We’ve come to the end of 2009, so we thought we’d weigh in with a look back at the first 10 years of the 21st century in the movie world and discuss the various different “events” which shaped the decade. Obviously we can’t cover absolutely everything, but sticking true to our core movie genres on the site, we’re just going to concentrate on the comic-book, sci-fi, action (and so forth) types of movies and take a look at what films had the maximum impact over this decade.
It’s amazing to think that it’s been 10 years since movies like The Matrix, American Beauty and Fight Club (to name but a few) came out in 1999 (check out our 1999 decade highlight, if you haven’t already). A Lot of movies – somewhere in the vicinity of 5,000-6,000 – have been released since then. We’ve had the good, the bad and »

Fox released these promo images from the upcoming eighth season of their action-adventure show “24″ earlier this month, but you know that old mantra, better late than never. So, here are promo images from Season 8 of “24″, featuring Jack Bauer in the Big Apple trying to save that guy from “Slumdog Millionaire” from getting an RPG shot up his buttocks. Hey, it’s a thankless job, but someone’s gotta do it. Keifer Sutherland, Mary Lynn Rajskub, Elisha Cuthbert, Cherry Jones, and Annie Wersching return from Season 7. They are joined by new victims — er, I mean, castmembers — Anil Kapoor, Katee Sackhoff, Freddie Prinze Jr., Mykelti Williamson, John Boyd, and Chris Diamantopoulos. Day 8 commences January 17, 2010 with a 2-hour premiere. »

CBS medical drama "Three Rivers" starring Alex O'Loughlin has been cancelled. The series will complete production on all 13 episodes from the show's original order, but there's been no word on whether they will air.

The series finale of the long running USA Network series pulled in 9.4 million viewers, making it the largest audience to date for a drama series on basic cable, topping the third-season finale of TNT's "The Closer" in September 2007 which pulled in 9.2 million viewers.
The record helped push new series "White Collar" up to ratings highs of 5.55 million viewers, the highest rating for the timeslot on the network since the series debut of "Psych" several years ago.

"The Forgotten" gets a buzz from Elisha Cuthbert who will be guest starring as a recurring cast. ABC has confirmed that the star of "24" will come in six-episode arc starting the eleventh one, which is expected to air early next year.
According to the press release, her character is named Maxine Denver. She is a "strong and successful Chicago professional who is forced to put her skepticism of 'amateur detectives' aside when The Forgotten Network begins investigating a case close to home."
Cuthbert is also set to reprise her role as Jack Bauer's daughter on "24" in a couple of episodes airing next year. The "Forgotten" stint is said to begin in February, just in time for Cuthbert to finish the "24" obligation and move on to the new project.

We know she hasn't had any truly memorable projects outside of her run on "24," but we wouldn't exactly say that Elisha Cuthbert has been forgotten. Oh wait. Nevermind. Elisha Cuthbert hasn't been forgotten, she's just been cast in a recurring role on ABC's mostly unremembered freshman procedural "The Forgotten." ABC announced on Monday (Dec. 7) that Cuthbert will join the cast of "The Forgotten" in February playing Maxine Denver, described as "a strong and successful Chicago professional who is forced to put her skepticism of 'amateur detectives' aside when The Forgotten Network begins investigating a case close to »

Elisha Cuthbert is joining "the forgotten" on ABC starting February 2010.
Cuthbert has been cast in a recurring role -- Maxine Denver, a Chicago professional who is "forced to put her skepticism of 'amateur detectives' aside when The Forgotten Network begins investigating a case close to home," according to the ABC press release.
We've already seen Cuthbert reprising her role of Kim Bauer on at least one episode of "24" on Fox, so it looks like this girl next door is pulling double network duty come spring. There's no word yet on just how many episodes of either show Cuthbert is doing, but still... that's a lotta blonde after the holidays.
"The forgotten" also stars Christian Slater, Michelle Borth, Heather Stephens, Rochelle Aytes, Bob Stephenson and Anthony Carrigan. It airs Tuesdays at 10 pm Et/Pt on ABC.

ABC is confirming that 24 cougar bait Elisha Cuthbert is joining the cast of The Forgotten in a recurring role. According to the hot-of-the-presses ABC press release, Cuthbert will play Maxine Denver, a "strong and successful Chicago professional who is forced to put her skepticism of 'amateur detectives' aside when The Forgotten Network begins investigating a case close to home." Cuthbert is slated to debut on the ratings-challenged freshman drama in February, which is not long after she wraps up her multi-episode 24 return. Heroes: So you're saying there's a chance it might stick around?! That's the latest word coming out of camp Heroes, now that NBC has recast Sendhil Ramamurthy (Heroes' Mohinder) in the net's own pilot Rex Is Not Your Lawyer, giving the role to Jerry O'Connell instead. An NBC rep said Ramamurthy pulled out of Rex because of a scheduling conflict with Heroes, which was in first position. So maybe with Eastwick's cancellation, it's Rebecca's turn to stay home with the twins? 24/Forgotten: Looks like Jack Bauer's spawn is coming to ABC's Forgotten. Canadian-born actress Elisha Cuthbert, perhaps best known for playing Kim Bauer on Fox's 24, has joined ABC's The Forgotten cast in a recurring role, which begins in February of next year.
Cuthbert will play Maxine Denver, a strong and successful Chicago professional who is forced to put her skepticism of "amateur detectives" aside when The Forgotten Network begins investigating a case close to home.
If you haven't seen it, the series focuses on a team of dedicated amateurs The Forgotten Network who work on murder cases involving unidentified victims. After the police have given up, this group, led by Alex Donovan (Christian Slater), must first solve the puzzle of the victim's identity in order to then help catch the killer. These are citizen volunteers solving extraordinary crimes. Their persistence and compassion for the cases put them on a personal and emotional journey that focuses on giving names back to the deceased. »

Enough already! This entire week seems like it’s been devoted to rumors about who will and will not be playing the role of Black Cat, the recently announced villain (and temptress?) of Spider-Man 4.
When news leaked that it would be Spidey vs. Black Cat in the next film, the first actress named for role was Rachel McAdams – then that rumor was debunked. After that came word that Julia Stiles is up for the role. Now we’re hearing Anne Hathaway’s name being tossed in the mix, while many internet fanboys are insisting that Eliza Dushku or Elisha Cuthbert be given the role because “they’re hot.”
Look… at this point we could keep on “reporting” each and every one of these Black Cat casting rumors as they pop-up and get knocked down again, but why? We all know the final decision is coming soon. But before we »

"2012" may have destroyed the box office this weekend, but it also did plenty of damage to Nasa, who received thousands of letters and phone calls from concerned citizens that the world was going to end in just over two years -- so much so that Nasa set up a site to specifically debunk their fears. Roland Emmerich's latest disaster flick would've inevitably inspired some to panic regardless, but these calls got an assist from Sony's viral marketing campaign for the film, which included a web site devoted to The Institute for Human Continuity that, among other things, offers visitors an opportunity to register for a lottery to increase their chance of survival when the apocalypse strikes. The move inspired some, like Stuart McGurk at the Guardian to look at the ways viral marketing "can go bad." I'd like to add to the pile four more risky movie marketing maneuvers that bombed, »

Based on the latest superhero movie rumors making the rounds, it looks like I caught the wrong cat last week. Speculation is running rampant that Peter Parker will go web-to-claw against Black Cat in "Spider-Man 4," with "Wedding Crashers" leading lady Rachel McAdams a supposed frontrunner for the role.
Black Cat's involvement in the superhero sequel is still not official—indeed, Splash Page editor Rick Marshall had his own anonymously-sourced scoop on who the "Spider-Man 4" villain could be—but given the tenacity of these rumors, I feel compelled to weigh in just in case Felicia Hardy winds up terrorizing Pete's next big screen adventure.
These are my contenders for the role—hit the comments section and leave some of your own suggestions!

Fox has unveiled their first official promo for Day Eight of 24, which launches in January. The 45-second promo clip for Day Eight, which can be viewed below, doesn't focus on the new characters played by Katee Sackhoff and Freddie Prinze Jr. next season, instead placing the emphasis squarely on Kiefer Sutherland's Jack Bauer and Elisha Cuthbert's Kim (sans cougar, natch). Will Jack ever get a chance to settle into the quiet comfort of grandparenthood and time with his family? Not this day, anyway, as Jack is once again called upon to save the nation. Are you excited about Day Eight? Curious about the new characters? And wondering whether Jack will make it through the season alive? Discuss. Day Eight of 24 is scheduled to launch on Monday, January 17th on Fox.
