Hayden Christensen may have started acting way before, but it was truly his iconic character of Anakin Skywalker in the Star Wars universe that quite brilliantly boosted his fame in Hollywood and made him a household name. In fact, the now-42-year-old actor fit so absolutely perfectly in the role that fans now can’t imagine anyone else as Darth Vader beside him.
Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader
Yet, for one who brought balance to the Star Wars saga and perfectly explained the events that happened before the first Star Wars film from 1977, Christensen never wanted this role, but a different one because this role felt “too big” to him. But thanks to a fortunate turn of events, Hayden Christensen got cast in the very role that transformed him into a renowned Hollywood star overnight!

The plot continues to thicken in the Relativity Media saga. Only three days after the company and would-be chairman Kevin Spacey acknowledged that the deal wasn’t going to work out after all, Relativity announced that it has landed a $400 million film financing pact with Maple Leaf Films. But as with everything related to Ryan Kavanaugh’s Relativity, the deal begs more questions than answers — primarily, how can the relative newcomer to the film financing world flex that kind of money muscle? The company, run by Tove Christensen (the older brother of Hayden Christensen) and Canadian hedge fund guru

We've had our eye on Cooties for a long time. The horror comedy co-written by Glee scribe Ian Brennan and Saw series writer Leigh Whannell has been a particular source of curiosity as it tackles something of a taboo subject in gory films - the mass killing of snot-nosed children.
Basically Elijah Wood and Rainn Wilson play teachers who find themselves up against a child-only zombie virus.

As we reported back in January, Lionsgate contracted horror-comedy Cooties after its premiere at Sundance, taking control of North American distribution for the film. But the version that sees release from the label won't quite be the same as the one screened at Sundance. Read on!
In an interview with Twitch Film at the Toronto Fan Expo, producer/star Elijah Wood spilled the beans about the last-minute change, which he says makes the film better than it previously was.
"Off of the pickup from Lionsgate, which was always the home we had hoped for, we ended up getting some more money to make a new ending, which we're really excited about," said Wood. "We only had so much money, and the ending we made we weren't always that happy with so we got to make a new ending, and we're psyched. I'm excited for people to see it; it's really funny.

Things are certainly on an upward upswing for the horror comedy with the nifty title – it just landed a multiple-territory distribution deal for Universal Pictures for a foursome of territories. Not sure if Sundance is a lieu to catch a case of the Cooties, which went into production in mid-July with directors Cary Murnion and Jonathan Milott (featured here) teaming with Elijah Wood both in the front and backend. On screen, Wood is joined by Alison Pill and television thesps such as Rainn Wilson, Jack McBrayer, Jorge Garcia and Nasim Pedrad.
Gist: Written by Ian Brennan and Leigh Whannell, this centers on a mysterious virus borne from chicken nuggets hitting an isolated elementary school and transforming the pre-adolescent children into a feral swarm of mindless cannibals. A substitute teacher emerges as the unlikely hero who must lead a motley band of teachers in the fight of their lives against them.

Magnet Releasing will be distributing Brad Anderson's new film Vanishing on 7th Street. I've been looking forward to seeing this movie and I'm happy to see that it finally got distribution. Andreson is a fantastic director that has brought us films such as Session 9, The Machinist, Transsiberian. I've enjoyed every film this guy has made, and this one looks like it's going to be a solid film as well.
When a massive power outage plunges the city of Detroit into total darkness, a disparate group of individuals (Christensen, Leguizamo, Newton) find themselves alone. The entire city’s population has vanished into thin air, leaving behind heaps of empty clothing, abandoned cars and lengthening shadows. Soon the daylight begins to disappear completely, and as the survivors gather in an abandoned tavern, they realize the darkness is out to get them, and only their rapidly diminishing light sources can keep them safe.

Starring Hayden Christensen, John Leguizamo, Thandie Newton and young R&B sensation Jacob Latimore, Vanishing On 7th Street is a scary, character driven horror film that taps into one of humankinds most basic and universal anxieties: fear of the dark. The film, which premiered at this years Toronto Film Festival, was produced by Norton Herrick, Tove Christensen and Mandalay Visions Celine Rattray, and is yet another smart and unconventional genre entry from Anderson (Session 9, The Machinist, Transsiberian), one of the most talented independent filmmakers working today.
