It’s time for a new episode of the Awfully Good Horror Movies video series, and in this one we’re looking back at one of the least popular installments in my beloved Friday the 13th franchise. That’s the tenth entry, Jason X (watch it Here), also known as “the one where Jason goes to space”. To hear all about it, check out the video embedded above!
Directed by Jim Isaac from a screenplay written by Todd Farmer (and some uncredited rewriters), Jason X has the following synopsis: The year is 2455. The Place is Old Earth. Once the shimmering blue jewel of the galaxy, Old Earth is now a contaminated planet abandoned for centuries. Yet humans have returned to the deadly place that they once fled. Not to live, but to research the ancient rusting artifacts of the bygone civilizations that caused this environmental disaster. And little does the...

NBC's adaptation of The Gates, based on a British comedy about parents dropping their kids off after school has added Ken Marino and Aasif Mandvi to its cast.
Steve Carrell confirmed he won't be returning to The Office for the finale, Carrell told Access Hollywood, "I just didn’t think it was right for the character, because that character had had an arch within the story and kind of grew and sort of evolved past the idea of the documentary."
As the revamping of Army Wives continues, we learn that Brooke Shields is joining the drama.
Steve Howey will appear in an upcoming episode of New Girl as a professional football player who catches Jess' eye, according to TVLine.
There's a part me that would like to give Beauty and the Beast another chance.

We first heard about Abominable Snowman back in May of 2011, when it was called Deadly Descent: The Legend of the Abominable Snowman. But with the film about to debut on Syfy, the title's been shortened, and we have info on the premiere date for it along with Tasmanian Devil.
The latter film premieres Saturday, January 19th, at 9Pm – In Tasmanian Devil, starring Danica McKellar ("The Wonder Years") and Olympian medalist Apolo Ohno, a group of daredevil base jumpers in New Zealand confront oversized Tasmanian devils determined to kill them.
As for Abominable Snowman, look for it on Saturday, January 26th, at 9Pm – Friends go on a snowy adventure and come face to face with a deadly creature. The movie stars Adrian Paul ("Highlander") and Chuck Campbell ("Stargate: Atlantis").
We should have trailers and more for both of these Syfy Original Movies shortly so stay tuned!

It’s true; no matter what certain networks may claim about their “winter finales,” winter doesn’t actually start until December 21, and isn’t over until March 20. Syfy, at least, understands this, and has announced their appropriately-titled winter schedule accordingly.
Happily this means that, starting on Monday, January 14, 2013, we will have some great television to get us through the cold months, including the return of Being Human and Lost Girl, and the premiere of Continuum, and later in the week, the return of Ghost Hunters and Face Off.
Here’s the schedule of premieres, along with series synopses:
Syfy’S 2013 Winter Programming Highlighted By Series Premieres Of Ghost Mine, Robot Combat League, Stranded And Continuum Season Returns Of Hits Being Human, Face Off, Total Blackout, Ghost Hunters, Lost Girl, Haunted Collector And Final Season Of Merlin

Funny how things can evolve throughout the creative process. When I first saw a listing for Deadly Descent on UFO International Productions' website months ago, the synopsis described skiers and snowboarders trapped on a mountain by an avalanche having to also deal with a pack of wild dogs after them. Somewhere along the way those ravenous dogs got turned into a Yeti and the title got massively elongated to Deadly Descent: The Legend of the Abominable Snowman.
In 1992 Glacier Peak, Washington, a small group of back country skiers climb Glacier Peak, one of most remote mountains in the Cascade Range. Lead by Jake Tanner, the group is somewhere high up on the mountain where they disappear and are never seen again.
Present Day - Glacier Peak. A helicopter soars over the snowy peak. In the rear cabin is a U.S. Special Forces member fresh off a long tour in Afghanistan: Brian Tanner.

UFO International Productions continues to feed the trash compactor with Deadly Descent: The Legend of the Abominable Snowman , starring Chuck Campbell and Adrian Paul. The art below is what they're using to sell the picture. Just screams "Abominable Snowman," right? I took a gander at UFO's site and I see there's another Deadly Descent listed - complete with action-packed art . But the plot that goes with that page details another story that does not include an abominable snowman. Instead, a pack of genetically engineered wolves are after snowboarders. So, either UFO has a series of Deadly Descent films in the works or they just said halfway through development, "F**k the wolves, let's go with a goddamn Yeti."...

Chicago – The world of TV on DVD is running out of candidates for lavish “Complete Series” box sets. The fact is that there hasn’t been a major hit that shut down shop in awhile and there’s been something of a gap in the production of these multi-disc gift sets between “Battlestar Galactica” and this summer’s highly anticipated “Lost” set.
Blu-Ray Rating: 3.5/5.0
The dearth of new network hits and the low per-season quantity of episodes for cable hits is going to make 26-disc sets like the new one for “Stargate Atlantis” fewer and farther between. (For example, even a long-running show like “Entourage” has at least two seasons to go before it gets to 100 episodes.) And sometimes quantity is king. Sometimes you just want something gigantic on your shelf to impress your friends in much the same way that people drive giant SUVs and the massive “Stargate Atlantis...
