We’re all trying to find ways to keep ourselves and/or our families/housemates engaged and entertained during this period of social distancing. Might I suggest a bit of horror?
Tor Books launched its own horror imprint, Nightfire Books, aimed at publishing fiction that “unsettles and delights, exploring the full range of horror, dark fantasy, and the supernatural” back in April. The imprint’s first publication is planned for early 2021, but that doesn’t mean it’s not putting out some chilling content in the meantime.
In February, Nightfire Books launched Come Join Us By the Fire, an audio-only anthology of 35 horror short stories available to listen to for free. The collection offers almost 10 hours of creepy content, is narrated by Gerard Doyle, Ramon de Ocampo, and Saskia Maarleveld, and includes some of our favorite authors, including Joe R. Lansdale, Paul Tremblay, Sam J. Miller, China Miéville, and Carmen Maria Machado.

Counterpart season 2 will be returning to Starz in time for the holidays. Here's everything you need to know.
Counterpart season 2 was already a sure thing before Starz introduced this mind-bending, parallel worlds spy thriller to audiences, since the show began with a two season order. As of February of 2018, the second season began production even before season one aired its finale. We've been enjoying this show since the very beginning and are already anticipating the new twists that Counterpart season 2 will undoubtedly throw our way.
Counterpart is created, written, and produced by Justin Marks and tells its story through the eyes of Howard Silk, played by J. K. Simmons, who discovers that the secretive Un-type organization he works for protects a passage between two very different versions of Earth, each trying to exploit the advantages of the other. In season one, he works to uncover a...

If you feel that the Oedipus myth starts with the riddle and ends with the cathartic revelation, that’s just the beginning: here Oedipus (Ramon de Ocampo) blinds himself with Jocasta’s (Rhonda Aldrich) earrings barely an hour into a nearly three-hour evening. It’s not even the climax before the intermission, merely the triggering tragedy for generations of accursed fates, an epic night of hubris, blindness and downfall that nevertheless manages to rally, in Kenneth Cavander’s decidedly reupholstered version, to a hopeful conclusion -- so long as one neglects to remember the succeeding millenia of the masculine destructive pursuit of power. Park, No RecreationThe logistics of working at smaller theatersActors who perform in L.A.-area theaters under the Actors' Equity Association 99-Seat Plan aren't going to get rich doing so. Yet, as they practice their craft, it's a happy occasion when there are certain comforts or amenities available along the way.But finding safe and convenient parking can be a challenge, particularly in areas like the North Hollywood theater district, where boulevard meters require payment up until 8 p.m. and side-street parking is scarce. Meters requiring money at night are now prevalent in other areas too, including many Hollywood neighborhoods. Some companies, such as Hollywood's Actors Co-op, the Sierra Madre Playhouse, and Pasadena's Theatre @ Boston Court provide free parking for audiences, actors, and other theater workers at or near the building. Macha Theatre in West Hollywood has limited free parking. Other situations vary widely. Yet, where there's a will, there's always a way.

Following an early season's worth recent rocky episodes, "House of Hoarders" was a pleasant surprise.
After weeks of sharks in pools, vampires taking on werewolves, and a gimpy serial killers wearing pleather suits, I was almost certain the show’s handling of this psychological ailment of the moment would be serve as nothing but shock value.
But the writers took time to address the issue as a mystery and a very real problem.
Of course, there were plenty of shocking, and pretty gross moments throughout the hour.
The house itself was depicted as an unpleasant, debilitating environment, but every reveal and disgusting detail was played toward the episode’s mystery. Was the hoarder really a killer? Was the mental disorder being played to hide a more sinister intent?
There were also some great character interactions, especially between Sara and Nick, as they viewed the case in different ways.
Sara had sympathy for Mrs.
