It's really odd to my why it has taken so long for producers and studios to get behind the old Twilight Zone episodes. With all of these sh-tty remakes hitting theaters, why not take some classic episodes of the Zone and adapt them to a feature film? Common has lined up a double bill. The Chicago rapper has signed on to the Morgan Freeman-Angelina Jolie starrer Wanted for Universal Pictures and is in negotiations to join the cast of the Keanu Reeves-Forest Whitaker drama The Night Watchman for Fox Searchlight.
Wanted centers on a white-collar worker (James McAvoy) who discovers he is the son of the most evil supervillain on Earth. When his father is assassinated, he inherits the dead man's powers and begins life among the other supervillains (Freeman, Jolie and Common) who secretly control the planet.
Common will play the Gunsmith, an assassin with an unparalleled knowledge of firearms who is enlisted to help train and transform McAvoy's character into the world's most feared and powerful hit man.
Timur Bekmambetov is helming from a script by Michael Brandt and Derek Haas.
Marc Platt, Jim Lemley and Jason Netter are producing.

With The Rundown opening in theaters this weekend, The Rock (aka Dwayne Johnson) has already announced his next project, according to Variety . an adaptation of the 80s video game Spy Hunter. The film would again team the wrestling star with Universal, which is eyeing the action pic for a summer 2005 release. The Rock would play an ex-fighter pilot who tangles with various villains with the aid of his "high-tech G-6155 Interceptor car." 2 Fast 2 Furious scribes Michael Brandt and Derek Haas are hard at work on a script; no director is set yet.
