David Bohrman, the veteran news producer and executive who worked for ABC News, CBS News, NBC News, Current TV, and most notably CNN, has died. He was 69.
Bohrman died Sunday after complications with hip surgery, his family told CNN.
Famed as a news innovator, Bohrman created dozens of programs over a career that spanned six decades and was widely credited with introducing cutting-edge technology into news broadcasts including interactive video walls, 3D holograms and real-time visualizations. Among the many news programs he created for CNN included State of the Union, Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer, MoneyLine News Hour with Lou Dobbs and NewsNight with Aaron Brown.

David Bohrman, a longtime producer and news executive who was responsible for innovations in live and special events and breaking news, died on Sunday. He was CNN.
“He was the creator of more news programming than almost any other producer working in television news today,” CNN’s leadership team wrote in a memo to employees on Sunday evening.
“Wherever he went, David was an innovator using the latest technology to enhance storytelling,” they wrote. “He was a mentor to many.”
No cause of death was given.
During his years at CNN, Bohrman embraced new approaches to live events coverage, including the Magic Wall, while he was the driving force behind shows like The Situation Room and State of the Union. As senior vice president and Washington bureau chief at CNN, he also launched NewsNight with Aaron Brown and The Moneyline NewsHour. He also produced more than a dozen presidential debates for the network.
