NBC is sticking with Found and The Irrational.
The network has renewed both first-year dramas — one of just a handful of original scripted series to air on a broadcast network this fall — for second seasons. Both shows were developed off-cycle at NBC and thus had a full complement of episodes in the can before strikes by writers and actors led to dozens of productions shutting down in the summer and early fall.
The two series have also performed solidly for NBC: The Irrational, starring Jesse L. Martin, is averaging 6.34 million viewers per episode after seven days of linear viewing, while the Shanola Hampton-led Found clocks in at 5.18 million viewers (not including streaming for either show). They are also the top two broadcast series of the season so far among Black viewers, with Found ranking first.

NBC is making some early renewals.
The network has renewed both of its first-year drama series, Found and The Irrational for second seasons.
The fact that both shows had episodes filmed prior to the start of the broadcast season was a boon for NBC, allowing it to air new scripted series as many of its rivals pivoted to reality series and licensed programming as a result of the dual strikes.
The Irrational has aired seven episodes of its first season and has four more to go starting on Monday January 29 at 10pm. It is currently back in production on those episodes.
Found has currently aired nine episodes with two more to air before the end of the year. It will return on January 9 for its final two episodes of the season and has already finished production on those.

NBC continues to plow ahead with pilot orders.
The network has picked up two projects – Dean Georgaris’ agent drama The Blank Slate and The Irrational, Arika Mittman’s adaptation of book Predictably Irrational, to pilot.
The orders mean that NBC has now ordered six drama pilots for the 2022/23 season following the likes of the Quantum Leap reboot, missing persons drama Found from Nkechi Okoro Carroll, ranch drama Unbroken from Shaun Cassidy and a remake of Dutch drama series A’dam & Eva from Mike Daniels.
Written by The Brave creator Georgaris, Blank Slate is a high-concept procedural about a government agent who may not be what he seems.
Special Agent Alexander McCoy is a legend in law enforcement, the agent we all hope is out there, the agent we’d all like to be. The only issue is … he doesn’t actually exist. He’s a ghost, a phantom. So what...

Chicago – “The Mentalist” is the only significant new hit for the 2008-2009 season and the number one rule in TV is that if something works once, try and replicate it. Viewers can expect to see dozens of clones of the Simon Baker series in the next few years. It is into this atmosphere that Fox hopes their newest crime series, “Lie To Me,” can find a loyal audience.
Network TV ratings may be sliding across the board, but there is one genre that seems more resilient to the erosion than others - the crime drama. From network staples like “CSI” to cable shows like “The Closer,” every network head is looking for the next procedural with a twist, the show that they can keep on the air for years, preferably with a revolving door cast and very little effort on their part.

Fox has picked up the Tim Roth-starring drama pilot "Lie to Me" to series.
The network has handed out a 13-episode order to the Imagine TV/20th TV crime procedural for a midseason launch.
Inspired by real-life behavioral scientist Paul Ekman, "Lie to Me" centers on deception expert Cal Lightman (Roth), who runs a private agency contracted by the FBI, local police, law firms, corporations and private citizens when they hit roadblocks in their searches for the truth.
Kelli Williams co-stars as Lightman's professional partner, with Brendan Hines and Monica Raymund rounding out the cast.
"Lie," whose lead is reminiscent of Hugh Laurie's Dr. House, has been touted as a potential "House"-size hit for Fox. It ranked as one of 20th TV's best-testing pilots ever.

Fans of Journeyman might have done much to save the short-lived show, but like other one-season wonders, the show remains six feet under. The creator of the show, Kevin Falls, has expressed his sincere gratitude and appreciation for all the support the fans have given him and the rest of production. Now, Falls is ready to move on and take on another FOX project, this time with a lighter and more comedic tone. FOX has recently given a green light for Falls to recreate the Argentinean telenovela Lalola.
The new FOX series is tentatively titled Eva Adams, and will be an hour-long show focusing on a womanizer who suddenly turns into a woman and thus learns how to deal with the same kind of treatment that he used to give back in the days when he was still a man. The story will be set in the world of sports and fashion.

ABC is gathering some high-profile Evidence for next season. The network is close to picking up a procedural crime drama from The Rule of Four co-writer Dustin Thomason and writer-producer Sam Baum to be produced by John Wells Prods. and Warner Bros. Television. Tentatively titled The Evidence, the project is expected to take a different approach to the procedural crime drama genre. Unlike most shows, which piece a case together by uncovering clue after clue, Evidence will start with presenting all the evidence and then trying to deconstruct the crime.

On the heels of the blockbuster success of Smallville, the WB Network is looking for its next young action hero franchise with a new take on the long-running spy drama MacGyver. The network has given a production order to a drama pilot from Paramount Network Television, tentatively titled Young MacGyver, which MacGyver producers Henry Winkler, Stephen Downing and John Rich are set to executive produce. Young MacGyver centers on the adventures of MacGyver's nephew, who is brought into the fold of Phoenix Foundation, a "think tank" dedicated to righting wrongs and defeating bad guys throughout the world. Sam Baum is writing the script and will serve as a supervising producer on the pilot. Casting is under way for the show's lead. Paramount's MacGyver, which ran on ABC from 1985-92, starred Richard Dean Anderson as MacGyver, a special agent who defeats bad guys using ingenuity, scientific knowledge and such ordinary items as paper clips and candy bars rather than force.
