Director Jack Hill’s 1967 film Spider Baby or, the Maddest Story Ever Told (watch it Here) – which boasts a cast that includes Lon Chaney Jr. and Sid Haig – ranks up there as one of my all-time favorites. Rob Zombie clearly took some inspiration from Spider Baby when he was making House of 1000 Corpses, and back in 2007 we heard that a remake was in the works, coming from the Night of the Living Dead 3D team of director Jeff Broadstreet and writer Robert Valding. The one didn’t end up making it into production… but a couple weeks ago, it was confirmed that filming had just wrapped on a version of the remake that’s coming our way from Scs Entertainment and director Dustin Ferguson (Cocaine Cougar). Now our friends at Bloody Disgusting have gotten their hands on a trailer for the Spider Baby remake, and you can check it...

Director Dustin Ferguson’s remake of Jack Hill’s 1967 cult classic horror movie Spider Baby has wrapped principal photography in L.A. Says Ferguson:
We’ve reached an exhilarating milestone with the completion of the ‘Spider Baby’ remake, and I couldn’t be more thrilled to have worked with an extraordinary ensemble of genre stars such as Robert Mukes, Beverly Washburn, Brinke Stevens, and Ron Chaney. Their immense talent and commitment have breathed new life into this iconic story, infusing it with a fresh and captivating energy. I can hardly wait for audiences to experience the chilling world we’ve created when ‘Spider Baby’ premieres.
The film, from production company Scs Entertainment, tells of a pair of greedy relatives that try to repossess the Merrye Estate. But the inbred children protect their home and bloodline at all costs.

Eben McGarr's love letter to the films of days gone by has found a home that will helpfully distribute it to the masses. Taurus Entertainment, yes, that Taurus Entertainment, has acquired the film. No word yet on what they're planning to do with it, but let's just hope it's not another in-name-only sequel.
Synopsis
"Dr. Bela Reinhardt (Ron Chaney) has invited five people to his castle to see which of them will inherit his estate. He has arranged for a competition of sorts, the victor shall be determined through process of ... elimination."

Eben McGarr's love letter to the Universal classic monsters of the '30s and '40s, House of the Wolf Man , was introduced to genre fans during the fall. Shot independently, and starring Ron Chaney, the story tells of Dr. Bela Reinhardt (Chaney) and the five guests that he has invited to his castle to see which of them will inherit his estate. He has arranged for a competition of sorts, the victor shall be determined through process of elimination. Dracula, the Frankenstein monster, the Wolf Man, the gang is all here and I've heard great things about the Los Angeles screening they had here. Today, Shock Till You Drop has learned Taurus Entertainment has picked the film up. That's the production outfit behind Creepshow III , Day of the Dead 2: Contagium and the same very...

Never mind all the big budget remakes that are supposed to wow you from their opening seconds. Screw all the lame ass CGI effects that most of the time add nothing to our horror genre other than making it seem a bit more cartoonish. If you're in the market for something old school and completely badass, you need to be digging on Eben McGarr's latest feature House of the Wolf Man. We've been telling you about it for months, but now some lucky folks in La will finally get to see it!
This wicked looking black and white homage to the great horrors of yesteryear stars Ron Chaney, Dustin Fitzsimons, Jeremie Loncka, Sara Raftery, Cheryl Rodes and Jim Thalman.

Thanks to Bloody-Disgusting, we now have the trailer for "House of the Wolf Man," which is a black and white film made in a 1940s style. Check out the trailer below. In 1944, "House of Frankenstein" was released, which was followed by "House of Dracula" in 1945. Apparently, "House of the Wolf Man" was supposed to happen soon after, but never did. So director Eben Mcgarr took it upon himself to make that third film, which stars Ron Chaney, the grandson of Lon Chaney Jr (the original Wolf Man). "Dr. Bela Reinhardt (Chaney) has invited five people to his castle to see which of them will inherit his estate," Mcgarr said of the plot. "He has arranged for a competition of sorts, the victor shall be determined through process of... elimination." He added that it is intended to "slip seamlessly in with the other two movies, and with no gore, language, or sex,...

One of our eagle-eyed readers sent us a heads-up about a new installment in the Wolf Man saga entitled House of the Wolf Man that is being filmed in and around the Los Angeles area with Sick Girl (review here) director Eben McGarr pulling double duty as the film's writer and director and Lon Chaney, Jr.'s grandson, Ron Chaney, starring as the titular character.
Big Bad Wolf pointed us in the direction of Nuke the Fridge, where we learned the following: McGarr has shot the film to look exactly like a movie made in the 1940's era. House of the Wolf Man was filmed in black and white and full frame. [Along with Chaney] the cast includes Dustin Fitzsimons, Jeremie Loncka, Sara Raftery, Cheryl Rodes, Jim Thalman, and John McGarr.
As you may recall, way back when Universal released two other "House of" movies: House of Frankenstein and House of Dracula. The...

Finally, we take a breath, clear the cobwebs of mourning and peek out from beneath the shadows to find out how the late Forrest J Ackerman continues to do us good. At genre conventions from coast to coast, fans and friends pay tribute to the grand old man who made us monsters!
Ken-tucky? Yep, they Ken!
Any horror fan, young or old, who’s in it for the scare-making arts, crafts and monster makers, Must experience Wonderfest. I flew over the cool greenery and picturesque graveyards of Louisville, Kentucky to attend the first Con I’ve been to without Uncle Forry by my side. While most travelers rushed to the baggage claim to pick up luggage and trot off to watch horses run some derby, I was there for the monsters!
In its 20th year, Wonderfest is a gathering place for modelers. Make that “Super-modelers.” Builders, sculptors, painters, collectors, you name it!

(Note: This story will be "stickied" at the top of our headlines for the day. Being able to host it is an honor beyond words.)
It was a Blood-Red-letter day for fandom as pros and fans alike gathered to bid a reluctant “Forry-well” to the late great genre-icon Forrest J. Ackerman! Hollywood’s historic Egyptian Theatre served as a temple for the filled-to-capacity ritual sponsored by the American Cinematheque, Profiles in History auction house and the Ackerman estate.
Guests began waiting on line at around 1:00Pm for the scheduled 3:00Pm reception. By 2:30 over 200 bodies had congregated at the doors of the theater. Inside, staff was scrambling. Pieces of Forry’s collection were being displayed (A first edition of Dracula signed by Bram Stoker and almost everyone who ever played the famous Vampire on screen, Bela Lugosi’s Dracula cape and Forry’s fave prop: the “Robotrix” from...
