We are leaving Kubrick behind and fast approaching Hyams. If you get that reference, go grab yourself a cookie. It is time for us to reflect back on the decade that was. On January 1st, 2000, Disney released Fantasia 2000. On Wednesday, December 30th, 2009, The White Ribbon is set to bow. Between the release of these two films, thousands of films came and went, and some of them were far more memorable than others. It was a long trek getting this list together, but here are our collective top 100 films of the past decade.

This sounds like quite the charming big-screen duo. Zach Galifianakis from "The Hangover" and Amy Adams are in talks to join John Carney's upcoming Fox 2000 comedy-drama "Town House."
The story, according to Variety, follows an agoraphobic man who lives in a Boston townhouse and befriends a call girl after he sees the royalties from the work of his rock star father dimish rather quickly.
Doug Wright and Carney wrote the screenplay, which is inspired by Tish Cohen's novel. Brothers Ridley and Tony Scott are on board to produced the project, which fell victim to the recent writers strike. »

While the Writer's Guild strike in the later part of 2007 stalled a plethora of productions, many of them were able to get back on their feet once the strike had subsided. However, there are still some that fell through the cracks and have yet to pick-up the momentum they had before the strike. This is no longer the case for one such project as Variety reports that Zach Galifianakis (The Hangover) and Amy Adams (Julie & Julia) have joined Town House, a dramatic comedy (because I hate the word dramedy) from producers Ridley and Tony Scott and Once director John Carney who wrote the script with Doug Wright. The story is loosely based on Tish Cohen's debut novel about an agoraphobic man (Galifianakis), who passes the time with his son in a historic Boston townhouse passed down to him from his deceased rock star father. When his inheritance begins to run out, »

Zach Galifianakis and Amy Adams are two comedic actors that have long bubbled under the surface of mainstream appeal. In the past two years, however, they’ve exploded into the limelight with films such as The Hangover and Julie & Julia. Now, both actors are slated to appear in Fox 2000’s new comedic drama Town House.
Directed by Once’s John Carney, the film is just now pushing toward production after long delays due to the recent writers’ strike, with producing credits going to Tony and Ridley Scott (who once again, I argue, is slowly encompassing every film under the sun).
According to Variety, Town House is loosely based on author Tish Cohen’s novel of the same name, which centers around “an agoraphobic man, who lives with his teenage son in a historic Boston townhouse that he inherited from his rock star father. With royalties from his father’s work dwindling, »

Zach Galifianakis and Amy Adams are quickly becoming two actors that I really enjoy, and so it’s nice to see that they’re both starring together in a film called Town House, which, according to Variety, is based on a novel by Tish Cohen about: …an agoraphobic man, who lives with his teenage son in a historic Boston townhouse that he inherited from his rock star father. With royalties from his father’s work dwindling, the man is forced to come to terms with his life. A call girl strikes up a friendship with the man. Doug Wright and Carney adapted the screenplay. I learned from House that agoraphobia is fear of public places (TV can teach you something). Development of the film began when John Carney came aboard in July 2007 but quickly broke down during the writers strike. Now it looks like the film will be released in »

Normally a drama about a sheltered man who strikes up a friendship with a call girl wouldn't be a movie that would register high on my radar. But Town House is a movie that's got me all kinds of excited for the talent it has attracted. Zach Galifianakis and Amy Adams have signed on to star in the pic, which will be directed by John Carney (Once) and produced by Ridley Scott. If you visit the site at all, you know my feelings about Amy Adams. Equal parts adorable and talented. »

Before I begin on this casting update -- But has anyone ever seen Zach Galifianakis without his beard? It's crazy. He's actually a pretty normal looking dude. Anyway, I digress...
Galifianakis is normal looking enough to make it plausible for him and Amy Adams to co-star in Fox 2000's dramedy Town House.
Amy Adams, Zach Galifianakis in Talks for Town House
Don't start counting the chickens just yet, as Fox 2000 have run into a number of delays when trying to get Town House into production. After picking up John Carney to direct back in 2007, the studio had to immediately put the project on hold when the Writers Strike kicked in. Now that that's over, the casting of Adams and Galifianakis could just be what this film needs to get rolling. »

Zach Galifianakis and Amy Adams have signed on to star in the long-gestating comedy drama, Town House.Galifianakis, stretching his wings a little after booking a series of comedic roles in the wake of his breakout performance in The Hangover, will play an agoraphobic man who lives, with his teenage son, in a large house bought and paid for by his late rock star dad. When the royalty cheques stop arriving, the man has to reassess his life and attitude, with the help of a friendly prostitute, in the shape of Adams.About A Boy meets Pretty Woman, anyone? Now here’s material that could go either way, with enormous potential for tipping over into the irredeemably mawkish. But we have faith that Galifianakis, who doesn’t seem to have a sentimental bone in his body, can turn this the other way, into a sharp and affecting comedy drama. No »

Now this seems like a winning combination. Zach Galifianakis has been riding a rocket of success following his scene-stealing performance in The Hangover, and Amy Adams is simply always fun to see on screen. The two are currently in talks for the next film by John Carney, director of Once, which was among my favorite films of its year. The project is a dramedy entitled Town House which has been brewing since before the writer's strike in 2007. According to Variety, the film is based on the Tish Cohen novel of the same name. The plot revolves around an agoraphobic man who lives in an inherited town house with his teenage son. He's forced to reassess his life after royalties from his rock star father start to dry up, and ends up befriending a call girl. The film was adapted by Carney and Quills writer Doug Wright. What does Zach Galifianakis have in common with British actor Michael Sheen? Well, as Sheen is the de facto guy in Hollywood to play former Prime Minister Tony Blair, Galifianakis is quickly becoming a stock commodity of his own -- he's Hollywood's resident crazy person. According to Variety, Galifianakis is once again signing on to play an 'offbeat' character (that's putting it lightly) in the long-gestating dramedy Town House. The pic is being produced by Ridley and Tony Scott through their Fox-based Scott Free production banner. Galifianakis will play an agoraphobic man, who lives with his teenage son in a historic Boston townhouse that he inherited from his rock star father. With royalties from his father's work dwindling, the man is forced to come to terms with his life, and along the way he strikes up a friendship with a call girl. Amy Adams (Night at the Museum 2) has also signed on to the project. And »

I do love it when two of my favorite Hollywood actors decide to work together. Both Zach Galifianakis and Amy Adams are very funny and sexy (more Galifianakis than Adams on both counts) but I would’ve never thought to pair them in a movie. But it looks like they’ll be moving into “Once” director John Carney’s “Town House”. Hit the jump for details about how this amazing pairing are signing on to what sounds like an awful movie.
Here is how Variety describes the story which is loosely based on Tish Cohen’s debut novel of the same name:
[Town House] centers on an agoraphobic man, who lives with his teenage son in a historic Boston townhouse that he inherited from his rock star father. With royalties from his father’s work dwindling, the man is forced to come to terms with his life. A call girl strikes up a friendship with the man. »

More new projects from Judd Apatow? Now, now, don't fear, these may turn out great! ComingSoon has learned about two new projects that Apatow is developing with two very talented indie filmmakers. First up, he revealed that he's working with John Carney, the Irish filmmaker who brought us the wonderful flick Once. Apatow is also working with Kimberly Peirce, who brought us Boys Don't Cry and Stop-Loss, to develop an untitled romantic sex comedy. Unfortunately, we don't know anything about the project he's developing with Carney, but ComingSoon did find out a bit more about Kimberly Peirce's project. Read on! "I am thrilled and excited to be working with Judd," Peirce told them. She is writing and will direct the comedy, but didn't say anything else about it. However, they did some snooping and found this description for her feature: "In the vein of Pedro Almodovar and Woody Allen »

ComingSoon has learned that Judd Apatow is developing a romantic sex comedy project with Kimberly Peirce, the indie film director responsible for Boys Don't Cry and Stop-Loss. Apatow also revealed that he's developing a comedy project with John Carney, the director of the 2007 Sundance micro-budget musical Once. While no further details have been revealed about the Carney/Apatow team-up, details of Peirce's next project can be found of the filmmaker's official website: "in the vein of Pedro Almodovar and Woody Allen in which a 'guy's' group of friends resuscitates him from the worst possible breakup, and trains him to find true love in this gender twist on the classic romantic comedy." I had read about this project at an earlier point, and the plan was for Apatow to co-write on the final draft with production to begin in 2009. It doesn't seem like they are far enough along to begin principal »
