The NCIS show that was never made to air on CBS has just been renewed for the network.
When NCIS: Sydney was first announced, we weren’t even sure it would be shown in the US. We figured the Australian series would land on Paramount+ at best.
Here we are less than a year later, and we’ve got another NCIS that’s going to remain on the linear network.
CBS announces the renewal of last fall’s #1 new series, NCIS: Sydney, on the CBS Television Network for the 2024-2025 season. The pickup corresponds with the cross-continent season two order today by Paramount+ Australia.
The first international expansion of the globally popular NCIS franchise launched successfully across multiple territories and Paramount Global platforms, debuting on Paramount+ Australia on Nov. 10, 2023, and on CBS in the U.S. and on Global in Canada on Nov. 14, 2023.
The series premiere reached over 10.2 million viewers on linear in the U.

When “Mr Inbetween” premiered a year ago this September, it was enveloped by the rather large shadow of another half-hour hitman series, “Barry.” Bill Hader’s first season had wrapped months prior to Scott Ryan’s FX debut, but it was in the middle of what proved to be a very successful Emmys run and comparisons between the two dark comedies were unavoidable. They still are, as “Barry” continues to dominate cultural conversation (on its way to another likely score at the Emmys) and “Mr Inbetween” hopes to find its own space within the ever-growing TV sphere.
To be clear, it deserves one. The sharply written and well-performed Australian series isn’t in “Barry’s” upper-echelon of comedy, but it’s smart, wickedly funny, and, in Season 2, purposeful. And much of its new direction can be found in the clear differences between this bald, mustachioed hitman (played by Ryan) and his tall,...

The gambit of launching Tony Mahony and Angus Sampson.s dark comedy The Mule simultaneously on digital platforms in Australia, New Zealand, the Us and Canada last Friday, bypassing cinemas, seems to be paying off.
Initial reports from iTunes and distributor eOne are very encouraging, according to Sampson, who served as one of the producers.
Consumers can buy the title on digital platforms for $24.99 and it will be available to rent online and on DVD and Blu-ray on December 3.
The caper starring Sampson as a naive guy who is caught with lethal narcotics hidden in his stomach and tries to withhold the evidence, literally, ranks as the most popular indie title on iTunes in Australia and in the Us.
.In Australia iTunes says the film is doing three times better than its estimates, .Sampson tells If. .EOne just told me the pre-orders for physical sales are five times better than they would have done normally.
