Dorothy of Oz is a new CGI animated musical from Summertime Entertainment, due out in 2012. The panel began with a clip reel composed of a few finished scenes combined with concept art. The montage showed off some of the impressive voice talent such as Glee's Lea Michele (as Dorothy herself), Wicked's Megan Hilty, Dan Aykroyd, Oliver Platt, Martin Short, Kelsey Grammer, Jim Belushi, Hugh Dancy, and Sir Patrick Stewart.
Panelists included producers Bonne Radford & Ryan Carroll, composer Debra Lurie, writer Roger Baum (grandson of original Oz creator L. Frank Baum) and voice actors Megan Hilty & Sir Patrick Stewart, in his first Comic–Con appearance.

Roger Baum said the creation of the new Oz books had its impetus as a personal bet to continue his grandfather's legacy. Producer Radford just wanted to remain faithful to the Baum legacy.

Dorothy of Oz, the upcoming animated feature film from Summertime Entertainment, will make a public appearance at San Francisco’s 2011 WonderCon on Saturday, April 2. The filmmakers will be unveiling a new Dorothy of Oz limited edition comic book at the convention.
“There’s a lot of overlap in the worlds of Oz-lovers and Comic book fans, so we figured this was an ideal medium to help set the story framework for where next year’s Dorothy Of Oz film will begin,” said Dorothy Of Oz Transmedia Producer James Jones. “The comic series will continue to reveal what happened in Oz once the wicked witch was gone, and its people fell under the control of a new menacing villain. The film will essentially pick up where the last comic left off.”
Dorothy of Oz stars Lea Michele, Dan Aykroyd, Patrick Stewart, Hugh Dancy, James Belushi, Oliver Platt, Kelsey Grammer and Martin Short.

I was talking with a group of people at a local bar over the weekend, and the conversation strayed into a discussion of starlets of the 80’s. Of course, the first woman mentioned was Tawny Kitaen. While she’d appeared in several B-movies, her most notable performance was in a Whitesnake video, rolling around on the hoods of two Jaguars in a white negligee. It was an iconic moment of the 80’s and all the attention should have boosted her movie career. But it didn’t and she started working on television, appearing on Hercules, Married… With Children and Eek The Cat. Her last movie role was in 1997’s Dead Tides, with Roddy Piper and Miles O’Keeffe.
Then, in 2002, her troubles with the law began.

The latest big rumor surrounding Hollywood remakes connects horror movie director Sam Raimi and the Oscar nominated Chinese film House of Flying Daggers. I’m afraid so, folks. Industry magazine Production Weekly listed a House of Flying Daggers remake in their December issue with Raimi set to produce alongside Josh Donen (The Quick and the Dead, Drag Me to Hell) and Ryan Carroll (Toolbox Murders). The original film, released in 2004 and directed by Yimou Zhang, was nominated for an Oscar in 2005 for Achievement in Cinematography under the film’s Director of Photography Xiaoding Zhao. The film was also nominated in the 2005 Golden Globe category for Best Foreign Film. With [...]...

Here's a weird story that's been popping up over the last couple of months that seems pretty hard to believe, but may very well be true. Zhang Yimou's romantic martial arts drama House of Flying Daggers is apparently on the remake train, and the man behind the updated version is none other than... Sam Raimi? Back in December, Production Weekly listed a House of Flying Daggers remake as one of the projects currently in development at Columbia Pictures, with Raimi attached as a producer along with Josh Donen (The Quick and the Dead, Drag Me to Hell) and Ryan Carroll (Toolbox Murders). One would assume that this would fall under Raimi's Ghost House Pictures imprint, but there is currently no information ...
