Here’s a brand new and exclusive behind the scenes clip from Nicolas Cage’s latest movie USS Indianapolis: Men of Courage which sees the veteran actor take on the role of Charles McWay in the movie based on a true story.
You may recall Quint’s monologue in 1974 movie Jaws where recounts the demise of the USS Indianapolis after being torpedoed by the Japanese and how all the crew of the Portland-class cruiser were forced into the shark-invested waters beneath…. well this is that very story. The USS Indianapolis was on of the ships used to deliver the atomic payload on Hiroshima and Nagasaki which would eventually see the end to the second world war come to and end in the Pacific.

In case you missed it in American history class, the first trailer for USS Indianapolis: Men Of Courage should have filled you in on the real-life Portland-class cruiser’s grueling ordeal (to put it mildly) in 1945. The latest preview offers more backstory on the ship’s crew, so we can all feel even worse about their fate.
Following the attack on Pearl Harbor, the Indianapolis is sent to deliver parts for the first atomic bomb. Captain Charles McVay (Nicolas Cage) assures his superior officer (James Remar) that his crew can make the drop. They’re successful, but the Indianapolis crew is remembered as much for the ensuing tragedy as the completion of their mission. The Japanese navy’s attack on and subsequent sinking of the Indianapolis resulted in “the greatest single loss of life at sea in the history of the U.S. Navy.”

The Golden Age of Piracy must come to an end in the latest trailer for Black Sails season 4.
Due to close the book on Starz’s swashbuckling drama on January 29, when the Treasure Island prequel series will be returning for a fourth and final 10-episode run, the sombre snippet sees our band of pirates waging war in the West Indies. The times, they are a-changing, and considering that the enticing synopsis for Black Sails season 4 portends bloodshed on the beaches of New Providence Island, long-time fans of the network’s pirate drama ought to strap in for what will surely be a thrilling conclusion.
A new threat is on the horizon, it seems, which forces Toby Stephens’ Captain Flint to spring into action. A former navy officer and London gentleman, the arc of Stephens’ bearded lead has been fascinating to watch pan out – chequered past and all – and those who...

"The Japanese are extremely disciplined adversaries, sir." Hannibal Classics and Patriot Pictures have debuted the first trailer for a WWII movie called USS Indianapolis, or in full the title is actually USS Indianapolis: Men of Courage. It's about the WWII ship the USS Indianapolis, which carried the Enola Gay bomber and pats of the atomic bomb across the Pacific, then later was torpedoed in the South Pacific in July of 1945. It sunk leaving many of the crew left stranded, drowning or dying in the ocean waiting 4 days for rescue. Nicolas Cage stars as Captain Charles B. McVay, who was court-mailed for "failing to zigzag", then exonerated more than half a century later. This looks like it has solid action, not so sure about the rest. Here's the first official trailer for Mario Van Peebles's USS Indianapolis, originally from Variety: The harrowing true story of the crew of the USS Indianapolis,...

When Paul Walker died in 2013, his brother Cody Walker, now 27, helped Universal Pictures finish "Furious 7" as a stand-in for his older brother. (Their brother Caleb did the same.) Now, Deadline reports, Cody has landed the first major acting role of his own: as a Navy soldier in "USS Indianapolis," directed by Mario Van Peebles and starring Nicolas Cage as Captain Charles McVay in an adaptation of the true 1945 story of the men who were stranded and attacked by sharks for five days in the Philippine Sea.
So far the reaction to Cody's casting has been mixed. Some fans are thrilled for him and sure Paul would be proud and happy to see his brother launching his own acting career. Other fans -- including almost everyone in the comments section under Deadline's exclusive -- are crying nepotism, wondering what Cody did to earn a major film role besides look like...

Paul Walker's youngest brother Cody is boarding his first significant feature film role after lending a hand on Fast & Furious 7.
The 27-year-old helped Universal Pictures out in the recent Furious instalment, after the death of Paul in December 2013.
According to Deadline, Cody is starting his own acting career with a major supporting role in USS Indianapolis, alongside Nicolas Cage.
Cage plays Captain Charles McVay in the Mario Van Peebles-directed feature, who was commander of a boat that sank in 1945, resulting in massive loss of life.
Based on a true story, McVay's boat was hit by a torpedo that was on a secret mission, leaving 1,196 men waiting for rescue for four days. Only 317 survived after sharks began eating those who managed to get off-board.
Cody is set to play one of the soldiers fighting for survival.
The newcomer signed up with Paradigm Talent Agency back in April.

Starz is about to launch a new swashbuckling, high-seas adventure in "Black Sails," a sort-of prequel to "Treasure Island" that sees literary characters Long John Silver and Captain Flint plus real-life pirates Captain Charles Vane, Anne Bonny and Calico Jack Rackham living and working (as it were) in and around Nassau, Bahamas, which is overseen by proprietor Eleanor Guthrie.

Mars Attacks: Robinson’s Promising Debut an Arid Mirage
Early on in Ruairi Robinson’s directorial debut, The Last Days on Mars, a generic yet eerily promising set-up will doubtlessly remind audiences of a slew of similar space gone wrong sci-fi entries, both classic and not. An unmistakable derivative of Alien, right down to finicky crew dynamics, Robinson’s rather promising presentation fails to maximize the momentum as the film dwindles into its third act inevitabilities, left wide open for the possibility of more to come.
Only nineteen hours left of a six month research mission on Mars has an eight person crew going a little stir crazy.
Science Officer Kim Aldrich (Olivia Williams) is upset that the team has found nothing substantial and it seems her hopes had been set on finding evidence of indigenous life. It seems she’s been taking out her disappointment on the other crew...

Who doesn’t like a good pirate adventure? Starz is a fan. The network has ordered episodes of Black Sails, to be delivered by Jon Steinberg and Michael Bay. Today we learned two new actors have been cast. They are Zach McGowan and Luke Arnold.
Black Sails bypassed those uncertain waters where a series is just a pilot and no one knows if it will be picked up or not. Starz immediately asked for eight episodes.
The show is set 20 years before the events depicted in Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic novel, Treasure Island, explained Deadline. The show’s lead character is Flint, a savvy pirate. He and his new shipmate John Silver are trying to survive adventures on New Providence Island. And here’s fair warning. It may look like a paradise, but the isle hides other pirates, whores, thieves and more.
British actor Toby Stephens is Captain Flint.

It's been about 60 years since the tragic sinking of the USS Indianapolis during World War II, and now that story is heading to the big screen courtesy or Warner Bros. and producer Robert Downey Jr. and his wife Susan Downey. THR reports the film will focus on the tragedy from the point-of-view of Hunter Scott, an 11-year old boy who embarked on a journey to exonerate the Indianapolis’ court-martialed captain in 1996. The boy ended up researching the tragedy as part of a History Day competition and learned how the warship was sunk by torpedoes with the crew stranded for five days and eaten by sharks. In addition, he also learned from survivors how Captain Charles McVay was unjustly court-martialed and decided it was his duty to set the record straight. The boy testified in front of Congress and was an integral part of legislation passed in October of ...

To movie fans, the WWII sinking of the USS Indianapolis is a familiar tale. Robert Shaw's gruff, poetic account of the ship's fate -- and of the shark-infested waters into which the crew plunged after torpedoes broke the ship into pieces -- is one of the crowning moments in Jaws. It's one of the enduring film monologues, period. Want to see grown men cry? Play Shaw's speech a couple times. There is a newish wrinkle in the story of the Indianapolis, however, as in 1996 a young boy, inspired by Jaws, set out to exonerate Captain Charles McVay, who had been court-martialed for his role in the ship's sinking. The boy was successful, and five years later the Captain's record was amended. Now Robert Downey, Jr. and Susan Downey will produce a film with Warner Bros. about the boy's efforts to clear the name of Captain McVay. THR [1] says that Robert Schenkkan,...

Warner Bros. Pictures, Robert Downey Jr. and his wife/producing partner Susan Downey are teaming for a new film about the sinking of the USS Indianapolis during World War II says Heat Vision
The story centers on Hunter Scott, a young boy who caused a stir in 1996 when the research he did for a school history project caused a re-examination of the case of Captain Charles McVeigh. McVeigh had been unjustly court-martialed and blamed for the sinking of the ship and the loss of hundred sailors in the shark infested waters while they were adrift and awaiting rescue over five days.
Scott eventually testified before Congress and exonerated McVay who had committed suicide in 1968. Robert Schenkkan ("The Pacific," "The Quiet American") is penning the script for the currently untitled project which the Downey's will produce.
Universal tried to adapt Scott's story a few years ago with J.J. Abrams linked as potential director.
