After a decade of being known as Carly Corinthos Jacks on General Hospital, the iconic Gh soap character has chosen to adopt her mother’s maiden name as her own surname. Thus, Carly Spencer is carrying on the Spencer last name shared by her mother, Bobbie Spencer, and uncle, Luke Spencer, both legendary characters on the soap.

Chloe Lanier exited “General Hospital” last fall, but she might not be done with the soap just yet, at least not at the Daytime Emmys. She won Best Younger Actress last year for her role as the scheming Nelle Benson, and she’s pre-nominated again for that performance. Will she win again for her conniving ways? “Gh” is the most awarded soap in this category’s history with nine victories, and Lanier would be the third from the show to win back-to-back.
Sarah Brown was the first consecutive winner for “Gh,” prevailing in 1997 and 1998 for playing Carly Benson, who turned out to be Nelle’s adoptive sister. Brown won a third Emmy for Best Supporting Actress in 2000 when she aged out of the younger category (the cutoff is 26), and she left “Gh” shortly thereafter. The role of Carly was then played by Tamara Braun (2001-2005) and Jennifer Bransford (2005). Then Laura Wright...

“General Hospital” star Chloe Lanier just won a Daytime Emmy this past spring for Best Younger Actress, so it came as a surprise when it was announced that she will soon be exiting the show. But how should “Gh” handle her exit as the devious Nelle Benson, who has been wreaking havoc since she joined the cast in 2016? We asked our readers, and they answered, “Lock her up!”
Nelle has committed a variety of crimes during her relatively short time in Port Charles. She drugged Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and convinced him that they had slept together. She also gaslighted Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) to make her believe she was being haunted by her dead son and then lied to police that Carly had assaulted her by pushing her down a flight of stairs when she actually fell accidentally.
She has certainly earned a prison stay, which is why 53% of...
