After being a behind-the-scenes voice in Hollywood for nearly half a decade, Justin Theroux is finally going to be making his feature directing debut.
The "Tropic Thunder" and "Iron Man 2" scribe is going to be helming and rewriting the upcoming Warner Bros. comedy "Swear to God," Deadline reports. The movie is set to star frequent collaborators Will Ferrell and Steve Carell, with Ferrell reportedly playing a narcissist who believes that God has reached out and spoken to him. "Due Date" screenwriters Alan Cohen and Alan Freedland wrote the original script.
This is a big move up in the world for Theroux, who has been dating Jennifer Aniston since May 2011. Theroux started out as an actor, appearing in films like "Mulholland Dr." and "American Psycho," before transitioning to writing in 2008. This isn't the first time he's been eyed to write and direct a comedy in recent years, either. It was...

1.) Mark Margolis has joined the cast of Darren Aronofsky's Noah, which is noteworthy because it furthers his distinction of having appeared in all of Aronofsky's films. He also recently had a run as "Tio" on AMC's "Breaking Bad" (pictured) 2). Steve Pink (Hot Tub Time Machine) is in talks with Screen Gems to direct Sexual Perversity In Chicago. The film is a remake of 1986's About Last Night, which starred Rob Lowe, Jim Belushi, Elizabeth Perkins and Demi Moore. The new version would replace them with Michael Ealy, Kevin Hart and Regina Hall, respectively, while the search is still on for a young actress to fill the Demi Moore role. Thought smart money is on an eventual title change, Sexual Perversity in Chicago is the name of the original David Mamet play about a couple who start a romantic affair despite their friends' approval. Pink is also entertaining the idea of directing Bad Santa 2,...

Anchorman co-stars Will Ferrell and Steve Carell have already found a follow-up project for after they shoot the highly anticipated sequel to their 2004 comedy smash. Deadline reports actor/writer Justin Theroux will direct both comedy vets in a film called Swear to God.
The film will center on Ferrell’s character, a “narcissistic hedge fund manager who thinks he has seen God.” The story comes from Due Date writers Alan Cohen and Alan Freedland, but Theroux has also been hired to do a rewrite.
Theroux, who had major comic supporting roles in Your Highness and February’s Wanderlust, is probably more known for his writing prowess, having made his writing debut on Tropic Thunder and serving as the lone screenwriter on Iron Man 2. Most recently, he has been tapped to write and direct Zoolander 2, which is expected to arrive in 2014.

Justin Theroux has a lot more acting credits than he does writing or directing, but the films he has contributed to as a writer are certainly noteworthy, particularly Tropic Thunder and Iron Man 2. And now it looks like he'll be doing the rewrites for Warner Bros.' comedy Swear to God, which is set to star Will Ferrell and Steve Carell. Deadline posted the news, stating that in addition to rewriting the script originally penned by Due Date's Alan Cohen and Alan Freedland, Theroux will also direct the movie, which WB is looking to get into production next July. The film follows a narcissistic hedge fund manager (Ferrell) who thinks he's seen God. There are no details offered on Carell's role, but at the very least, thanks to Anchorman and The Office, we know he and Ferrell work well together on screen. From Deadline's report, it sounds like Ferrell...

Rick Bieber, writer-director of "The 5th Quarter," starring Aidan Quinn, Andie MacDowell and Ryan Merriman, is holding an Internet-based talent search to find original songs for the sports-themed film's soundtrack and is accepting submissions at the film's Web site, www.music.the5thquartermovie.com.
The film, produced by Bieber's Angel City Pictures, tells the true story of Wake Forest University middle linebacker Jon Abbate, who, driven by a fatal car crash that took the life of his younger brother Luke, and wearing Luke's No. 5 jersey, helped lead the team to its record 11 wins in 2006.
Bieber and executive producer Bob McCreary set up the Web site to find songs in various genres, including alternative, country, rap, rock and singer-songwriter.
"It's a very recent and inspirational story which lends itself to contemporary music written by young, emerging songwriters," Bieber said of the film. "We're excited by the prospect of introducing new and...

A college football player's tribute to his late brother inspired his team to a record season, and the poignant true story is now headed for the big screen.
Ryan Merriman, Aidan Quinn and Andie MacDowell will play the Abbate family in Rick Bieber's indie drama "The 5th Quarter."
After the family's devastation after 15-year-old Luke Abbate's death in a 2006 car crash and their painful decision to donate his organs to five people, Wake Forest junior Jon Abbate (Merriman) asked his coach to change his jersey number to Luke's number, five. Just before the fourth quarter of each game, the linebacker began holding up five fingers along with his parents, Steven and Maryanne (Quinn and, in final negotiations, MacDowell) as they sat in section five of the stadium.
After news of the personal tribute spread, even opposing players and fans were joining them by the thousands, inspiring the family to...
