Josie DeGuzman comes from a prominent Puerto Rican family. She attended
Boston Conservatory of Music. She appeared in "Runaways" at Joseph
Papp's Public Theatre and played Maria in the 1980 Broadway revival of
"West Side Story". Other Broadway shows include "Carmelina" (1979, her
Broadway debut) and as Sister Sara in the 1992 "Guys and Dolls" revival
on Broadway. Most recently, she played Marian the Librarian in "The
Music Man" in summer stock.
Was twice nominated for Broadway's Tony Award: in 1980, as Best Actress
(Featured Role - Musical) for a revival of "West Side Story," and in
1992 for Best Actress (Musical) for a revival of "Guys and
Dolls."
Attended the University of Pennsylvania before the Boston Conservatory.
