Two weeks after what would have been Juice Wrld’s 25th birthday — and a week after the four-year anniversary of his death — the rapper’s estate has shared a new song titled “Lace It,” featuring Eminem.
Both rappers warn of the dangers of addiction over their respective verses on the Benny Blanco-produced track, with Eminem — who survived his own battle with drugs — listing some of his musical peers that didn’t make it: Lil Peep, Ol’ Dirty Bastard, Shock G, Pimp C, Prince, and Michael Jackson.

The special, filmed at Inglewood’s YouTube Theater on Nov, 8, features a laundry list of performers spanning both decades and regions. Lockerverse — a startup platform for college and pro athletes, creators and artists to monetize their fanbases and offer exclusives by selling digital collectibles and merchandise — has linked up with CAA to represent it, a move that could hasten its access to sports talent.

Jay-Z rose to fame in the late 1990s in the wake of iconic New York rappers such as Nas and The Notorious B.I.G. At the turn of the millennium, Jay-Z released the single “Big Pimpin'” with Pimp C and Bun B of Ugk. And though the two hip-hop icons eventually jumped on the track with Jay, Pimp C needed some convincing after deducing that one of Jay-Z’s lyrics in the song was about masturbation.

At the center of Freddie Gibbs’ oul old eparately is “Rabbit Vision,” which finds him regretting moments in his life. “Me and Jeezy haven’t spoken in years, but I got love for him/Coulda talked it out, but I spoke out, I let it get to me,” he raps, offering an olive branch to the man who signed him in 2011 before the two had a very public falling-out. A Megan Thee Stallion verse is not unlike a bag of salt and vinegar chips—there’s something classic and quaint and straight-up hood about the sharp and improbable flavors packed inside every one of them. There were always going to be some quirky juxtapositions with Meg. The twenty-something spitter is an old soul who swears by Pimp C and Biggie and Juicy J. While other rappers her age couldn’t point out Pete Rock in a police lineup, nearly every time Meg spits a freestyle in one of her many viral clips,...

Here's a double dose of good news for Kendrick Lamar: To Pimp a Butterfly is his first No. 1 album on the Billboard 200; it's also anyone's first time getting the word pimp to the top of the chart. The next-highest-charting album with pimp in its title was Pimp C's Pimpalation (No. 3 in 2006). As Billboard pointed out, the word butterfly is much more well acquainted with the top, thanks to Mariah Carey and Bob Carlisle, which just proves the ancient adage: It's hard out there for pimp.

Rome, Ga. (AP) — Despite the wet and muddy conditions, the energy was high for Outkast's performance in their home state at the CounterPoint Music & Arts Festival. Organizers suspended the festival due to heavy rain and inclement weather, pushing Outkast's set back more than an hour Sunday night. But the Grammy-winning rap duo still put on an energetic show that kept the crowd jamming in the late hours. Outkast was one of the final acts to close out the three-day festival in Rome, Ga., which is about 60 miles northwest of downtown Atlanta. The group, which consist of Andre "Andre 3000" Benjamin and Antwan "Big Boi" Patton, grew up in East Point, Ga. "I know you're all muddy and dirty," said a chuckling Andre 3000, who was wearing a white wig and a black jumpsuit with a white X on the chest. "And I know y'all are going to want to go home and take a shower.

Los Angeles -- Hip-hop may need a checkup.
The culture that in the 1990s lost its brightest stars to gun violence has in recent years seen a series of notable rappers die of drug- and health-related causes. Since 2011, hip-pop pioneer Heavy D, singer and rap chorus specialist Nate Dogg and New York rapper Tim Dog all died of ailments in their 40s. Kriss Kross rapper Chris Kelly was found dead last week in Atlanta of a suspected drug overdose at 34.
Some of the genre's elder statesmen say they're worried about the culture's focus on youth, current emphasis on freewheeling partying and "you only live once" ethos, as popularized by Drake's 2011 hit "The Motto."
"Hip-hop being a lifestyle culture ... a part of American culture, you have to be mindful that somebody is going to grow old, age," said rap pioneer Melle Mel. "At some point somebody has to realize that hip-hop...

Rush Limbaugh took to the radio airwaves on Wednesday, Mar. 20 to slam Beyoncé and her new highly confident anthem. But Rush clearly didn’t even listen to the song.
Rush Limbaugh, who has a history of attacking smart, strong women, has turned his venomous voice on Beyoncé.
He ranted on The Rush Limbaugh Show March 20 that Beyoncé has made a “complete 180″ from her normally empowering songs for women.
He claimed that her new song “Bow Down” instructs her female fans to “bow down” before their boyfriends and husbands, just like she is doing before her wealthy and successful husband Jay-z!
“[Destiny's Child] songs were attempts to inspire young women not to take any grief from men. She’s done a 180,” Rush said on his show. “Beyoncé, now having been married, having been impregnated and giving birth to Blue Ivy … she’s got a new song, ‘Bow, Down Bitches’ … Beyoncé is now saying,...

Not that we didn’t already know this, but Lil Wayne is owning up to having a sizzurp addiction, which he apparently kicked last year, TMZ reports. The rapper’s confessing his problem in a documentary-style video, specifically speaking about how he used to tank up on sizzurp — which is a codeine based cough syrup — as he got more and more famous, to cope with the pressure. He got hooked initially as a kid because Pimp C, who died of an accidental overdose from the drink in 2007, used to rap about it. Pimp C was also one of Weezy‘s idols. Of quitting his habit, Wayne’s saying, “I’m not sick anymore.” We’re glad he stopped but we’re even more glad that he’s talking about it.

Rapper Bun B has threatened to sue the designers behind a line of T-shirts bearing his likeness and that of his late Ugk bandmate Pimp C.
The hip-hop star was alerted to the merchandise via a fan on Twitter.com, who sent Bun B a link to the black and white top bearing the images of the Ugk pals next to the words "Trillionaire Boys Club", making use of the slang made famous by the Texas duo.
But Bun B had no idea his face was being used to sell the clothing range and he's vowed to take legal action against the manufacturers.
After viewing the link, he wrote on his Twitter page, "Unless there's a contract with me/estate (of Pimp C), you're looking at a lawsuit." Pimp C died in December 2007.

Lyricists like fellow southern spitters Rick Ross, Big Boi and Chamillionaire remembered Pimp with a simple "R.I.P. Pimp C" tweet. Even though he's incarcerated, T.I. made sure to dispatch his social-media team to send e-love to the fallen star.

Drake lays his game down flat on Bun B's "Put It Down," from the certified classic Trill O.G.
"I just bought a car/ The n---a Pimp owned it," Drizzy rhymes on the chorus, paying homage to Ugk's Pimp C. "I threw some tints on it/ He would have loved it how/ Put it down, put it down."
In his guest verse, the Toronto native says, "I got 100 girls in each phone/ Drizzy Drake mane, Young Sweet Jones."
Sweet Jones, of course, was the late Pimp C's nickname. In fact, a posthumous Pimp album, due on October 5, is titled The Naked Soul of Sweet Jones. (Drake...

On Tuesday night (September 14) at Yankee Stadium, the Brooklyn rapper closed out the fourth of his and Eminem's Home and Home shows (two in Detroit, two in the Bronx) with a performance that would make A-Rod envious.
"Break a record in this bitch, Hov," he rapped during a freestyle right after the opening number, the intro to his The Dynasty: Roc La Familia album. "Hit them with that Balco."
The Roc Nation head, however, wouldn't need any performance-enhancing substances to give him an extra boost on this night. He confidently cruised through 90 minutes of material; Jay-z was just as cool as the fall night.

Bun B's latest album Trill O.G., which dropped this week, has become the latest recipient of the vaunted five mics from The Source, the first LP to grab the honor since Lil' Kim's 2005 release, The Naked Truth. Although a number of rap albums were eventually bumped up from an initial less-than-five or non-existent rating (either because they were re-considered or because their release dates preceded the magazine's founding), Bun's solo record is one of only 14 albums to get the Source's five mics immediately upon release, marking it superior from the get-go.
And although he's nearly 20 years into the game, Bun still considers himself a late prodigy, as he told our Mixtape Daily recently. Since the tragic death of his Ugk brother in 2007, Pimp C, Bun has turned his attention to his solo career. Now, with the release of Trill O.G., Bun can bask in the moment,...

Headliner: Bun B
Key Collaborations: "It's Been a Pleasure" and "Put It Down" (featuring Drake), "Right Now" (featuring Pimp C, Tupac Shakur and Trey Songz) and "Just Like That" (featuring Young Jeezy)
Essential Info: There's no need for deliberations — two songs into listening to this LP, it's clear Bun B hasn't let up on this third installment of his Trill series (Trill and II Trill were the first two). Bun delivers articulate and adamant verses with a host of great current MCs as well as some late legends; Pimp C and Tupac make surprising appearances on "Right Now." Bun's album ends with the Drake collaboration "It's Been a Pleasure," on which the Port Arthur Godfather reflects on his life and career.
