When you think about "The Haunted Mansion" a few images jump immediately to mind. The hitchhiking ghosts, the iconic wallpaper, the creepy exterior, Madame Leota's floating head, and, of course, the spooky figure in a cloak and tophat known only as The Hatbox Ghost.
What you might not be aware of, especially if you're a relatively new fan of the attraction, is that The Hatbox Ghost was something of legend for decades, a piece of Disney Park iconography that was whispered about, but rarely seen.
The rumors surrounding this imposing figure grew and grew since the 1969 opening of "The Haunted Mansion," to the point where it's hard to distinguish between fact and fiction. Some people claim he was present on the ride when it opened (there's some potential home video evidence to support this), some say he was pulled before the official opening. Whatever the truth is, it's unquestionable that...

AnimationFix: Your regular round-up of the latest animation news, from HitFix reporter Emily Rome Kristen Bell is opening the door into musical animation again. The Frozen star will produce and perform original songs for new preschool toon Do, Re & Mi along with Jackie Tohn, a finalist in American Idol’s sixth season. One of the projects I’ve been most excited about from Jon Favreau is his Magic Kingdom movie. It’s been about six years since the project was announced, and in that time Favreau has made Cowboys & Aliens, Chef, and The Jungle Book. Magic Kingdom isn’t completely dead, but it’s not really in active development either. This is something Favreau hopes will change with the help of The Jungle Book.
Magic Kingdom is set in the Disneyland theme park and would feature the characters and attractions at the park coming to life and interacting with each other. When previously talking about the film and his inspiration behind it, Favreau said:
“Between the theme parks and the movies, the Disney iconography was probably the first set of archetypes that I was exposed to. Walt was able to expose me as a child to the full array of emotions, including fear and sorrow.

Words like “legend” and “icon” get tossed around a lot in Hollywood, but the people who built the Walt Disney company, creating timeless films and beloved theme park attractions, earned those titles long ago. The studio holds its own “Legends” ceremony every year, but so does a group of dedicated enthusiasts known as the Disneyana Fan Club, and last weekend they honored three worthy recipients at their annual convention in Anaheim, California: Howard Green, Bruce Reitherman, and Tony Baxter. If their names aren’t of the household variety, the work they’ve done certainly is. I must disclose that Howard and Tony are good friends of mine, so I won’t pretend to be objective in writing...
