London’s Raindance Festival has announced the launch of a new event as part of its Web Fest sidebar.
The inaugural StreaMART will be held on Sept 25 and 27 at London’s Mayfair Hotel, providing networking opportunities for talent, producers and platforms operating in the online video content space.
The event will aim to bring together content creators and filmmakers with the distribution and production side of the web content industry.
Companies set to attend the event include YouTube, Film4 Digital, BBC Comedy, Dailymotion and Endemol Beyond.
“The majority of UK creators working online have to date, been isolated from the mainstream of media production,” said Web Fest founder Elisar Cabrera.
“StreaMART will plug the gap in the UK for an event where creators meet, inspire and ultimately will go on to produce great content for the web by learning from our experts.”

In part four of our FrightFest special feature ‘Unwanted Guests’, HeyUGuys interrogated director Ate de Jong and producer Elisar Cabrera about contributing an invasive descent into human nature – spiralling into the depths of repression and emotional and physical abuse for their independent home invasion drama Deadly Virtues.
What does it mean to have played at FILM4 Frightfest?
Elisar Cabrera: Well as a Londoner it is quite thrilling, and although I have been to FrightFest before as a sales agent and I have represented films here, this is my first time as a producer.
Ate de Jong: It is actually a very strange experience. I’ve lived in London for fourteen years,...

London -- U.S. boutique indie distributor Phase 4 has bounced for all North American rights to "Freestyle," Kolton Lee's basketball and music fuelled youth drama.
Carey Fitzgerald's High Point Films struck the deal with Phase 4 as this year's London U.K. Film Focus (Luff) market gets underway.
Backed by Film London Microwave's low budget funding scheme, Lee's movie mixes basketball moves with the latest music from up-and-coming Grime and R&B artists.
High Point sales and marketing director Elisar Cabrera sealed the deal with Phase 4 vp, strategic development Jessica Labi.
The U.S. banner's recent acquisitions from U.K. shores include "The Freebie" starring Dax Shepherd and action thriller "Dead Man Running" starring Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson.
Fitzgerald said: "Their [the Phase 4 team] clear enthusiasm and understanding for the film, combined with an excellent track record among U.S. and Canadian independent distributors, leaves us in no doubt that they will do the best job.

London -- L.A.-based Strand Releasing has snapped up all North American rights to documentary "Cameraman: The Life and Work of Jack Cardiff," in a deal struck by U.K. sales and finance label High Point Films.
The doc unspooled during this year's Cannes Classics and is described by director Craig McCall as "a conversation" with the Oscar-winning cinematographer who died last year.
Strand Releasing co-president Jon Gerrans secured rights to the doc after seeing it during last month's Festival de Cannes in a deal negotiated with High Point sales director Elisar Cabrera.
"Of the several U.S. companies clambering for North American rights, we believe that Strand Releasing demonstrates a key understanding in the film that sets them apart from the crowd, and we have every confidence they will do an excellent job," said High Point managing director Carey Fitzgerald.

Four films have been selected from four different European countries by the Efp strictly for the trade and by invitation only. The only reason I'm posting this is to see who is actually reading it...if you are, let me know. The screening schedule is as follows:
Monday, June 22nd
6:00pm: A Town Called Panic directed by Stéphane Aubier & Vincent Patar (Belgium)
With Guest: International Sales Agent Fionnuala Jamison from the Coproduction Office
Sydney's comment: I saw this at the Cannes Film Festival and was astounded at how hilarious and completely absurd it was. No one left the screening room; we willingly suspended all disbelief in what was possible. It is an utterly enchanting Family Film par excellence. It's based on a popular European TV series. You won't even find this title in IMDb! But in Cannes Coproduction Office licensed it to Cineart for Benelux, Optimum for UK, Madman for Australia,...
