- Desmond Barrit was born on October 19, 1944 in Morriston, Swansea, Wales, UK. He is an actor, known for Northanger Abbey (2007), A Christmas Carol (1999) and A Midsummer Night's Dream (1996).
- A member of the Royal Shakespeare Company, he also loves playing pantomime dames, and has done so on numerous occasions.
- He was awarded the Laurence Olivier Theatre Award in 1992 (1991 season) for Best Comedy performance in Comedy of Errors.
- He was nominated for a 2002 Laurence Olivier Theatre Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role of 2001 for his performance in Henry IV Parts 1 and II performed at the Barbican Theatre in London.
