- The actor Gustav Botz began his career at the theater in Kaiserslautern where he got his first engagement in 1884. It soon followed engagements in other cities like Dresden, Koblenz, Basel and from 1909 Berlin.
- In Berlin he entered the film business in 1914 and his first movie was "Das Kriegslied der Rheinarmee" (1914).
- His last cinematical works came at the beginning of the 20s into being. To these productions belong "Nosferatu" (1922) von Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau", Dr. Mabuse, der Spieler" (1922), "Lola Montez, die Tänzerin des Königs" (1922) and "Mein Leopold" (1924).
- He was forced to retire from the acting because of a disease of his eyes. He got nearly blind when he died several years later.
