Netherlands-based sales agent Dfw International has added Nienke Römer’s comedy “Candy & Bonita” and war drama “Betrayal” by Thomas Nauw and Dennis Bots to its lineup ahead of this week’s American Film Market.
AFM marks the first major event for the sales agent since Studiocanal acquired a majority stake in its Benelux distribution parent Dutch FilmWorks in June.
“Candy & Bonita,” produced by 2CFilm in partnership with Rtl’s VOD service Videoland, centers on friends Tilly (Sanne Langelaar) and Marieke (Fockeline Ouwerkerk) who try to regain control of their lives by making female-friendly porn. The endeavor helps the pair find their place in the world again, but also drags everyone in their orbit into an unforgettable adventure. The film also stars Dutch porn actor and model Bobbi Eden.
The pic is currently in post-production and set for a domestic release in January 2023.

The country's audiovisual agency has earmarked a total of €3,015,000 in production bursaries for four fiction films and three documentaries. The Netherlands Film Fund, the country's film agency, has announced the recipients of its latest round of production grants. On this occasion, a total of €3,015,000 have been earmarked for four new fiction films and three documentaries. The project in receipt of the grant of the biggest magnitude is Ineke Houtman's fiction feature The Book of Everything, penned by Maarten Lebens and Richard Tulloch, and staged by Amsterdam-based outfits Fatt Productions and Kaap Holland. The drama, based on Guus Kuijer's 2004 novel of the same name, follows a boy called Thomas who finds the courage to rebel against his oppressive and overly religious father. Two new fiction flicks will receive a contribution of €650,000 each – namely, Mark de Cloe's drama Forever Yours (an Nl Film & TV production)...
Looking though the list of films playing at Rotterdam, a few caught my attention but few as much as Dutch director Mark de Cloe’s second full length feature Shocking Blue, a coming of age tale tinged with both romance and death.
It’s the story of three 16 year old boys, Willem, Jacques and Chris, who live in the Dutch countryside and spend their days on the tulip fields. The summer is in full swing and Jacques has even met a girl but tragedy strikes and Jacques ends up dead after being pulled under a tractor being driven by Willem. The film shifts from your typical coming-of-age tale to one of mourning and self reflection as Willem wonders if perhaps Jacques death wasn’t completely accidental.
The trailer for the film isn’t exactly spectacular but it does feature some gorgeous cinematography and I’m curious enough about where the...

Directed by Mark de Cloe and clocking in at 100 minutes, this is based on a supposed cult novel taught to secondary school pupils with an incredible premise: You're born and only have one day to live. You age throughout that day and die at the end. The film looks like a straight adaptation and from what I can gather they come into the real world (ours) where they can live and then I'm not sure what happens, but that's good. You can read the story of the book here but beware, spoilers abound!
English synopsis:
In a world in which a human life lasts just one day and where every action is a one-off, a boy and a girl fall so in love that they cannot bear this existence where everything happens only once. In the belief that they can prolong their love they flee to hell.
