Vice boss Nancy Dubuc has praised her colleagues in the field in Ukraine as bombing continues in the capital Kyiv, while taking a swipe at traditional news coverage.
This comes as the youth-skewing media company is prepping a special episode of Vice News Tonight on the developing invasion of the country as well as a documentary fronted by Sean Penn.
“Near the end of 2021 I wrote to you how I have long believed that one of the most special things about Vice Media is the human element, and the way it weaves itself into every fiber of what we create and contribute to our global communities,” Dubuc wrote in an internal memo to staff seen by Deadline. “This rings true, more than ever, with the unparalleled, brave and – most of all – human coverage of the events leading up to and throughout the invasion of Ukraine by the Russian Government this week.

Iffr’s new artistic director Bero Beyer brings television back to the big screen in Rotterdam.
Following on from the 2013 strand Signals: Changing Channels, Beyer and former Critics’ Week programmer Léo Soesanto have jointly created Episodic/Epidemic - a new strand that highlights filmmakers working within television formats.
The section sits within Perspectives - an over-arching part of the festival Bero considers as “film-making that detours to the left, to the right and upside down of cinema”.
Both Soesanto and Beyer assert it is not another festival trend, which has seen TV strands such as Berlinale’s Special Series and Toronto’s Primetime, but instead an extension of Iffr’s programming.
“This is at the heart of Rotterdam [Iffr] - we want to celebrate all the ways a filmmaker can express themselves. Whether it’s music, art, gaming, Vr or episodic - we want to find the best way to present different types of storytelling,” said Bero.

Vikings Qb Matt Cassel doesn't really view himself as a mentor to newly drafted Qb Teddy Bridgewater ... telling TMZ Sports, "I'm just a teammate brotha."Cassel recently signed a new $10 million contract with the Vikings -- which most people took as a sign that he would be starter when the 2014 season begins. That was until the Vikes took Bridgewater in the 1st round of the NFL Draft -- and rumblings immediately began that the starting job was up for grabs.

Wanna see an awkward conversation with USC quarterback Matt Barkley about the highly controversial topic of his possibly deteriorating NFL Draft status? Great! The college football star was leaving an event in Santa Monica last night when we asked if he thought he would still be a Top 10 pick when the draft rolls around in April. Of course, before the season started Barkley was a favorite to the #1 overall pick ... but after a less than...

This week saw some truly bad performances from many NFL teams, and once again the Nfc showed how much of a stronger conference it is than the Afc. Last week, we had the bottom three teams going like this:
30. Carolina Panthers
31. Kansas City Chiefs
32. Jacksonville Jaguars
Let’s take a look at what, if anything, has changed this time around. Here’s week nine’s bottom of the barrel:
30. Carolina Panthers
They are still firmly entrenched as one of the worst teams in the league. Quarterback Cam Newton has shown very little of the form that saw him have such a good rookie season last year. They still haven’t managed to sort out the running back situation, with both DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart not being terribly productive.
They have just one win all season, and will be looking to make it number two against a Washington team whose...

It’s been a rollercoaster of a ride this season with many teams proving NFL experts wrong with confounding performances. As we look ahead to week six, let’s examine which teams are at the bottom of the barrel and why they belong there. Before we begin, let’s remind ourselves of who Lester put in the bottom three last week.
30. Oakland Raiders
31. Jacksonville Jaguars
32 Cleveland Browns
30. Kansas City Chiefs
How can a team with Jamaal Charles at running back be playing so badly? They most recently lost 9-6 to the Baltimore Ravens in a game which saw Matt Cassel suffer a concussion.
Cassel hasn’t played particularly well though, throwing nine interceptions, all of which contributed to his poor 66.2 passer rating. Fans are anxious to see backup Qb Brady Quinn given a chance, but how much of a difference he will make is questionable.

Not even a week into it, and Kenny Powers‘ new campaign for K-Swiss is already shaping up to be this summer’s Old Spice Man. Incidentally, Powers even dropped his own scent commercial baked into this athlete-heavy assortment of internet win. The concept finds the Eastbound and Down star taking over the underdog show brand K-Swiss as the company’s new CEO, or really it Mfeo. He then shakes up senior management ranks by bringing in a roster full of pro athletes—Chiefs Qb Matt Cassel as the new Cmo, Ufc fighter Jon “Bones” Jones as the new Hr Director, and The Biggest Loser trainer Jillian Michaels as Director of Community Outreach. There’s a ton of these videos working their way around the internet this week, but since we know our readers are generally fans of Nsfw versions, when available, here it is. Technically, there’s nothing here that will get you fired,...

No longer a spokesman, Powers is now the Mfceo.
Multi-league lockout threats. Sex scandals involving Perkins waitresses. Cameron Diaz hand-feeding A Rod popcorn in the stands during the Super Bowl.
The sports world has clearly gone pear shaped and Kenny Powers is looking to fix it.
Powers, the fictional star of HBO series Eastbound and Down, is back in his second campaign for K-Swiss shoes, but this time he’s not just a counterintuitive spokesperson, he’s the Mfceo (if you’ve seen the show you’ll know what the extra letters stand for. If not, give it a second).
K-Swiss and agency 72andSunny raised eyebrows last year when they debuted a campaign for K-Swiss’ new Tubes shoe fronted by the foul-mouthed, burned out pitcher character co-created and played by Danny McBride.
The campaign was notable for a few reasons, not least of which was the simple fact that a...

November is here, and you probably know what that means for television: Sweeps! It’s that bountiful time of the TV season when the networks try to ramp up viewership as much as possible so they can set their advertising prices for the year. All of which means means we’ll see crazy guest stars! Specials! Awards shows! Big interviews! For example, Cher is going on 20/20 to talk Burlesque Nov. 19; ABC is airing the Country Music Awards on Nov. 10; Oprah will sit down with the Jackson clan on Nov. 8; and Gwyneth Paltrow, well, she’s appearing on both the CMAs on Nov.
