A Florida girl died on Saturday afternoon after her adult cousin allegedly sat on her to punish her for misbehaving.
Veronica Green Posey, 64, has been charged with cruelty towards and child and homicide in the death of her 9-year-old cousin, Dericka Lindsay, according to an arrest report from the Escambia County Sheriff.
Posey — who weighs 325 pounds — sat on the girl for being “out of control,” the report alleges. Posey told police that she stood up and realized that Dericka was unresponsive. She started CPR and called 911.

Prince Harry is the king of hugs.
On Tuesday, the 32-year-old royal quietly visited the Great Ormond Street Hospital in London, where he reunited with Ollie and Amelia Carroll, two siblings who are both suffering from Batten disease, an incurable and terminal cellular disease that results in progressive neurological impairment. The visit was not part of his official duties, but when the photos were shared on the family’s Facebook page, news of the heartwarming hugfest quickly spread.

It's no wonder people love Prince Harry. The prince recently reunited with Ollie Carroll, a six-year-old terminally ill child he met last year, and spent time in a hospital with both him and his little sister, Amelia Carroll. Both suffer from the rare and incurable Batten disease, a genetic childhood nervous system disorder that eventually renders patients unable to walk, see, eat or breathe. Most do not live past age 12. The kids' two older brothers were tested for it and do not have it. The children's parents Lucy Carroll and husband Mike Carroll have documented their family's struggles in a Facebook page titled Ollie's Army...

Just hours before John Jonchuck was arrested for allegedly throwing his daughter off a St. Petersburg bridge, where she fell 62 feet to her death, his strange behavior caused his attorney to call 911. Jonchuck, 25, was in attorney Genevieve Torres's office to sign paperwork about a custody dispute. His 5-year-old daughter, Phoebe, was with him. During the meeting, he rambled about his attorney being God, and asked her to read from a Swedish-language Bible. He told her that he was heading to a nearby Catholic church. When he finally left, Torres called 911. "He's nuts," Torres told the dispatcher in a 911 tape obtained by People.

Interview Matt Edwards 3 Jan 2014 - 15:03
With his new film, Her, out in the UK this week, Spike Jonze chats about directing Joaquin Phoenix, his Expendables 4 plot idea, and more...
Let me get this right out of the way: I did not want to leave at the end of this interview. I wanted to stay and talk to Spike Jonze some more. There are a few reasons for this. One is that Spike Jonze has had a long, interesting career. There’s a lot to ask him about. He’s directed so many notable music videos, some great feature films (Being John Malkovich and Where The Wild Things Are) and has been a part of the Jackass team since its inception.
Then, there’s that Spike Jonze is so much fun to talk to. Eloquent, friendly, enthusiastic and inspiring. This may rank amongst the most unprofessional things said on Den...

John Higgins is best known for his work as a colourist on books like Batman: The Killing Joke, Watchmen, and numerous Judge Dredd titles, and most recently pencilled the Before Watchmen series, Crimson Corsair. Understandably for an artist who’s spent many years working on other peoples’ properties, Higgins wanted to create something that was distinctly his and, in 1999, he created the mini-series Razorjack, scripted by Mike Carroll. This year Titan have reissued the series in hardback with 2 additional new Razorjack short stories by Higgins along with some covers.
Higgins’ years spent working on comics of various genres is evident in Razorjack which combines elements of fantasy, horror, sci-fi, and crime, and while Higgins’ story is ambitious, the multiple genres, overly complex story, furious pace and limited page count make Razorjack a confused and confusing book.

Comics and all closely-related creative works in the geek spectrum are celebrated in the Eagle Awards 2012 - with the final round of voting now open to the public.
It's a chance to pick your favourite artist, writer, colourist, letterer, editor, publisher, story, graphic novel and comics magazine, along with American, British, European and manga titles.
But it goes beyond the printed page. There will be trophies for best web-based comic and comics website, while a further accolade will honour the best comics-related TV show or movie.
All the nominations are listed in full below.
It's apparent that the TV/film nominations do not necessarily have to be adapted from a comic. The contenders in this category are: The Big Bang Theory, The Walking Dead, X-Men; First Class, Captain America and Misfits.
The Big Bang Theory isn't derived from a comic but features four characters who are keen fans of comics and sci-fi culture.
