On Saturday Feb 21, 2010, author Maura McHugh, aka 'Splinister', wrote a blog post entitled 'SFX forgets women in horror', and the result has been nothing short of huge.
McHugh's article noted that out of 34 horror industry professionals interviewed for an important article in the U.K. SFX Magazine Issue # 192 about their favorite horror movies and books, not one was a woman. Of all their answers, she further points out, only one recommended the work of a woman...
SFX Magazine may not have immediately heeded one woman's intelligent argument that they either deliberately, or negligently, underrepresented women in the magazine, but the UK Guardian and feminist blog The F Word both picked up on it and made the discrepency a news topic that SFX editor Ian Berriman couldn't possibly ignore.
In addition to her blog post, McHugh wrote a direct letter to the editor expressing her disappointment at not seeing more women's...

Anya Camilleri (director of the Tara Reid horror vehicle Incubus) will direct Sharon Stone in the upcoming Satisfaction. Also starring Carice van Houten and to arrive in 2010 from Media 8 Entertainment.
Satisfaction is a sexy, smart and edgy drama/thriller about a young male gigolo, set in London. He usually leaves the women when a better opportunity comes along - until he meets Emma.

If the name Sharon Stone pops up, most likely the brain will fly to memories of the woman who has made a name for herself as the man-izer -- strong and wickedly ruthless to the male sex. It's a theme so rampant in her work that it even became a reference point in Scream: "Your mother is no Sharon Stone." Naturally then, when it's time to cast a "rich and manipulative older woman," sights turn to the tow-headed vixen.
Variety reports that Stone and Carice Van Houten are going to star in a new indie drama called Satisfaction. Written by Simon Burke and to be directed by Anya Camilleri, the film will focus on "a young gigolo in London" who gets caught between Stone's manipulation and a "younger woman" (Van Houten). Variety makes no mention of who will play the gigolo, but according to Stone's recent talk with Prestige, Chris Evans will be the dude.

What do having sex with Sharon Stone, having sex with Carice Van Houten, and having sex for money have in common? I'll give you a hint, and it's not having sex: these two actresses will play the women a British gigolo is torn between in the newest indie drama, Satisfaction. The film will begin production in early 2010, and is to be directed by Anya Camilleri (Ny-Lon). Variety reports that John Evangelides (A Good Woman) and Cerise Hallam Larkin (I Could Never Be Your Woman) will produce, and Simon Burke (The Picture of Dorian Gray, Liverpool, Ny-Lon) is spearheading the script. For an indie film, these are two hard-hitting leading ladies. Stone will play a cougar caught in a love triangle with her gigolo and his younger woman, played by Van Houten. Stone, who is 51 and single, doesn't mind playing a cougar, but made it pretty clear at the Hamptons Film Festival that she doesn't want to be...

Sharon Stone, the somewhat legendary sex symbol who emphasized the sex part of that term in films like Basic Instinct, has joined the cast of the U.K.-produced film Satisfaction. The film will be directed by Anya Camilleri, who’s somewhat of an unknown responsible for the Tara Reid vehicle Incubus.
Alongside Stone is Carice Van Houten, recently seen in Valkyrie as Tom Cruise’s character’s wife. The film revolves around “a young gigolo in London, who finds himself caught between a rich and manipulative older woman (Stone) and a younger woman (Van Houten).” Stone as a seductress? You don’t say.
The script for the film, which will start shooting early next year, has been penned by Simon Burke, the man behind Camilleri’s NY-lon and Persuasion. Thus, we have a crew with a predominantly small screen background working towards a theatrical break. Will it be enough...

Fantastic Four actor Chris Evans is trading in his superhero status to become a gigolo in a new Sharon Stone movie.
The pair is set to star in new drama Satisfaction, about a male prostitute who develops a relationship with an older woman, played by Stone.
She tells Prestige magazine, "You think they have legitimately fallen in love, by his behaviour and her behaviour, until the call-out service starts sending him out again while he's with her.
"He starts trying to break her down. And it's incredible what they do together: a very, very fascinating journey."
Satisfaction will be directed by Anya Camilleri and shooting will begin in January in London and Rome, Italy.

If you’re wondering where Sharon Stone has been since her Anchor Bay release of Streets of Blood, you’re not the only one.
Prestige Magazine asked the Basic Instinct star if she had any current projects. I’m imagining it went a little something like this:
Prestige: So…Sharon Stone, what’s goin’ down?
Sharon Stone: I’m not sure what you mean? Is that an invitation for cunnilingus?
Prestige: Actually, it’s a dated urban vernacular for asking if there are any new events occurring that you may wish to share with us. I figured you might know this since you worked on Streets of Blood with 50 Cent…
Sharon Stone: Of course I knew that. I just thought…anyway, yes I am, it’s called Satisfaction. It’s a movie. It has sex in it. That’s what I do.
Stone will be playing an “older...

What the hell happened to Sharon Stone? She was a jobbing D-lister for years before a breakthrough role in Basic Instinct thrust her onto the A-list but while there she did little of note except for a solid performance in Martin Scorsese's (not as good as Goodfellas) gangster-epic Casino before disappearing into charity-work, red-carpet appearances, taking shocking roles in terrible films, and posing topless at the age of 51.
Then, just when we were about to forget her, here she is in the magazine Prestige telling us all about how she's set to start filming a new film in London and Rome alongside Chris Evans and Carice Van Houten.
"It's about a male prostitute in London who loses the older woman who's been taking care of him, and the call-out agency he's worked for is tired of his behaviour and don't want to send him out any more. He goes...

Sharon Stone recently revealed in Prestige magazine that she will start shooting Satisfaction in January 2010. To be directed by Anya Camilleri, the drama will co-star Chris Evans and Carice van Houten ( Valkyrie ). According Stone, Satisfaction is "about a male prostitute in London who loses the older woman who's been taking care of him, and the call-out agency he's worked for is tired of his behavior and don't want to send him out any more. He goes looking for someone else to take care of him and he keeps trying to come on to [my character]. You think they have legitimately fallen in love, by his behavior and her behavior . until the call-out service starts sending him out again while he's with her. He starts trying to break her down. And it's incredible what they do...
