Long-time Academy Museum of Motion Pictures executive Amy Homma was promoted to Chief Audience Officer Nov. 28, Director and President of the Academy Museum Jacqueline Stewart announced.
“Amy has proven herself to be a skillful, forward-thinking, and inspiring leader since she began at the museum in 2019, and I look forward to seeing her and her teams thrive in this new capacity,” Stewart said. “As a seasoned programmer, educator, and administrator who brings a deep knowledge of audience engagement and museology, Amy is the ideal person to steer our museum’s next chapter of external relations.”

Grindstone Entertainment Group has acquired the North American distribution rights to action-thriller Mercury Plains, starring Scott Eastwood (Fury, Suicide Squad), with distribution handled by Lionsgate Home Entertainment.
The deal was struck between Carnaby International’s director of international sales, Tania Sarra, and Grindstone’s head of acquisitions, Stan Wertlieb.
London-based Carnaby International, which is handling worldwide sales, will screen extended promo footage from Mercury Plains to buyers in Toronto this week.
Pre-sales interest has been strong, according to Carnaby, and Mercury Plains will have its world industry premiere at the American Film Market (Afm) in November.
Starring Eastwood, Nick Chinlund and Angela Sarafyan, the film centres on a young man who runs away to Mexico where he is recruited by the captain of a parliamentary group of teens who fight drug cartels.

Carnaby has taken world sales rights to action crime-thriller sequel Rise of the Footsoldier Part II, starring Ricci Harnett (28 Days Later), Luke Malby (The Prince and Me) and Steven Berkoff (Red 2).
Signature Entertainment has snapped up UK distribution rights in a deal secured by Carnaby’s joint CEO, Andrew Loveday, together with Signature’s CEO, Marc Goldberg.
Carnaby will have extended promo footage of the title about a man who must fight to regain his place in the criminal underworld in Cannes.
The first Rise of the Footsoldier has sold close to 1 million copies in the UK.

Scott Eastwood, the youngest son of actor/director Clint Eastwood, has joined the cast of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D, Deadline reports. The film will be directed by John Luessenhop (Takers) and is set to take place after Tobe Hooper's original 1974 horror classic. The script was penned by Adam Marcus and Debra Sullivan, and polished by Kirsten Elms and Luessenhop.
Massacre 3D is being produced by Carl Mazzocone and exec produced by Avi Lerner and Mark Burg. The goal is for the film to help launch a new fright franchise featuring the iconic, chainsaw-loving villain Leatherface and his oddball family. Filming begins this week in Shreveport, Louisiana, to meet it's Oct. 5, 2012 scheduled release date.
Eastwood recently completed the Charles Burmeister-directed Epic, the Jack Heller-directed Enter Nowhere and the Lawrence Roeck-directed Carmel. He has also starring roles in films directed by his father, including Invictus, Gran Torino and Flags of Our Fathers.
