A Boeing whistleblower died on Tuesday morning in Wichita, Kansas. Joshua Dean, a former quality auditor at Spirit AeroSystems, a Boeing supplier, died after a two-week hospitalization due to a battle with a sudden and severe infection.
Dean’s family shared that he had been in good health and was known for his healthy lifestyle before he succumbed to the sudden infection.
Dean had come forward in early 2023 and made serious allegations against Spirit AeroSystems that the leadership had ignored crucial manufacturing defects on the Boeing 737 Max model. His act resulted in his termination from his job at Spirit in April 2023.
Dean’s demise marks the second death of a Boeing whistleblower in recent months; in March, John Barnett died in an apparent suicide amid his deposition against Boeing.

When Jeffrey Walker was offered the chance to direct his first feature, Ali.s Wedding, he hesitated initially, feeling intimidated by the milieu of a Muslim immigrant who is torn between his upbringing and the Australian way of life. But as he got deeper into the screenplay by Osamah Sami and his frequent collaborator Andrew Knight, he saw a universal theme in the romantic comedy based on Sami.s experiences. .I got a real feel for the characters and their journey,. says Walker, who started shooting in Melbourne today with a cast of familiar and new faces. Sami plays Ali, the affable son of a Muslim cleric (Don Hany) who had migrated to Australia from Iraq. In an attempt to live up to the expectations of his community and his father, Ali tells a series of well-intentioned lies, which result in him pretending to be a medical student based on forged exam marks.

The fifth edition of Producers Lab Toronto is set to launch during the Toronto International Film Festival® from September 3 to 6, 2014. Ten producers each from Europe and Canada and four participants coming from Australia and New Zealand will meet at Tiff to exchange ideas and information on funding and co-production on both sides of the Atlantic and Down Under. Each year, this successful networking platform facilitates the development of several trans-Atlantic co-productions. Sixty-six of the 96 previous participants are working on 82 projects at different stages of production, with some of the films having since been completed.

James Cameron has confirmed he will shoot the three Avatar sequels in New Zealand, taking advantage of increased rebates from the Kiwi government.
The government said the combined production spend, including most of the live action shooting and visual effects, would be at least $NZ500 million.
The trilogy will qualify for a rebate of 25% assuming it complies with the guidelines set out in an MoU with Cameron and Jon Landau.s Lightstorm Entertainment and Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation.
