Rosario Dawson may have two new movies set for release this fall, but for now she's taking a break from acting to focus on politics. The New York native, accompanied by boyfriend Mathieu Schreyer, went to Washington, D.C.'s Capitol Hill Tuesday to help promote voter participation. "I decided I'm not going to be working at all through the fall," the actress – who'll be seen in Eagle Eye with Shia Laboeuf and Seven Pounds with Will Smith – told People. Instead, she plans to work at voter drives across the country sponsored by her non-profit Voto Latino."We're targeting the Latin youth vote,

Actress Rosario Dawson is taking a career break this autumn so she can travel across America convincing the Latin community to vote in November's presidential election.
The Sin City star, who is of Puerto Rican and Cuban, was in Washington D.C. on Tuesday speaking on behalf of her non-profit organisation Voto Latino.
And she reveals she'll set acting to one side later this year to make sure everyone who is eligible to vote, does.
Dawson's road trip will include stops at both the Republican and Democratic conventions.
The 28-year-old star, who has movies Eagle Eye and Seven Pounds set for release around the time of the election, says, "I decided I'm not going to be working at all through the fall (autumn).
"We're targeting the Latin youth vote. There's 18 million (people who) are eligible but we are not showing that up in votes. So our numbers aren't counting."

"This is the first time he's ever been here to see my flat," Dawson, 29, told People Tuesday night at a London bash in honor of A-list hairdresser Tara Smith and her new line of environmentally friendly hair care products. But that's not the only reason for their trip. "We went to France to see my boyfriend's family," added the actress. (Schreyer hosts a radio program in L.A. and goes by the name of "Mr.

The trailers are pretty revealing and rewarding, but the biggest news I've heard about Eagle Eye is from a Big Picture reader who told me there's an online group dedicated to Shia Labeouf's facial hair he sports for the movie.
That's a strange thing to focus on. But, we're here to help, so if you want to marvel at Shia's beard, here's a good size version of the poster, which we originally found at JoBlo.
Go ahead: Rub your face against the screen, you freakbiscuits.
Eagle Eye looks like a pretty effective thriller, and it's got Michelle Monaghan, Billy Bob Thornton, and Rosario Dawson, who, for different reasons that should be obvious, are favorites of mine.

Samuel Johnson said it was the last refuge of scoundrels, and if that's true, then I predict a nation-wide crime wave and a week-long run on golden toothpicks and hairless cats, because at this time of year patriotism will not be denied. Refuse to partake of -- or at least acknowledge -- it at your political and gustatory peril. With that in mind, we offer a list of films that might satisfy those on the patriotic fence, those who prefer their patriotism (and their marshmallow salad) a little bittersweet. Like Mr. Johnson, I am not an American, and much of what I know about everything, including American patriotism, I learned at the movies; these films have taught me the most about the boons and the bummers involved in loving this country.

Many countries with historically subjugated populations have stories similar to that explored in 1989's "Glory

American Idol judge Randy Jackson celebrated his 52nd birthday on Saturday - and was given a "barbaric-looking sword" from fellow reality show judge Simon Cowell.
The former bass player and producer welcomed celebrities including actress Rosario Dawson and dancer Karina Smirnoff to the party at Tao Las Vegas - but was left baffled by the present from the British music mogul.
Cowell wasn't on hand to give Jackson the gift personally - and the TV personality is unsure of what to do with the unusual present.
He says, "I don't know what part of me he wants to cut off, but that's a whole 'nother thing."
But the star is holding out for a more conventional gift from fellow judge and singer Paula Abdul.
He adds, "Paula has not given me anything yet but I think I know what she's getting me. I was talking to her last week so she knows what I want. It will be something I can use instead of looking at and saying, 'What the hell is this?'"

New mother Jessica Alba will be a great parent and "role model" to her daughter, according to the actress' Sin City co-star Rosario Dawson.
Alba and her husband Cash Warren became first time parents to little Honor on 7 June - and Dawson is sure the Fantastic Four star is coping well with her new responsibilities.
She tells People.com, "She'll be really attentive and really strong and she'll be a great role model. She's very smart and I like that about her.
"I don't know what people think about her on the outside or what their impression is, but Jessica is very strong and a very powerful woman.
"She'll probably be the disciplinarian more than Cash. I can definitely see that."

It was tough to tell who needed more security at Saturday night's annual White House Correspondents' Association Dinner in Washington, D.C. – the President or the Jonas brothers. "It's crazy," Nick Jonas said of the Beatles-like frenzy that erupted when the pop trio – also made up of Jonases Joe and Kevin – arrived. "We never expected this." The evening's emcee, Late, Late Show star (and, as of January, a newly minted American citizen) Craig Ferguson, told People he was "thrilled but shocked" to receive the invitation to host because he "assumed his first invitation as a citizen would be to Jury Duty.

Hollywood actress Cameron Diaz is reportedly dating 300 star Gerard Butler.
The Charlie's Angels beauty is alleged to have enjoyed a series of dates with Scottish actor Butler in recent weeks, and the couple was spotted out together at Los Angeles nightspots Chateau Marmont, Teddy's Bar at the Roosevelt Hotel and Shutters Hotel, where they met up for drinks.
An eyewitness says, "They walked up to the balcony to look at the sunset. He had one arm round her waist and the other one on the small of her back. She kept giggling and touching his chest. They obviously had a good night."
And Butler's mother Margaret Coll is delighted with the news.
She says, "If it is true, I'll look forward to meeting Cameron, because he always brings his girlfriends home."
Diaz claims she has been single since splitting from Justin Timberlake in January 2007, but has been romantically linked to singer John Mayer and magician Criss Angel. Butler has previously dated actress Rosario Dawson and was alleged to have romanced supermodel Naomi Campbell.
