The Game: Sitcom Cast (briefly) Reunites on Bet

13 November 2009 3:49 PM, PST | TVSeriesFinale.com | See recent TVSeriesFinale news »

Unfortunately, there's still no official word on Bet picking up the CW's discarded-but-beloved sitcom, The Game. While there have been plenty of rumors (here and here for example), it hasn't happened yet.

The latest rumor of The Game being revived came last month when some of the cast tweeted that they were heading to Atlanta. Some jumped to the conclusion that they were flying in to start shooting new episodes. Not so.

They were actually reuniting for a special episode of The Mo'Nique Show, a talk show hosted by actress and comedienne Mo'Nique. Those taking part are Coby Bell, Hosea Chanchez, Brittany Daniel, Pooch Hall, Tia Mowry, and Wendy Raquel Robinson.

The cast reunion airs tonight at 10pm on Bet and hopefully fans will finally hear that the revival is "Game on!"

The Game: Actress Says Sitcom Coming Back; Is It True This Time?

12 October 2009 5:14 PM, PDT | TVSeriesFinale.com | See recent TVSeriesFinale news »

Rumors are flying once again that the cancelled show, The Game, has been picked up by the Black Entertainment Television (Bet) for a fourth season. Is it really true this time?

Created by Mara Brock Akil, The Game began as a spin-off of the long-running comedy, Girlfriends. The series centers around a first year medical student (Tia Mowry) who chooses to follow her pro-football boyfriend (Pooch Hall) to San Diego. Others in the cast include Brittany Daniel, Coby Bell, Hosea Chanchez, Wendy Raquel Robinson, Hosea Chanchez, and Barry Floyd.

When The CW cancelled the show last Spring, there was talk that Bet was interested picking up the show for another year. The biggest issue would be finances but, since additional episodes would make the studio more money in syndication, it's in CBS Television Studios' best interests to work something out. Since Bet is a »

The Game: Has Bet Really Made a Deal for Season Four?

Last May, fans of The CW's sitcom, The Game, were upset to learn that the sitcom had been cancelled after three seasons on the air. Though there was some resolution in the last episode, it was hardly satisfying enough for devoted viewers. The web has recently been abuzz with news that the show is coming back but can you believe it?

The Game: CW Cancels Sitcom, Still Hope for Season Four?

20 May 2009 8:27 PM, PDT | TVSeriesFinale.com | See recent TVSeriesFinale news »

To very little surprise, the CW has cancelled one of its few remaining sitcoms, The Game. Is this the end for the series or could it still return?

Created by Mara Brock Akil, The Game began as a spin-off of Akil's long-running comedy, Girlfriends. The series centers around a first year medical student (Tia Mowry) who chooses to follow her pro-football boyfriend (Pooch Hall) to San Diego. Others in the cast include Brittany Daniel, Coby Bell, Hosea Chanchez and Wendy Raquel Robinson.

The first sitcom to debut on the CW network, The Game averaged 2.3 million viewers in season one. For season two, the ratings dropped to 2.07 million and a .96 rating in the 18-49 demographic. This season, it’s fallen to an average of 1.68 million viewers and a tiny 0.7 rating in the demo, in part because it was given a Friday night timeslot.

The Game: Will the CW Sitcom Survive or Be Cancelled?

8 April 2009 3:27 PM, PDT | TVSeriesFinale.com | See recent TVSeriesFinale news »

While it's looking less and less likely that the CW will renew The Game sitcom for a fourth year, series creator Mara Brock Akil is apparently interesting in changing the show in order to score a renewal. Is it a winning strategy?

The Game is a spin-off of the Girlfriends, the once successful sitcom that ended abruptly last season. Premiering in 2006, The Game revolves around Melanie Barnett (Tia Mowry), a first year medical student who gives up her school plans to follow her professional football playing boyfriend Derwin Davis (Pooch Hall). Others in the cast include Brittany Daniel, Coby Bell, Hosea Chanchez and Wendy Raquel Robinson.

In its first season, The Game averaged 2.3 million viewers each week. For season two, the ratings dropped to 2.07 million and a .96 rating in the 18-49 demographic. This season, CW execs have stranded the series in a little-watched Friday night timeslot. It's fallen to an »

Imho: The gay storyline on "The Game" played out nicely

3 February 2009 10:52 AM, PST | AfterElton.com | See recent AfterElton.com news »

In last week's episode of The Game, the CW sports sitcom about football players and their wives, we were left on a rather dispririting note, with Clay, an outed player, left alone in the lockerroom, abandoned by his teammates — especially the sitcom's lead character, Malik (Hosea Chancez).

Picking up the story this week (on Friday), Mickey (Brian McGovern), the team manager, has had a chance to think things through, and he's decided, "We're all going to stand behind Clay."

"Well, that's better than standing in front of him!" calls out one of the players. Malik even comes right out and refers to Clay as a "fag." Later, one of the footplayer players' wives gets drunk and tells a series of surprisingly ribald gay jokes. "Why are gay men the first ones to check out of a hotel? Because they get their stuff packed at night."
