- To prepare for the part of Dr. Haas (Masters of Sex, 2013), in addition to reading the biography that Masters of Sex is based on, read "The Fifties" by David Halberstam. Also watched movies from the 1950s and documentaries on journalist Edward R. Murrow, which had individual footage of interviews with everyday people from that time period.
- He hired an agent after his sophomore year at Marquette, when the movie, "Election", came out. Decided to complete his undergraduate degree (double major in History and Theatre)at Marquette University, graduating in 2002, before pursuing his acting career full-time.
- In preparation for his role of Ben in the movie, "Rocket Science", he and fellow actress, Anna Kendrick, studied with a college debate coach and attended a two-day debate camp in Baltimore to learn the terminology, understand how debaters stand, and how they breathe.
