Exclusive: There’s some seriously scary stuff going on at London’s National Theatre as the venue prepares for a musical version of Roald Dahl’s The Witches that will feature book and lyrics by playwright Lucy Kirkwood, who’s also an executive consultant on Succession.
Music and lyrics are by Dave Malloy, who won acclaim for the book and score he wrote for Broadway show Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812.
The show is a co-production between the National and the Roald Dahl Story Company.
Katherine Kingsley (The Larkins) will play the Grand High Witch, whose only objective is to eliminate all children from the planet and turn them into mice. “She’s a tyrannical narcissist, truly she’s really evil. There’s no escaping the fact that she’s a bad person,” Kingsley told us.
“It’s a great role,” she laughed. “There’s a lot of fun to be had with her,...

Every time Prince Harry and Meghan Markle leave Kensington Palace, they need to be surrounded by security at all times, so it should come as no surprise that their bodyguards made protecting them a little bit easier by coming up with secret security code names for the pair. According to The Sun, Harry, 34, and Meghan, 37, allegedly go by "DS," which is short for their royal titles, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. And to make the code name even more secretive, their security sometimes calls Harry "David Stevens" and Meghan "Davina Scott." How interesting! (Photo Credit: Getty Images) Apparently, Harry and Meghan can't be called by their birth names in public because it's "far too risky." An insider recently told the Daily Star, "If anyone got hold of a phone belonging to a royal aide or security team member, they won't find Harry Windsor and Meghan's names in it." Kate...

A few days after the pageantry of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's wedding, Kate Middleton held daughter Princess Charlotte’s hand at the Houghton Horse Trials as the little royal enjoyed an ice cream and Prince George toured an air ambulance vehicle. "They have taken very hands-on parenting roles in an attempt to give their children as normal an upbringing as possible," royals expert James McCourt exclusively told Closer Weekly in the magazine's latest issue, on newsstands now. That’s also true for how Kate, 36, and William, 35, are keeping their kids safe. As parents, they must balance their worries about real dangers — a terrorist recently called for an attack against George — with raising their kids to feel secure. It’s not easy to navigate. "I’m a lot more emotional than I used to be,...

Like the title of her new album, Now, Shania Twain wants to live in the moment. And no wonder, since her past is so painful. Growing up with abusive parents, "Many nights I went to bed thinking, 'Don’t go to sleep, don’t go to sleep, wait till they are sleeping,'" she recalls of her youth. "I was worried about my father killing my mother [but] my mom was quite violent, too. I would wake up to make sure everybody was breathing." Shania, 52, has spoken about her traumatic childhood with her stepdad, Jerry Twain, but following the bitter breakup of her marriage to music producer Robert "Mutt" Lange in 2008, the country superstar says, "I started peeling back the layers of pain I was in, and all the other griefs and disappointments came to the surface." Now she’s revealed her stepfather abused her not only "physically and psychologically," but sexually,...

True Lies star Tom Arnold filed for a legal separation from his wife Shelby Roos on Monday, after four years of marriage. The actor filed for a legal separation, which involves a permanent division of assets, rather than a divorce. His spokeswoman Staci Wolfe tells People, "He doesn't know what the future holds, but he does care deeply for her." Arnold, 47, met Roos, 34, a political consultant, at the Democratic National Convention in Los Angeles in 2000. The couple were married at the Four Season Hotel in Beverly Hills on June 29, 2002. In the star's separation documents, filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, Arnold asks the court to treat the couple's Beverly Hills home, as well as all profits that Arnold had going into the marriage, as his own separate property. Arnold's previous two marriages also ended in divorce - again after four years. He was previously married to Roseanne Barr from 1990 to 1994, and to Julie Champnella from 1995 to 1999.
