In addition to still-life model at MoMA and dance leader at Ebertfest, Tilda Swinton has now added “Redditeer” to her resume. She was on hand Monday for an Ama to promote Snowpiercer and put on her signature arty charm, earning a few nicknames (T-Swinny), declaring her love of Alt-j and revealing she’s actually a clone of David Bowie in the process. Here’s a few of some her best answers:
Have you ever considered changing your name (or at least how it appears in print) to the tilde symbol “~” a la Prince?
Frankly no, but since you mention it.. ~ xo
(Reddit also had some fun with this, calling her “~Swinton”, “Approximately Swinton”, “On the Order of Swinton”, “Deviantart user Swinton” and “Not Swinton”)
The Grand Budapest Hotel and Only Lovers Left Alive both seem like they must have been very fun movies to work on, was that the case?...

I hope you came here already knowing Tilda Swinton is perhaps the definitive bad-ass movie star. What hasn't she done? Who hasn't she played? When haven't we been stunned by her commitment, coolness, and ferocious ebullience? There is no adequate parallel to Tilda Swinton, unless you count a photo-negative of Grace Jones. The Oscar-winning actress conducted an "Ask Me Anything" Reddit forum where she kept on being awesome. Here are all the awesome thing she said. 1. She listed her favorite comedians: "Amy Schumer!! Bill Murray Mitch Hedberg Will Ferrell Bill Hader Chris Morris Graham Linehan John Finnemore and many many many many many more Comedy = lifeblood" 2. She compared moviemaking to summer camp. "Working with both Jim Jarmusch and Wes Anderson is like the summer camp of dreams.. with significant themic differences.. Wes Camp means all staying in a big house together and eating round one big table every night, none...

Today, international woman of mystery Tilda Swinton took to Reddit to field questions from fans and to plug her new film, Bong Joon-ho's sci-fi epic Snowpiercer. Along with discussing her craft and career, we also learned that she loves Amy Schumer (Tilda: She's just like us!), has been known to make lewd sculptures out of vegetables, and that she may in fact be a clone of David Bowie. Here are some of the best bits:On the difference between working with Jim Jarmusch and Wes Anderson: "Working with both Jim Jarmusch and Wes Anderson is like the summer camp of dreams.. with significant themic differences.. Wes Camp means all staying in a big house together and eating round one big table every night, none of that trailer stuff that big movies do, which tends to divide people out and make for lonely days (so I hear).. Jim Camp is rock...

My productivity has gone to hell this week because of one man: LeBron James. I'm a Knicks fan, and after a decade of misery and humiliation, and after two years spent gutting the (admittedly heinous) roster for a shot at this one guy, I'm far more invested in the LeBron free agent sweepstakes than I should be. As a member of the media, I understand how the business works, and therefore that at least 99% of the tweets and blog posts and Espn interviews about what "league sources" and "a source close to the James camp" know about where LeBron is...
