As the upcoming Ryan Gosling–Emily Blunt crowd-pleaser “The Fall Guy” shows, doing stuntwork in Hollywood can be risky business. That is why you are supposed to leave it to the professionals.
But Chris Pratt decided to get in the mix a little bit during the production of his next film, “Mercy,” and the result didn’t go so well.
As he shared on Instagram, the “Jurassic World” and “Guardians of the Galaxy” actor, after saluting his stunt team, admitted he “sometimes tr[ies] to get in there and do some of my own stuff. Today, daddy caught a metal post to the ankle. Should be interesting moving forward.” He included the “thinky guy” emoji and two photos—one of a bandaged foot, the other looking a bit scratched and puffy. It’s unclear to what degree this injury will delay shooting.

Chris Pratt is off to a rough start on his latest film.
“Mercy filming day 4,” he wrote on Ig Thursday next to a photo of his elevated ankle wrapped in an ice pack. “I have such a great stunt team! And I sometimes try to get in there and do some of my own stuff. Today, daddy caught a metal post to the ankle. Should be interesting moving forward.”
In a second photo, the ice pack is off to reveal a badly swollen and bruised ankle.
Over the last couple of days, Pratt has been snapped filming Mercy around Los Angeles doing his own stunts including him, dressed as an LAPD cop, chasing a guy in Malibu, with both of them ending up in the ocean.

Starring Chris Pratt and Rebecca Ferguson, sci-fi thriller Mercy is taking shape, with Kali Reis and Rafi Gavron among the actors joining its cast.
For the past few months, Wanted director Timur Bekmambetov has quietly assembled what could end up being one of the starriest sci-fi films of 2025. In January, Amazon MGM bought up the global theatrical rights for Mercy – which is unsurprising, given the package: it has Chris Pratt and Rebecca Ferguson attached as its stars, and Hollywood veteran Charles Roven as its producer.
In the weeks since, more and more names have been added, including Annabelle Wallis (who starred in the gleefully twisted Malignant) and Kali Reis, who made a strong impression in the hit series True Detective: Night County. Most recently, Deadline reports that four more actors have been added to the roster: Rafi Garon (A Star Is Born), Chris Sullivan (This Is Us), Kenneth Choi (9-...

Loosely based on the comic series by Mark Millar and J. G. Jones, Timur Bekmambetov’s Wanted was a stylized action movie starring James McAvoy, Angelina Jolie, and Morgan Freeman. The film was a critical and commercial success upon its release in 2008, grossing over $342 million worldwide, so it came as no surprise when the studio got the ball rolling on Wanted 2; But here we are, sixteen years later, and there’s no sequel in sight.
Michael Brandt, one of the co-writers of the original movie, told MovieWeb that while a script for Wanted 2 exists, he fears that the momentum to get it made has been lost.
“We had an idea for a sequel. We pitched it, wrote it. And it seems like there was some real interest in the studio to make it,” Brandt said. “And then Timur, who directed the first one, absolutely was interested as well.

Hot off the heels of ‘Dune: Part Two’ success, Ferguson is set to team up with Chris Pratt in a new thriller titled ‘Mercy.’ This Amazon MGM Studios production promises to be a gripping sci-fi tale set in a future where crime rates have skyrocketed.
In ‘Mercy,’ Pratt plays a detective caught up in a whirlwind of accusations over a violent crime. The challenge? He must clear his name. The storyline teases a suspense-filled journey, something we’re all looking forward to. Directed by Timur Bekmambetov, known for the 2016 remake of ‘Ben-Hur,’ and penned by Marco van Belle, the project has a mixed team behind it (‘Ben-Hur’ was pretty bad). Still, with Charles Roven, a name recently nominated for an Oscar for ‘Oppenheimer,’ leading the production, expectations are high.

The Star Wars franchise is coming to shoot a film entirely in California for the first time with The Mandalorian & Grogu movie, and the Golden State is paying out its weight in tax incentive gold to have the bounty hunter saga made within state lines.
To be specific, that is a total tonnage of $21,755,000 in conditional tax credits for the Jon Favreaudirected film. With a new Fantastic Four, Gladiator 2 and a new season of The Last of Us on his dance card, it is unclear right now if SAG Award winner Pedro Pascal will be resuming his role of Din Djarin and teaming back up with the charming Baby Yoda for the Mandalorian movie.
What is known is that $21,755,000 in tax credits is one of the biggest allocations in the California Film Commission run program’s history.

“The Creator didn’t do so well,” director Gareth Edwards concedes, but adds that the “studio is proud of the film”, meaning he gets to make another.
The Creator was one of our absolute favourite genre films of 2023. Made on a comparatively lean budget of $80m, it was a sci-fi action film with terrific production design, sparky performances, and some ambitious ideas on its mind.
Unfortunately, Gareth Edwards’ film didn’t perform spectacularly at the box office – it took in about $104m worldwide – though there’s every chance it’ll be more widely discovered now that it’s out on disc and streaming services.
In an interview with French magazine Technikart – which also did a fascinating piece about the doomed Jake Gyllenhaal survival drama, Suddenly – Edwards was quite candid about The Creator’s financial performance. But with that admission came some happier news: its studio, Arnon Milchan’s Regency Enterprises,...

Deadline reports that Chris Pratt is set to star in Mercy, a sci-fi movie package acquired by Amazon MGM Studios which will be directed by Timur Bekmambetov.
Pratt has worked with Amazon on several projects, including The Tomorrow War and The Terminal List, but Mercy will actually serve as a reunion between himself and Bekmambetov. You may have forgotten, as I did, that Pratt made an appearance in Wanted all the way back in 2008 where he found himself getting smashed in the face with a keyboard wielded by James McAvoy.

Angelina Jolie added the action thriller Wanted to her long list of action films. A potential sequel was soon planned for the movie after its success, but Jolie might have played a part in its cancellation.

Wanted was a 2008 adaptation of the graphic novel of the same name starring X-Men alum James McAvoy. In it, Jolie played a member of a team of assassins called The Fraternity.
Jolie’s character ends up not living through the movie. But in the initial script, she wasn’t supposed to die at all. Jolie felt killing off her assassin was the right thing to do given what was revealed about her organization, so she had the script rewritten.
“In the original, she doesn’t kill herself,” Jolie once told MTV News.

The excruciatingly familiar application of screenlife in Eva Strelnikova's "Stay Online" summons organic devastation as a livestream-esque replication of wartime atrocities. The first Ukrainian feature film shot since the beginning of Russia's ongoing invasion is an unmissable international thriller. At times, a moving protest against ruling tyrants. At others, a plea for mainstream news cycles not to forget Ukraine in favor of "catchier" headlines. Strelnikova and co-writer Anton Skrypets deliver an emotional haymaker demonizing the senseless bloodshed in their home country that forces you to reckon with Ukraine's ruthless reality wherever you are, shattering the protection we feel from our cozy domestic bubbles.

A storybook Los Angeles house once owned by Walt Disney is available for rent for $40,000 per month. The quaint four-bedroom home in the Los Feliz neighborhood looks like something out of one of Disney’s fairytale animated movies, complete with a turret, cozy fireplace, leaded glass windows, and a romantic curved staircase with a wrought iron railing.

Disney built the house in 1932. He lived there with his wife, Lillian, and two daughters, Sharon and Diane until 1950, when the family moved to a home in the Holmby Hills neighborhood. One of the property’s many unique features is a cottage-style “Snow White” playhouse in the backyard that was a Christmas gift to Disney’s daughters in 1937. He had his studio’s staff come in and construct the miniature house overnight to surprise the girls.

The story of Walt Disney’s successful career in Los Angeles began in the Los Feliz area of the city, with his first studio nestled on a side street.
Now, you can rent the four-bedroom home that Disney built for his family in the area after a few years of animation success. The Robb Report indicates the home is available for rent at $40,000 per month.
The animator built the home in 1932, enlisting architect Frank Crowhurst. Film director Timur Bekmambetov bought it in 2011 for $3.7 million, sight unseen. And now, it’s up for rent.
“This property was chosen by Walt Disney as the place to raise his family, and also coincided with a transition of Disney Studios from fledgling enterprise toward entertainment giant,” listing agent Chase Campen of Compass said in a statement to the Robb Report.

For the longest time, animation has been hindered by a misguided notion that animated movies are meant for kids. Sure, there have always been popular outliers like the infamous Fritz the Cat and 1981’s Heavy Metal, but it was only recently that animation began to be legitimized by the industry at large (even if that’s mostly due to a handful of auteurs like Guillermo del Toro publicly defending animation as a medium instead of a genre).
Unfortunately, this means that plenty of edgier animated projects ended up slipping through the cracks over the years, with general audiences usually favoring family-oriented entertainment over experimental stories dealing with more mature themes. One such project is Shane Acker’s underrated 2009 thriller 9, a post-apocalyptic adventure that deserved more attention and pushed its PG-13 rating to the absolute limit.

Following in the wake of Searching and Missing, the next “Screenlife” thriller on the way is titled Resurrected, and it comes courtesy of Searching producer Timur Bekmambetov.
Deadline reports today that XYZ Films has acquired North American rights to Resurrected, which is being billed as a sci-fi thriller. Dave Davis (The Vigil) stars in the film.
“Plans for the film’s release have not yet been disclosed,” Deadline notes.
“Resurrected is set in a near future where the Catholic Church has found the secret to resurrection. They only grant a second life, however, to sinless believers under 65. Stanley, whose son was the first to be resurrected, finds the awful conspiracy behind the secret to eternal life, and now the Church will stop at nothing to prevent him from exposing the truth.”
Egor Baranov (Netflix’s S’parta) directed the pic, which was co-produced with France’s Logical Pictures (The Deep House), in association with Pulsar Content.
