Q: I'm curious about Project Runway's Christopher Straub. The ring he wears suggests he has a husband / partner / significant other. What details might you know on this? Every time Heidi had him in tears, I found myself strongly torn between wanting to give him a hug and going all Cher on him. – LgH, Houston, TX, Usw, Earth

10 November 2009 5:48 AM, PST | TVfanatic | See recent TVfanatic news »

The series have many months to find her, but True Blood is casting for Bill Compton's first wife.

The HBO hit has sent out the following casting notice, as it seeks an actress to play the character of Caroline Compton. She's in her 20s and described as:

Seen in 1866, a lovely, very strong, brave, well-bred and well-spoken Southern woman, Caroline pulls a shotgun on the intruder into her house - clearly prepared to use it - till she realizes it's her husband Bill, whom she was sure had died in the War.

Show creator Alan Ball hasn't been shy discussing other season three True Blood spoilers.

The drama doesn't premiere until the summer of 2010, but it's never too early to get psyched for one of the most exhilarating shows in TV history. »

'True Blood' Casting Bill's First Wife

9 November 2009 11:05 PM, PST | Aceshowbiz | See recent Aceshowbiz news »

A vintage-looking woman is sought to fill in the role of Bill Compton's first wife on "True Blood". The HBO show will bring back the image of Bill's family before he was sent to the Civil War and turned as a vampire on his way back home by a vampire woman he was getting food from.

In the casting news for Caroline Compton, it is specified that the character lives in 1866 as a "lovely, very strong, brave, well-bred and well-spoken Southern woman". Said to be a "great scene", the role involves Caroline pulling a shotgun on the intruder into her house, clearly prepared to use it, till she realizes it's her husband Bill, whom she was sure had died in the War.

One particular requirement for the actress auditioning for Caroline is to have a resemblance to the woman in the attached photo. It means, Caroline should be brunette, pale and rather slim. »

5 November 2009 5:07 AM, PST | TVfanatic | See recent TVfanatic news »

With many months to go until the third season of True Blood debuts on HBO, numerous spoilers are already circulating around the Internet.

For how long will Bill remain kidnapped? What's the deal with Sam's family? What other creatures can fans expect to meet?

Show writers Raelle Tucker and Alexander Woo sat down with Sci-Fi Wire this week and answered a few pressing questions. Let's take a look at how they've teased upcoming storylines...

The return of Bill: Expect the kidnapping arc to run for approximately the first six episode of season three. We'll see scenes of Bill with his captors during this time.

What's the deal with meeting Sam's family? Says Tucker: "They aren't the brightest people, maybe. At least they appear that way. They're fairly dysfunctional, but like anybody else, they have their good things about them and not-so-good things. They're still getting to know each other. Sam's still getting to know them, »

Kristin Bauer could play the next lesbian vampire on "True Blood"

3 November 2009 7:00 AM, PST | AfterEllen.com | See recent AfterEllen.com news »

Last week, True Blood creator Alan Ball talked with The Advocate about future gay characters on the hit HBO series. The show has already featured a handful of queer characters, including Vampire Queen Sophie-Ann (Evan Rachel Wood, her lover Hadley (Lindsey Haun), the fabulous fry cook/drug dealer Lafayette and season 1's Eddie.

Ball said:

We'll be meeting the vampire king of Mississippi and his long, long-term companion — and by long-term I mean really long-term — Talbot. I think Lafayette may meet a love interest, and certainly Pam, who works with Eric, she's certainly got a lesbian vibe — I don't know that that's all she is, but she certainly does seem to appreciate the women.

Pam is played by Kristin Bauer, who serves as Eric's wingwoman at the vampire bar, Fangtasia. Her interests included fancy pumps, showing no mercy and now, apparently, the bar maid, Ginger.

Pam of 'True Blood' Says Yes to Lesbian Story

3 November 2009 1:06 AM, PST | Aceshowbiz | See recent Aceshowbiz news »

Queen of Louisiana Sophie-Ann may not be the only lesbian on "True Blood". After creator Alan Ball projected his thought of having other characters to have a same-sex relationship, actress Kristin Bauer has stepped forward to express her willingness to participate in that storyline.

Bauer plays Pam the sidekick of Eric and the screener of Fangtasia. Ball said he thinks Pam has a "lesbian vibe", explaining further, "I don't know that that's all she is, but she certainly does seem to appreciate the women."

"I wouldn't be surprised," Bauer told E! about Ball's plan to have Pam swinging the other way. "I think she's pansexual." One character that she pointed out to be her potential love interest was Ginger. "There are so many hot ones, but I'll pick Ginger. Ginger's hot. Ginger's fun. She's a screamer and she's a blood donor," the actress stated her reason.

2 November 2009 9:42 AM, PST | TVfanatic | See recent TVfanatic news »

Considering its wealth of gay and bisexual characters, True Blood has often appealed to Lgbt audiences.

With that in mind, The Advocate - an online newspaper that focuses on this community - recently spoke with series creator Alan Ball. The writer promised more gay characters on season three, along with more of Jason Stackhouse.

A few excerpts from the interview:

What other gay characters will be introduced next season?

We'll be meeting the vampire king of Mississippi and his long, long-term companion--- and by long-term I mean really long-term - Talbot. I think Lafayette may meet a love interest, and certainly Pam, who works with Eric, she's certainly got a lesbian vibe - I don't know that that's all she is, but she certainly does seem to appreciate the women.

Will Sophie-Anne go for Sookie?

I think Sophie-Anne is definitely interested in Sookie; I don't believe it's for sexual or »

A this week's  Paley Center for Media fan event, True Blood creator Alan Ball said:

So, there you have it. There might be a naked scene involving Alexander Skårsgard when this HBO hit returns. Do you even care about other spoilers? Yes, you do? Well, okay then...

Ball also opened up about other characters and storylines. To wit:

Sookie's double-edged mission: "Sookie [Anna Paquin] is going to go off in search of Bill [Stephen Moyer], and she will find him. There will be more conjecture about what she is and she will be more driven to discover what she is. She will get closer to the answer."

Jason's DNA: "It's a genetic thing and skips some people and gets in some others. Jason has vestiges of it, in that he's such a fantastic athlete and he's a perfect shot, but he's still human, »

Screen Plays: How 25 Screenplays Made it to a Theatre Near You – For Better or Worse

Screen Plays: How 25 Screenplays Made it to a Theatre Near You – For Better or Worse David S. Cohen, HarperCollins 2008. From the onset, Screen Plays looks like promising reading material for screenwriters and others interested in how screenplays make it from paper to screen. Cohen’s credits are respectable, and the promise of “valuable insider access to the back lots and board rooms” is tantalizing. The book covers some pretty good ground: from blockbusters such as Gladiator, to Indiewood hits such as Lost in Translation and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, to more controversial films such as Happiness and A Dirty Shame, it picks up a decent selection of interesting films that appeal to a broad demographic. In other words, he knows what he’s doing. Screen Plays is easy to navigate, and offers juicy little tidbits from the mouths of actors, directors, and screenwriters. The writing is simple and concise, »
