Since the February 2nd episode of Friday Night SmackDown, The Rock has made a return to WWE programming, hinting at his regular appearances leading up to WrestleMania 40. His ongoing feud with Cody Rhodes implies that The Great One will play a significant role in WWE in the coming weeks. With that said, there was also a time when The Great One refused to travel with his old tag team partner, due to one big reason.
The Rock
Fans are eagerly anticipating a potential showdown between The Rock and Roman Reigns, but there’s also a collective desire to ensure that Cody Rhodes’ storyline isn’t overshadowed. Initially, there were concerns about this imbalance, but a more balanced approach has been adopted. As a result, there has been a shift in the trajectory of WrestleMania 40’s storyline. However, fans are now genuinely enjoying the direction it has taken, especially after the initial backlash.

“There are no words to convey the deep sense of loss and sadness we are feeling right now,” Drozdov’s family said in a statement. “We would like to extend our deepest appreciation to everyone. All of his fans, teammates, colleagues, and friends for all the love and support he received over the years. You all gave him meaning, purpose and something to live for. He loved each and every one of you and cherished the conversations, notes, and letters he received. His faith in humanity never faltered, so know that for all the love you’ve shown him, he loved you back.”

Welcome to this week’s review of Impact Wrestling, which this week opens with a Before the Impact match that saw Laredo Kid defeat Blake Christian. Plus we get more build to this year’s Slammiversary pay-per-view. Let’s get into the review…
Match #1: Tasha Steelz & Savannah Evans def. Jordynne Grace & Mia Yim The following is courtesy of impactwrestling.com:
Before the Knockouts make history in the first-ever Queen of the Mountain match for the Knockouts World Title at Slammiversary, momentum is up for grabs tonight! Deonna Purrazzo and Chelsea Green, who will also compete in Queen of the Mountain, are seen watching on a monitor backstage. Evans arm drags her own partner, sending Steelz crashing into Yim. Steelz hits Yim with a tornado Ddt out of the corner. Yim sends Steelz to the outside, then plants Evans face-first into the turnbuckle to create separation and make the tag to Grace.

The full content listing for the upcoming WWE DVD and Blu-ray set on the life and death of Owen Hart has been revealed, courtesy of the Wrestling DVD Network. The list includes all chapter titles for the documentary feature on disc one, as well as all extras, including the full list of matches selected for the package.
Bret Hart recently commented on the documentary portion of the set, sounding very pessimistic about the chances that the documentary will do a good job telling the full story of his brother’s life. Bret believes that WWE is having to walk on egg shells to cater to Owen’s widow, Martha, who is not supporting the DVD release.
Bret told the Fight Network:
“I’m looking forward to it but I’m not really optimistic that it’s going to be a great job. Martha handcuffed them so much. I...

Continuing my quest to document the longest reigns of each title in the history of World Wrestling Entertainment, this month I’ll take a look at one of the least important titles ever to be introduced into the company. Yes, I’m talking of course about the European Championship. Introduced in 1997, it would last only five years before being consigned to the bin of history. The British Bulldog won the initial title, beating Owen Hart in a tournament final in Germany, and over the next five years 27 men would share 37 reigns with the strap.
Maybe I’m being a little harsh on the title. In its five year history some of the greatest names in modern wrestling held it, everyone from Triple H to Eddie Guerrero to Kurt Angle to Mideon. Mideon? Yeah, Mideon. In all fairness, he didn’t actually win the belt, more he was awarded...

Stables are as old as the hills in professional wrestling, and they have been instrumental in giving certain individuals greater credibility in the eyes of the fans. The Nation of Domination allowed The Rock to rehabilitate from his misguided introduction as Rocky Maivia as well as giving D-Lo Brown a platform from which to make his name. Without Evolution who knows where Batista would be today, although I wager he wouldn’t be starring in Hollywood movies.
It hasn’t always been a grand success though. We all remember the Nation of Domination, but less fondly Los Boricuas or Disciples of Apocalypse. Kai En Tai and The Mexicools were mired in WWE’s covert racism. The Corre were dead on arrival, and can anyone remember who was a part of The Truth Commission? Booking has everything to do with this of course, but stables are a very hit and miss product.

Wrestling and advertising go together like a piping hot Chicago Town Pizza and nice cool bottle of Coors Light. Mmmm, delicious.
Wrestling has a dedicated TV audience and for years sponsorship has seemed to capitalise on it. The superstars are household names and there’s big bucks to be made my renting out your likeness to the nearest corporate brand.
Randy Macho Man Savage plugged Slim Jims like his wardrobe depended on it, during the Rock/Cena rivalry of 2011/12 the term Fruity Pebbles was dropped so much that many viewers went diabetic, and the Hulk Hogan produced this. Have a good long watch of this:
What?
Now, as heinous those these plugs might be, at least didn’t interfere too heavily with the actual product, right? If John Cena wants to plug a cereal that’s fine, at least the Rock made it entertaining. If Steven Austin and...
