Opens: July 2nd 2010
Cast: Noah Ringer, Nicola Peltz, Jackson Rathbone, Dev Patel
Director: M. Night Shyamalan
Summary: A live-action film based on the Nickelodeon animated TV series. In a fantastic world where civilisation exists as four great empires, a reluctant young child sets out on a perilous journey to restore balance to a world torn apart by war.
Analysis: Its been quite the decade for M. Night Shyamalan who started it as a household name with labels of a moodern-day Hitchcock thanks to the likes of "The Sixth Sense" and "Signs". Today he's considered more of a one-trick pony and in some cases a punchline due to rampant stories of egomania run wild and a series of much derided onscreen flops like "Lady in the Water" and "The Happening".
Thus 'Airbender' marks a potential return to form for the helmer. An adaptation of his hit cartoon series »

It took nearly ten years but the men behind Sexy Beast are back and their follow-up follows in the footsteps of their first film, a macho experience which is bound to leave audiences flabbergasted. If one manages to get over the often mumbled lines and the million miles a minute swearing, viewers are likely to discover a film with something to say but will it alienate a huge chunk the audience before getting there?
A sort of The Big Kahuna for the gangster wannabe, 44 Inch Chest stars Ray Winstone as Colin Diamond, a man who has had a bad day. His wife just broke his heart by leaving him for another man (though not before a confrontation that leaves their home in shambles) and Colin has retreated into himself. He »

Momentum Pictures have sent us the trailer for Ray Winstone’s latest film, the awesome looking 44 Inch Chest, also starring Joanne Whalley, John Hurt, Ian McShane and Stephen Dillane. Directed by Malcolm Venville, 44 Inch Chest is a gangster film with a real difference. This isn’t about drugs, it isn’t about hustling, no, this gangster is going through divorce!
Colin Diamond (Ray Winstone) is in agony, shattered by the bombshell of his wife’s (Joanne Whalley) infidelity with a young French waiter. His motley crew of friends – Old Man Peanut (John Hurt), Meredith (Ian McShane), Archie (Tom Wilkinson), and Mal (Stephen Dillane) – kidnap Loverboy (Melvil Poupaud), and assemble a kangaroo court so that Colin can restore his manhood with revenge. A very bumpy night ensues for Loverboy whose life is at stake as Colin wrestles with heartbreak, anger, madness, love and gargantuan self-pity.
Potent, provocative and outrageously profane, this »

Lights. Cameras. Birthday Action (for this, the 30th of November). Only one month left to go and it's 2010. How crazy is that?
Ridley, Terrence (in the 70s) and Marc
1835 Mark Twain's books have been adapted into movies ever since the movies began. Most notably The Prince and the Pauper and any tale of Huck Finn or Tom Sawyer
1920 Virginia Mayo 40s and 50s star, frequent Danny Kaye foil
1926 Richard Crenna, character actor
1927 Robert Guillaume, "Benson"
1929 Dick Clark, seemingly immortal creature who may finally be destroyed by the rise of his spiritual offspring Ryan Seacrest. It's all very Cronos vs. Zeus, only without the thunderbolts
1937 Ridley Scott, manly director whose movies are usually way better when they're shot through with a strong female presence. Consider the three classics: Blade Runner, Thelma & Louise, Alien. The rest of the filmography surely has its moments but that's the trinity right there.

Here’s a new poster (click to enlarge) for Ray Winstone’s latest movie, 44 Inch Chest. This movie reunites Winstone with Ian McShane for the first time since Sexy Beast in 2000 which shocked me! I can’t believe that was nearly 10 years ago! 44 Inch Chest also stars Stephen Dillane, John Hurt, Joanne Whalley and Tom Wilkinson.
The poster debuted on Empire yesterday and here’s their plotline:
Empire: Winstone plays Colin Diamond, a cuckolded husband who hatches a plot with his mates to get revenge on his wife’s lover. As we all know, revenge is a dish best served cold, which might go some way to explaining why everyone on this poster looks like they’ve been shoved in a freezer for four hours.
44 Inch Chest is directed by Malcolm Venville and is out 22nd January. »

If there were a prize for most mis-leading title of the decade, 44 Inch Chest would be up there dancing a tango with Cinderella Man for first place.Far from being a Judd Apatow comedy or a follow-up to Boogie Nights, this is the latest venture from the writers behind uber-Brit gangster drama Sexy Beast, reuniting that film’s lead Ray Winstone and Ian McShane while adding in liberal splashes of prime British talent in the form of Stephen Dillane, John Hurt, Joanne Whalley and Tom Wilkinson.Winstone plays Colin Diamond, a cuckolded husband who hatches a plot with his mates to get revenge on his wife’s lover. This December, Lincoln Center's Great Performers series will present Tony Award-winning actor Stephen Dillane in two unique performances directed by Katie Mitchell that are based on the relationship between music and literature. Just added to the series, Mr. Dillane performs T.S. Eliot's Four Quartets, followed by the Miró Quartet's interpretation of Beethoven's late String Quartet in A minor, Op.132, which originally inspired the poet's timeless texts. Four Quartets, which originated at the Donmar Warehouse in London in January 2009, will be performed December 2 and 3 only at Baryshnikov Arts Center. »

A new batch of behind-the-scenes pics from Eva Green and Ewan McGregor’s apocalyptic romance The Last Word has arrived and all I can say is: “orange sweater!”
Last week we reported that the duo would play lovers enchanted with each other as “the world falls apart.” Their romance is set to the tune of looting and people defecating in the streets.
Along with Green and McGregor, the cast of The Last Word features Connie Nielsen, Ewan Bremmer and Stephen Dillane.
Last Word is directed by David Mackenzie with the story penned by Danish scribe Kim Fupz Aakeson.
Filming has now begun in Glasgow.

It’s Sunday again and that means Wrap Up time.
This week:
Tyler Perry does Bad at the top of the box office; Timothy Dalton plays with Toys; Anton Yelchin gets some Beaver; Max Ryan gets involved in Sex and Eva Green and Ewan McGregor have the Last Word.
Box Office
I Can Do Bad All By Myself topped the box office with $25 million. While it’s not the best gross for a Tyler Perry opening it does show that he has an audience that shows up.
The Tim Burton-produced 9 had a better than expected debut with $15.5 million.
Quentin Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds was third with another $6.5 million. With a total gross of $104 million the film has now become Tarantino’s highest grossing film - unadjusted of course.
Sandra Bullock’s All About Steve was fourth with $5.8 million. The film’s cumulative gross currently stands at $21 million.

French actress Eva Green was given quite the shove into stardom when the landed the role as Bond girl Vesper Lynd alongside Daniel Craig's James Bond in 2006's Casino Royale. ScreenDaily reports now Green is starring alongside another top notch British actor in David Mackenzie's tentatively titled new film Last Word, also starring Ewan McGregor. Danish screenwriter Kim Fupz Aakeson wrote the script which tells the story of two people who fall in love as the world around them crumbles. Shooting is currently under way in England already and features a whole slew of other acclaimed international actors rounding out the cast. Ewen Bremmer, who starred with McGregor in 1996's Trainspotting, is also featured along with acclaimed British actor Stephen Dillane (Thomas Jefferson in HBO's John Adams) and Danish actress Connie Nielsen (Gladiator). A very eclectic cast should make this a project to keep an eye on, but »

What constitute good acting? What makes a good actor? Are there certain steps one must follow in order to become an actor or is it a gift or a natural talent and requires no formal training? These are the questions we'll try to answer - and before we begin, let me just say, I have been patiently waiting for an 'opportunity' like this, and I would like to thank one tMF viewer for the vigorous and insightful comments on 'good acting' and the case between Ben Barnes, Orlando Bloom and Johnny Depp.
