Lady Lucan — whose aristocrat husband vanished after he attacked her and killed their nanny 40 years ago — died of natural causes in her upscale London home on Wednesday, Sept. 27, at the age of 80, according to the New York Times.
The estranged couple made international headlines in 1974 after their nanny, Sandra Rivett, 29, was found bludgeoned to death in their five-story townhouse. Lady Lucan, whose real name is Veronica Bingham, claimed that her husband, John Bingham — the 7th Earl of Lucan — killed Rivett in their dimly lit basement in a case of mistaken identity. Lord Lucan, she claimed, had meant to kill her.

New York based filmmaker Ira Sachs is giving his fans The Silent Treatment. No the filmmaker isn’t pulling a Malick-like disappearing act, but instead, it appears he’ll begin setting up shop for his seventh feature film. After back to back critically acclaimed films in Keep the Lights On and Love is Strange, Sachs dropped the news that financing is in place and production will begin in June. Look for the trades to provide us with casting snip-its over the next couple of months.
Gist: This will be set in New York. It’ll likely be a drama.
Worth Noting: 2007′s Married Life was based on John Bingham’s novel Five Roundabouts to Heaven.
Do We Care?: We’ve been fans of his work dating back to The Delta and Forty Shades of Blue, and we found plenty to like in the shifting dynamics of a quartet in Married Life,...

- #69. Married Life Director: Ira SachsWriters: Oren Moverman (I'm Not There) and Sachs Producers: Steve Golin (Babel), Jawal Nga (Forty Shades of Blue), Sidney Kimmel (Lars and the Real Girl) and Sachs Distributor: Sony Pictures Classics The Gist: Based on British pulp mystery John Bingham novel "Five Roundabouts to Heaven," this is set in San Francisco in 1949. It's the story of a middle-aged man who is married, and who falls in love with another woman, but he's such a gentle figure, so he decides that to divorce his wife would humiliate her too much, so it's better to kill her. Fact: Sachs is the filmmaker behind the Sundance film festival Grand Jury Prize-winning Forty Shades of Blue. See It: Quartet of actors are absolutely great: makes for adult fair for those who like the witty and sultriness-like mysteries and humor a la Hitchcock. Release Date/Status?: March 7th release.

- They pretty much have what looks to be a great year end lineup intact for the 07' calender and now Sony Pictures Classics have in my opinion strengthened their 08' line-up with a film (that I recently caught at the Toronto Film Festival) that should be popular fair among those looking for some adult tit for tat. Look for Ira Sachs' Married Life to make a splash somewhere in 08', but moviegoers can get one more view via the upcoming New York Film Festival. The film offers solid perfs, and draws comparisons to what Hitchcock gave us: humor tied in with plot to commit a little murder. Sachs is of course the director behind the Sundance hit Forty Shades of Blue and this project formerly titled "Marriage" is and based on British pulp mystery John Bingham novel "Five Roundabouts to Heaven".Set in San Francisco in 1949.
