- Was a the bass player of the 1960s rock band Vanilla Fudge, they recorded 5 albums.
- Taught at the Musicians Institute in Hollywood starting in 1981.
- Starting in 1975 he teamed with such acts as Grateful Dead guitarist Bob Weir, the UK group Boxer, and with guitarist Rick Derringer.
- Retired from touring in 2008.
- Was playing with Jeff Beck after the Jeff Beck Group disbanded. They decided to form a super-group with Carmine Appice that was called Beck, Bogert & Appice.
