Oscar winner Nicolas Cage is currently all over the news, for getting tangled in the Marvel web as Spider-Man. But that’s not all. Right after media outlets reported Cage’s involvement in the upcoming MGM+ and Prime Video live-action series Noir, the actor’s upcoming psychological thriller The Surfer released its first clip.

Nicolas Cage Confirmed to Reprise Spider-Man Noir Role in Live-Action Series - Main Image
Nicolas Cage will reprise and expand his role as Spider-Man Noir in a new live-action series that will be released on Prime Video and MGM+. This will mark the first live-action adaptation of the character who previously appeared in the two successful “Spider-Verse” animated films.
Nicolas Cage added another superhero role to his credits when he lent his voice to Spider-Man Noir in both 2018’s Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and last year’s Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, which earned an Oscar nomination for Best Animated Feature. In both films, he voiced a version of Peter Parker from Earth-90214 that served as New York’s web-slinging vigilante during the 1930s.

Spider-Man Noir may have spent the past few years off somewhere staring at matches as they burn, but the hilariously melodramatic Spider-Verse character played by Nicolas Cage will officially return in a new show on MGM+ and Amazon's Prime Video, according to Variety. What's wilder: the show will be live action.
The new show will be called "Noir," and this isn't the first time we've heard about it: the show was first announced back in February 2023, but Cage's casting wasn't confirmed at that time. In fact, a month earlier the beloved actor actually told ScreenRant that he wasn't going to be included in "Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse," a decision he seemed bummed about. "You'd have to ask Sony," he told the outlet when asked about the future of his character. "No one's spoken to me about that ... I wish they would. I love Spider-Man Noir, too. I think that's a great character.

Today, at Amazon’s inaugural upfront presentation, MGM+ and Prime Video announced that they have ordered Noir, a live-action series based on the Marvel comic Spider-Man Noir.
Academy Award-winning actor Nicolas Cage is set to star in the series. Emmy Award-winning director Harry Bradbeer is set to direct and executive produce the first two episodes.
Oren Uziel and Steve Lightfoot will serve as co-showrunners and executive producers. Uziel and Lightfoot developed the series with the Academy Award-winning team behind Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse: Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and Amy Pascal, who will also serve as executive producers.
The Spider-Man Noir series will debut domestically on MGM+’s linear channel and then globally on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories. The series tells the story of an aging, down-on-his-luck private investigator (Cage) in 1930s New York who is forced to grapple with his past life as the city’s one and only superhero.

One of the Spider-Man variations that stole scenes in the 2018 animated film from Sony, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, was Spider-Man Noir. The character had the impeccable pipes of Nicolas Cage to bring his character to life and, Deadline now reports that the Marvel comic property has just been given a greenlight by Prime Video and MGM+ for a live-action series, complete with Cage in the role. The series titled Noir has been in development for over a year from Oren Uziel and Steve Lightfoot, who will be serving as co-showrunners and executive producers.
It’s also reported that Harry Bradbeer, the Emmy-winning director of Fleabag and Killing Eve, is set to direct and executive produce the first two episodes. The show was also developed with the Academy Award-winning team who wrote and produced Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse — Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and Amy Pascal, who will all also serve on the series as executive producers.

Nicolas Cage is going back into the Spider-Verse. Amazon, during its first-ever upfront presentation, announced that Cage will star in “Noir,” the live-action series based on the Spider-Man Noir comic series from Marvel.
Way back in early 2023, IndieWire reported that Amazon was in development on a live-action series inspired by the Spider-Man Noir character, who Cage famously portrayed in the animated “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” as a grizzled, tortured, black-and-white noir gumshoe who also happened to be a superhero bitten by a radioactive spider. But no cast had been confirmed for the live-action show, and Amazon surprised advertisers by revealing that Cage would step back into the role, making it the first time he’s done a TV series since he filmed a pilot at the start of his career.

Although Enola Holmes 2’s ending was quite decisive, it has some unresolved mysteries and unanswered questions that set up ample premise for Enola Holmes 3. Given the compelling appeal of the first two films, the prospect of a second sequel for the Harry Bradbeer film series excites movie lovers. The first movie released on Netflix in September 2020 stars Millie Brown as the youngest of the Holmes siblings, alongside Henry Cavill’s Sherlock Holmes, Sam Claflin’s Mycroft Holmes, Helena Bonham Carter’s Eudoria Holmes, and Louis Partridge as Tewkesbury. Upon release, it quickly became one of the most-watched titles on the streaming...

Before donning Superman’s cape once more, Henry Cavill reprised a different, but also well-known role with quite the fandom — Sherlock Holmes.
In Netflix’s “Enola Holmes 2,” Cavill portrays Sherlock, but as seen through the lens of his younger sister Enola (Millie Bobby Brown), who stars in the sequel. Which means that despite that post-credits scene, a Henry Cavill Sherlock movie isn’t likely in the cards.
Director Harry Bradbeer discussed how the post-credits introduction of Watson presents a foil for Sherlock, though Enola foils her brother in her own way as well. While Enola finds love with Lord Tewkesbury (Louis Partridge) after solving her case, the theme of Sherlock’s loneliness remains, and she worries for her brother.

Millie Bobby Brown is hoping that in the future she has an opportunity to play a “real person” and she revealed she would like to portray Britney Spears.
“I think her story resonates with me,” she told Drew Barrymore on her daytime talk show. “Just growing up, watching her videos, watching interviews of her when she was younger — I see the scramble for words and I don’t know her, but when I look up pictures of her I feel like I could tell her story in the right way and hers only.”
As of now, there are no concrete plans for a film about Spears. Brown is currently promoting the sequel to Enola Holmes on Netflix where the Stranger Things star plays Sherlock’s sister.

Plot: Now a detective-for-hire like her infamous brother, Enola Holmes takes on her first official case to find a missing girl, as the sparks of a dangerous conspiracy ignite a mystery that requires the help of friends — and Sherlock himself — to unravel.
Review: When Enola Holmes debuted in 2020, it represented one of the better Netflix feature films. Quality production values, a solid screenplay, and some pretty impressive action sequences made the film more than a teen-centric mystery and more of a worthy showcase for Millie Bobby Brown in a franchise all her own. With the credit sequence all but guaranteeing a sequel, Enola Holmes 2 arrives and exceeds the original film in virtually every way. With a bigger and more intricate plot, bigger stakes, and potential for countless more sequels, Enola Holmes 2 is one of the best Netflix original films and a rip-roaring good time that could have been a big screen hit.

Onscreen, Millie Bobby Brown and Henry Cavill play siblings in Netflix's "Enola Holmes" films, but offscreen the duo have formed a special friendship - one that comes with certain "terms and conditions," according to the "Stranger Things" star. In a recent interview with Deadline, the 18-year-old actor shared how her friendship with Cavill differs from her relationships with her "Stranger Things" costars and revealed the one topic the Sherlock Holmes actor has declared off limits.
"With Henry, it feels like a real adult relationship," Brown explained. "Like a really good friendship, a really healthy one. One that we have terms and conditions."
In contrast, her friendships with "Stranger Things" costars like Noah Schnapp and Charlie Heaton have fewer boundaries due to the cast growing up with one another. "It's different because I grew up with Noah and Charlie. I met them when I was 10. So, for me, it does feel like your schoolmates,...

Every movie genre contains numerous movies whose purpose is nothing more than to entertain viewers with basic ingredients. Whether it's a generic rom-com starring a charming cast or a mission-driven action flick filled with high-adrenaline moments. I will stand my ground and defend that there are no problems with enjoying straightforward stories on an empty weekend afternoon. That said, personal expectations for the investigative murder mystery sequel Enola Holmes 2 were precisely the same as for the original Netflix film from 2020, so I was surprised that the sequel managed to surpass its predecessor in several aspects. ›››

Warning: This piece contains major spoilers for “Enola Holmes 2.” If you have not yet watched, turn back now!
As if the ending of “Enola Holmes 2” isn’t complicated enough, the film’s post-credits scene sets up an entirely new wrinkle to the franchise — albeit an exciting one.
For context, Sherlock battles a sense of loneliness throughout the film, and Enola recognizes this. He even at one point advises her to avoid going down the same path at all costs. After Tewksbury confesses his love for Enola and she reciprocates, this doesn’t look like this will happen for Enola.
“I really love Sherlock’s loneliness, which I think is not just because he’s from a dysfunctional family and he lives alone, but also because mentally he lives in another framework another level from everyone else. He can’t do small talk,” said director Harry Bradbeer in a recent interview with TheWrap.

Tis she! Enola Holmes (Millie Bobby Brown), the whip-smart, socially awkward, fisticuffs-brandishing, disguise-swapping girl detective that Netflix introduced in a charming if overstuffed origin story in 2020. But with all the credit for solving that movie’s mystery going to her more established older brother, Sherlock (Henry Cavill), Enola’s sophomore outing in Enola Holmes 2 serves as something of a second debut: investigating a crime that no one else wants, the disappearance of a factory girl. As she tugs at loose threads, Enola unravels a larger conspiracy involving the upper and lower classes, typhus and the Treasury, and even a familiar nemesis of her brother’s. Despite Sherlock Holmes cautioning her against making the case about herself, it’s Enola’s personal investment—and especially her stumbles along the way—that make this second adventure so compelling.

Starring Millie Bobby Brown in the titular role of Enola, the story follows Sherlock Holmes’ younger sister as she tries to shine outside the shadow of her well sought after detective brother. The original "Enola Holmes," directed by "Fleabag" helmer Harry Bradbeer and based on Nancy Springer's book series "The Enola Holmes Mysteries," burst onto the scene with surprising aplomb. Following Enola Holmes (an excellent Millie Bobbie Brown), the brilliant and rebelliously independent teen sister of Sherlock (Henry Cavill) and Mycroft (Sam Claflin), the first film sees young Enola working to find Holmes matriarch Eudoria (Helena Bonham Carter) and discovering that a bigger mystery is afoot. The freshman mystery adaptation was smartly written and charming with a wonderful performance by star and producer Millie Bobbie Brown. With the groundwork laid for a strong second outing, "Enola Holmes 2" had a number of legs up on its forebear outing alongside relevantly higher stakes.

Like his brother Sherlock, no two versions of Mycroft Holmes are exactly the same, though there are certain qualities that tend to carry over from one iteration to the next. Mycroft is typically as good if not better than his sibling at the art of deduction, but uses his skills very differently. With Robert Downey Jr.'s Sherlock, Stephen Fry's take on Mycroft in Guy Ritchie's "Sherlock Holmes" films is a rather eccentric fellow (the kind who strolls around his home naked on a whim). Mark Gatiss, on the other hand, portrays Mycroft as a cold and detached Cabinet official tasked with keeping his borderline sociopathic brother in line on the series "Sherlock."
Likewise, in "Enola Holmes," Mycroft (Sam Claflin) is as tightly-wounded as his mustache is neatly trimmed. He doesn't care at all for his younger sister Enola's (Millie Bobby Brown) independent attitude and insists she...

Christina Applegate and Linda Cardellini have already been through the ringer in Netflix‘s comedy series Dead to Me, and viewers should expect nothing less from the third and final season.
In a new trailer released Wednesday, Applegate’s Jen wakes up in the hospital after she and Cardellini’s Judy were involved in a hit and run at the end of Season 2.
Almost immediately, they’re both forced to confront the fact that they’re covering up Steve’s (James Marsden) murder as the FBI take over the case from local authorities. As Jen’s son puts it, “Steve Wood is dead, and you look guilty as f—.”
But, if they have to become outlaws, at least they’ll be doing it together.
The final season of Dead to Me promises “shocking twists, unexpected turns, and the kind of laughter you can only share with your best friend,” according to Netflix.

In Enola Holmes 2, a new game is afoot! And this time, it’s ripped straight from the history books. Following the theme of female empowerment from the first film in 2020, director Harry Bradbeer (Fleabag), writer Jack Thorne (His Dark Materials) and actress Millie Bobby Brown (Stranger Things) felt it was important to highlight real stories about female oppression and liberation against the backdrop of the real-life matchgirls’ strike of 1888.
“We developed the script together,” Bradbeer tells Deadline. “We wanted to find a way that brought Enola into contact with a whole new world and range of young women and girls. And when we hit on the historical period, the idea of the matchgirls’ strike seemed to be a perfect way of telling a story about sisterhood and union and having the courage to stand up.”

Millie Bobby Brown’s eccentric fourth wall breaks have become such a distinguishable trademark of Harry Bradbeer’s “Enola Holmes” films that in the sequel, the “Stranger Things” star tried to do it in every scene she could.
“Maybe Harry can agree with me on this but I think in every scene we tried doing, we tried breaking the fourth wall and then he edited the ones that landed the most,” Brown told Variety at the New York premiere of “Enola Holmes 2” on Thursday night at the Paris Theater.
Brown went on to say that she took inspiration from Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s fourth wall-breaking techniques in “Fleabag,” the critically acclaimed Amazon Prime series on which Bradbeer also served as a director.
“It’s just like the most perfect way to break the fourth wall with her wit, her humor, her timing,” Bobby Brown said. “It’s so inspirational to me.

The sequel to "Enola Holmes" comes out on Netflix next week, and it's just as delightful as the first one. "Enola Holmes 2" lets us catch up with the younger sister of the famous detective Sherlock Holmes (Henry Cavill), who is just as brilliant (if not more) than he is. A little older now, Enola ("Stranger Things" actor Millie Bobby Brown who also serves as producer) is opening her own detective agency. Not that anyone is taking her seriously. That is until a young girl comes looking for her missing sister. Enola is on the case again, and the game is afoot.
This time around, though, it's not just a single missing girl. She's connected to something much bigger, and it has roots in the real-life story of Sarah Chapman and the Matchstick Girls Strike of 1888. It was the first major protest by women, for women, as director Harry Bradbeer said in our recent interview.

Of course “Enola Holmes 2” opens with a winking epigraph, imploring its audience to approach the sequel with some necessary perspective: “Some of what follows is true. The important parts at least.” Such is the winsome life of Enola Holmes (Millie Bobby Brown), Sherlock Holmes’ kid sister — at least, according to author Nancy Springer’s series of YA novels — and a seasoned detective in her own right. So much of the pleasure of Enola’s perspective is, just that, her perspective, a mostly fresh (and often feminist) twist on the whodunit subgenre that’s enjoying quite a renaissance in recent years.
The film reunites most of the principal cast and crew of director Harry Bradbeer’s 2020 Netflix feature, “Enola Holmes,” and while that franchise-starter was frisky and fun, its followup rehashes the original’s charms (with wishy-washy results), while expanding elements that required no additional attention.

There were a number of reasons the employees at the Bryant & May match factory wanted to strike in 1888: They were fined for trivial offenses, berated for small errors and paid abysmally for hours of grueling labor. But above all, their owners were killing them. A change in production methods — switching from red phosphorus to white — increased the company’s profit and poisoned the match factory employees. The women and girls developed phosphorus necrosis, a disease that caused engorged abscesses in the mouth and fatal brain damage.

"Enola Holmes 2," based on Nancy Springer's young adult novel series, premieres next week on Netflix, and sees the return of Enola (Millie Bobby Brown), who is a little older now, more mature, and ready to start her own detective agency. Of course, that was no easy task for a woman in the time period when this film takes place. Enola takes on the case of a missing girl who has been working at a matchstick factory, where the conditions are terrible, and she quickly discovers there is a lot more going on than meets the eye.
In fact, the story is based on the Matchgirls' Strike of 1888. The working conditions in the Bryant & May factory were devastatingly bad, with low pay and dangerous conditions leading to illness and death.
Joining her in her quest to solve this mystery are her brother, the famous Sherlock Holmes (Henry Cavill); her mother,...

Like a department store that pulls out its winter holiday items weeks before All Hallows' Eve, Netflix isn't going to let a little thing like the calendar stop it from bombarding its subscribers with Christmas movies in November. That's not to say the streamer's exclusive yuletide rom-coms are all bad — quite the opposite, in fact (consider this your friendly reminder to finally watch "Single All the Way" this year).
Fortunately, if films like "Falling for Christmas" (aka the long-awaited Lindsay Lohan Netflix Christmas movie) aren't your bag, there are plenty of other options on the service to choose from that month. Perhaps you'd be more inclined to watch "Slumberland," Francis Lawrence's fantasy film adaptation of Winsor McCay's classic "Little Nemo in Slumberland" comic strips starring Jason Momoa as a shaggy-furred half-man, half-animal with mountain goat horns and an impeccably flamboyant fashion sense? You could also go for the...

Detective Enola Holmes is on the case again! Netflix has just released the full trailer for "Enola Holmes 2," the follow-up to 2020's "Enola Holmes." Millie Bobby Brown stars as the younger sister of legendary detective Sherlock Holmes (Henry Cavill) who has been raised by her mother Eudoria (Helena Bonham Carter) to be something more than the typical young woman of the time in London. When her mother disappeared in the first film and left her clues, Enola set out to find her, despite her gender, age, and the men around her working against her.
The original film -- based on Nancy Springer's "Enola Holmes Mysteries" book series -- was originally set to be released in theaters, but the pandemic changed all that. Millie Bobby Brown’s Enola Holmes is back on the case in the official trailer for ‘Enola Holmes 2’, which will arrive on Netflix on November 4, reports ‘Variety’. An extension of the iconic Sherlock Holmes character created by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, the franchise, ‘Variety’ adds, stars Brown as the youngest sibling of the Holmes family, who must come into her own as a capable detective, while facing down her brother Sherlock (Henry Cavill).
The sequel and its predecessor are based on ‘The Enola Holmes Mysteries’, the young adult fiction book series created by Nancy Springer.
The first film chronicled Enola’s search for her mother Eudoria Holmes, played by Helena Bonham Carter, which offered many twists and turns for the young sleuth to navigate. Netflix describes the mystery of the sequel as one of “historic proportions”, needing “two Holmes to handle”, indicating a larger role for Cavill’s Sherlock.

Last month, Netflix announced that the sequel to 2020’s Enola Holmes, the aptly titled Enola Holmes 2, would come to the streaming service in November. Now, we have the first trailer for the adventure courtesy of this weekend’s Tudum event.
In the trailer for Enola Holmes 2, we see Enola being chased by two officers, halting only to break the fourth wall and say to the viewer, “Perhaps I should explain.” Unassigned to any case, Enola seems envious that her older brother Sherlock (Henry Cavill) is on a particularly frustrating one. Enter a young girl, who enlists Enola to help find her missing sister. This will give her the chance to live up to the Holmes family name–and take her “from London’s sinister factories and colorful music halls to the highest echelons of society and 221B Baker Street itself.” She’ll also get to team with her bro,...

The game is afoot ... again! Millie Bobby Brown's Enola Holmes made her highly entertaining screen debut back in 2020, with Henry Cavill co-starring as her brother (some wavy-haired chap by the name of Sherlock). Now, the sleuthing siblings are reuniting for "Enola Holmes 2," a sequel that sees them working together to solve their most taxing case yet.
Drawing once more from Nancy Springer's "Enola Homes Mysteries" book series, "Enola Holmes 2" finds Enola a little older and more worldly, but just as intrepid as ever. Having only just opened her own agency, our hero is quick to realize business for female detectives is, well, about as poor as you might expect it to be in ye olde London at the turn of the 20th century. But never fear! When a "penniless matchstick girl" hires Enola to locate her missing sister, it's off to the races for her and,...

Millie Bobby Brown is on the run and going under cover in the heart-pounding new trailer for “Enola Holmes 2,” which dropped Saturday morning as part of Netflix’s Tudum global fan event.
Brown returns alongside Henry Cavill and Helena Bonham Carter for the film, where a major case will take more than one Holmes sibling to solve.
“My name is Enola Holmes,” she says in the new trailer, which you can watch above. “I started a detective agency.”
These words lead to a montage in which several potential clients question Enola’s qualifications: her age, her gender, and if her brother — Sherlock Holmes (Cavill) — will be helping out.

Netflix has debuted a series of first-look images for the upcoming sequel for ‘Enola Holmes’ which sees the return of Millie Bobby Brown as Enola and Henry Cavill as her brother Sherlock Holmes.
Fresh off the triumph of solving her first case, Enola Holmes (Millie Bobby Brown) follows in the footsteps of her famous brother, Sherlock (Henry Cavill), and opens her own agency — only to find that life as a female detective-for-hire isn’t as easy as it seems. Among the rare good things to come out of 2020 was "Enola Holmes," a film that manages to blend the millennial energy of "Dickinson" with the introspective, fourth wall-breaking of "Fleabag". The high-spirited mystery-adventure tells the story of tenacious sleuth Enola Holmes, a character who was created by author Nancy Springer and is technically Sherlock Holmes' sister in the official Arthur Conan Doyle canon now. Yay for the public domain!
Leading the way as Enola in the film version is "Stranger Things" veteran Millie Bobby Brown, with Henry Cavill co-starring as an atypically polite and empathetic Sherlock — a matter that, oddly enough, was once at the heart of a since-resolved lawsuit filed by the Doyle estate. Both will return in the upcoming sequel,...
