- James P. Cavanagh was born on March 17, 1922 in New York City, New York, USA. He was a writer and producer, known for Alfred Hitchcock Presents (1955), Murder at the Gallop (1963) and Thriller (1960). He died on September 25, 1971 in Los Angeles, California, USA.
- Having written several well-liked scripts for Alfred Hitchcock's TV series, he was hired by Hitchcock to adapt Robert Bloch's novel, "Psycho". His first draft was, however, disliked by Hitchcock, who immediately replaced him with another TV writer, Joseph Stefano. Cavanagh continued to write for Hitchcock's TV show, nonetheless.
