime series including Huff, the Hank Azaria drama scheduled to bow later this year. Gelber also oversaw The L Word and Out of Order. She reports to Gary Levine, executive VP, original programming. Gary Garfinkel will move to senior VP from VP of film acquisitions, a position he has held since 1998. He will be responsible for the negotiation and acquisition of films for Showtime, The Movie Channel, Sundance Channel, Flix and Showtime's digital channels, as well as working on studio output deals. He reports to Matthew Duda, executive VP, acquistions, planning and distribution. Sara Fischer has been boosted from VP to senior VP, production, where she will oversee all aspects of production for the network, including scouting film locations, crew management and post-production. She currently oversees production on Word and Queer as Folk. Fischer will report to Michael Rauch, executive VP, production. All three executives will be based in Los Angeles.

Showtime Networks announced more changes in its management ranks Monday with the promotion of 22-year network veteran Matthew Duda and the departure of programming executive Peter Keramidas. Duda, Showtime's executive vp acquisitions, planning and distribution, will take on expanded responsibilities for overseeing Showtime's domestic and international TV and home video distribution operations. He also will be closely involved in the theatrical distribution of titles released through the newly launched Showtime Independent Films venture focused on low-budget movies. Keramidas, executive vp programming, also had been in charge of overseeing financing and distribution of Showtime's original productions. The executive shuffle was announced Monday by Robert Greenblatt, who took the reins as Showtime Networks entertainment president in July.
