It’s time once more for Wrestlemania the biggest professional wrestling and sports entertainment event for fans and performers that there is. This year the event is held in Orlando, the home of Nxt – where a lot of the current roster of superstars got their start -and as usual (at least on paper) the card doesn’t seem that great. But that’s the thing with the WWE’s biggest pay per view, there’s always surprises: especially when it comes to Wrestlemania moments….
We’ve already covered the kick-off pre-show, so onto the main event, hosted by The New Day, who kick off proceedings with a typical New Day promo – only this time they’re dressed like Final Fantasy characters (gotta get that video game sponsorship money right?) Though you have to give it to Big E for the double-entendre, hacker-centric joke about “pulling levers” then staring at Xavier Woods!

‘The Devil’s Candy’ Blasts Genre Thrills and the Devil’s Music Into Your Heathen SoulThe director of ‘The Loved Ones’ returns with another intense and suspenseful thriller.
Writer/director Sean Byrne’s debut feature, The Loved Ones, blew festival audiences (including us) away back in 2009 with thrills and suspense born from seeing a character we truly cared about fighting for his life against increasingly twisted and violent odds. It took three years before it actually opened in the Us, but it was worth the wait. Now Byrne’s equally intense follow-up film is finally being released… after premiering at film fests nearly two years ago.
Once again though, The Devil’s Candy is a blistering, intimate, heavy metal-tinged horror/thriller worth waiting for as it drops a loving family into a devilish nightmare where each violent chord brings them closer to a grim and grisly fate.

Smackdown Live is in the books. The Blue Brand of the WWE builds toward the Royal Rumble on January 29th, 2017. What is the current state of Smackdown?
In a bad, bad state. This episode saw the WWE bringing Renee Young being brought into a WWE storyline thanks to her off screen romance with Dean Ambrose. While some of the best stories from wrestling’s past have had elements of truth mixed in, I hate the fact they go to that well whenever they want to make something feel edgy. Renee Young is great in her role. I enjoy her role as host of the big event pre shows as well as the host of Talking Smack on the WWE Network. To inject her into a story smacks of desperation. Let Dean Ambrose and The Miz find anything to squabble over anything else. Their love interests should be left out of it,...

Steve Austin has been getting asked about having one more match since he retired at WrestleMania 19 in 2003. It’s been 11 years and Austin will turn 50 years old this December, but the question never stops. Recently, Austin did an interview at PWTorch.com with Wade Keller and during their discussion Keller asked about whether Austin would consider one more match.
“I’ll reserve my right to if I want to have another match down the road – say, like, Dallas, Texas is going to be (WrestleMania) 32. Now, 31 is right down the road from me. That could be doable, but I don’t see it happening. Now, Dallas, that could be very special going back to Texas for 32. They’re going to need a loaded card to fill that house. So, I’ll reserve my right. But, am I pushing, pandering, selling, promoting? Nothing.”

Cheap Thrills – the movie so nice, I reviewed it twice! And by nice, I mean “absolutely bonkers, brutally honest, and disgustingly entertaining,” of course. You didn’t actually think a dark thriller sporting Troma roots would be missing a wicked sense of humor, completed by aided visual extravagance – did you? Scribes Trent Haaga and David Chirchirillo attack current economical troubles and societal selfishness by playing a mindless bar game that turns into a gruesome fight for normalcy – not millions, just enough to squeak by. Director E.L. Katz values human lives with measly dollar amounts, but our characters become fixated on surviving the night with handfuls of cash – a beautiful character breakdown that darkly questions our own moral judgement. Can one seriously monetarily evaluate a human life?

We’re just days away from Wrestlemania XXX so with all the matches firmed up, barring any that may be added this week (this column was written before 31st March’s Raw), I’m going to offer up my thoughts and hopes for the various bouts (in no particular order, I might add).
Fatal Four Way Tag-Team Match for the WWE Tag Team Championship
Thankfully the Old Age Outlaws seem to have been dropped from the tag team title race, though they are busy elsewhere on the card but we’ll get to them in due course. Instead we’ve got an interesting clash between current champs The Usos, who I happen to think are one of the best tag teams around, Rybaxel, The Real Americans and Los Matadores. I can’t see the title changing hands here, as The Usos are well...

Some people happen to take Professional Wrestling a bit too seriously at times, forgetting that the business is based on a foundation of fun and creativity. After all, wrestling did take place at a lot of circuses and carnival grounds, proving that everyone in the business are really just carnies at heart!
However, sometimes there comes a match that really throws a wrench in the gears of the business, doing something so outlandish and out-of-the-ordinary that it makes everyone, even non-wrestling fans, stop and take notice. From wrestling inanimate objects in the Far East to challenging God himself, to tangling with wild animals to battling opponents that haven’t even hit puberty yet.
These are seven things you will not believe wrestlers actually competed against in the ring.

So here we are, in the midst of the “Road to WrestleMania”, a time of year when WWE pull out the stops and attempt to pull back casual fans for their biggest annual PPV, WrestleMania. We’re a month away from that, and that means we are about to see Elimination Chamber, an event built around a main event cage match featuring six participants fighting for the title, and chances are the winner will go on to WrestleMania to defend the belt against the winner of the Royal Rumble, who this year was, as we know, Batista.
So, lets take a look at the matches that have, currently, been booked and what I feel might be the outcome. I’ve been wrong plenty of times, but it’s always fun to predict outcomes and compare them at the end of the show. So, lets get on with it shall we?...

Before the dawn of the PG Era, it wasn’t uncommon for the Divas to engage in a match-up that would end with the humiliation of their opponents and the expanding of their own vanity: the Bra & Panties Match!
When the PG Era took over, this popular match type was one of the first things to vanish along with the Evening Gown Match and their distant cousins the Lingerie Match, the Paddle-on-a-Pole Match, and every match ever contested in a trough of mud, gravy, eggnog, or pudding.
Although the PG Era may have killed the more risque matches, that doesn’t mean we can’t pay homage to them. Here we will be counting down WWE’s Top 22 Most Titillating T&A Matches. Matches that got everyone’s hearts racing and even had us laughing a time or two. Just to make things clear, we are only taking into account matches,...

To begin, I will say that I have gone through many emotions as a wrestling fan in 2013, from elation to despair and everywhere in between. So is the life of wrestling fandom.
In the opening portion of 2013 we had Cm Punk as the WWE Champion, reaching the end of his lengthy reign that allowed him to announce himself as the “longest reigning WWE champion in the past 25 years”. He lost that belt, in the January, to the “returning for a tickle and a handshake” The Rock. Many fans were upset to see Punk lose so easily to the returning “great one” who had bulked up so much that the athleticism he showed throughout his full-time wrestling career had all but disappeared. The Rock then went on to have two more matches before leaving WWE again to focus on his flourishing movie career. Punk, following a failed attempt at a rematch...

The History of WWE: 50 Years of Sports Entertainment begins with Vince McMahon getting out of his car at WWE headquarters in Connecticut and greeting employees as he makes his way to his office on the top floor of what was once known as TitanTowers.
The documentary portion of this release begins at the beginning, with information about Jess McMahon and Vince McMahon Sr, and how they began what we now know as WWE. Jess McMahon was a boxing promoter, his son Vince, turned it into a traditional regional professional wrestling promotion, and his son, the current head of WWE, Vince McMahon Jr, turned it into the multimedia conglomerate that we know today.
The talking heads are extremely relevant and well picked, it is nice to see the big names from wrestling’s history on here, talking about the history of WWE as a company and the wrestling business as a whole.

WWE Money in the Bank is always a big PPV- so much so that it could be argued that it has taken over Survivor Series’ spot as one of the ‘Big 4′ that also include Summerslam, Royal Rumble and, of course Wrestlemania. Part of the reason for this is that so much of importance is decided during the PPV. Not only are there the usual world title matches, but we also get to see an idea of who may be the future World Champions of the company in the coming year- something that everyone gets excited about as the Iwc can look at who is getting anointed with the next big push.
But the big match in this year’s Mitb is not one of the ladder matches, nor one of the World Title Matches, it is actually a bout that has no title or contract on the line.

Two weeks from now Sdcc 2013 will be winding down, so are there enough horror offerings to entice attendees back to the show for Day 4 (July 21)? With "Supernatural" kicking things off bright and early, we say, "Yes!"
Also on the schedule for Sunday (traditionally the family-themed day of the event) are "Under the Dome," an update on the adaptation of George R.R. Martin's werewolf/Pi/serial killer mashup novella The Skin Trade, a chance to build your own monster, surviving in a post-apocalyptic world, a Neil Gaiman Spotlight panel, a look at what's coming from Diamond Select Toys, a how-to on creating suspenseful, exciting, anxiety-inducing stories, and per usual, a screening of "Buffy the Musical: Once More with Feeling" to close things out.
Since the horror offerings are so light, we've expanded our Day 4 highlights list to cover such topics as the future of sci-fi novels, the 50th anniversary of "Doctor Who,...

Another post-Wrestlemania PPV, another knockout. Cena vs. Ryback at Payback, as was expected, consisted of yet more brutality culminating in another ludicrous ending: an ambulance roof ‘collapse’ that saw Ryback miss out on this week’s Raw entirely in order to ‘sell’ his loss. The highlight of the show, though, was undoubtedly Punk vs. Jericho in a definite contender for Match of the Year.
Del Rio regaining his Championship from Ziggler was the one thing I hadn’t envisioned, nor did I expect him to linger around afterward with a promo prolonged enough to draw impatient heel heat. He did the same thing to open Raw, spouting the same generic heel rubbish about ‘not getting enough respect’ and receiving a different sort of heat from the crowd: apathy. The best cure for apathy is a popular face appearance, so Punk showed up right on cue to disagree with Del Rio and – surprise,...

It’s always nice to see Vince swing by for an appearance now that he’s moved on from malevolent boss to frail old man. “Don’t boo my daughter Stephanie,” he pleaded with the crowd, asking nicely – for once – for us to show some respect to the daughter he beat the crap out of almost ten years ago in an ‘I Quit’ Match. Yes, Stephanie had returned too. “Boy, it sure does feel great to be back on Monday Night Raw,” she said, without a hint of enthusiasm. There were pressing matters for her and Vince to address, chiefly Triple H’s collapse at the end of last week’s Raw. Vince and Steph were adamant that Trips should not compete against Curtis Axel again – a decision that rightfully had the crowd booing. Then, Vince unleashed a tirade against the fans, blaming them for the tragedy that befalls such...

For those of you who may be wondering why United States Champion Antonio Cesaro is not appearing on either the WrestleMania PPV or the pre-show it appears it has a lot to do with Vince McMahon’s personal feelings towards him according to a report coming out of Wrestle Zone.com this afternoon.
According to the source there had originally been plans for the United States Championship to be featured on the Pay Per View when initial match drafts were drawn up in the months leading up to WrestleMania. In fact the United States Championship was going to be on the line alongside the Intercontinental Championship in the same match with both belts up for grabs. The premise for the match was akin to Money in the Bank except it would have been more similar to a traditional ladder match in that the titles would be hanging from the rafters not a briefcase.

Hands up if you remember the WCW Invasion angle back when WWE owner Vince McMahon bought the failing company back in 2001. Now hands up if you were happy with the way Vince and co. handled the whole storyline. Not many of you I’ll bet. What could easily have been the biggest angle in the history of professional wrestling turned into a massive vanity project for the company’s head honcho who outright refused to see those boys from “Dubbya See Dubbya” get the better of any of his creations. It was a huge mistake.
A decade has passed since the horrible Invasion PPV and no one cares to discuss it. Plenty of ex-wcw guys recovered from the failed Invasion (Booker T for example) but many more just faded away into obscurity or simply did not take part (Kevin Nash, Hulk Hogan, Goldberg, Sting). But what if a similar angle...

After a long courtship, Carla Gugino has signed on as the female lead opposite Steve Coogan in David Shore’s ABC legal drama pilot Doubt. Also cast in the project, from Sony TV, is John Pankow. It centers on Vincent (Coogan), a former cop who’s now a cunning but charming low-rent lawyer using his street smarts to work the system for his clients while battling his own demons and wooing his ex-wife Linda (Gugino). Linda is a no-nonsense Ada who has little patience for courtroom antics, especially when it comes to her impulsive ex-husband. Despite their separation, they still hook up occasionally for torrid sex, and although she can no longer live with Vince, it’s apparent that Linda still has a deep affection for him. Pankow plays Mr. Syd Newman, an old-school attorney who works with his wife and fellow lawyer in offices that they rent from Vince.

This past Monday night on Raw many fans – myself included – expected to see the return of the one and only wrestling phenomenon The Undertaker to set up his much talked about Wrestlemania 29 match with Cm Punk. It didn’t happen. Instead Punk was somehow thrust into possible WWE title contention at the huge PPV by goading Royal Rumble winner John Cena into putting his number one contender status on the line next week on Raw. This leaves us in an interesting position going forward in that WWE seemingly has no plans for it’s resident Dead Man, but is that actually the case?
Two weeks ago The Undertaker was spotted at a Predator’s NHL game in Nashville which just so happened to be the location of that night’s episode of Monday Night Raw which instantly set the internet ablaze with speculation and rumour that he would be making his surprise return.

WCW may be best remembered for the Nwo angle. A storyline that basically made wrestling “cool” back in the 90s. But there was so much more to World Championship Wrestling… like ridiculous gimmick matches, some of which are considered the worst matches of all time. Though that’s not really fair, it’s not the matches fault, or the wrestlers who took part in them. WCW is to blame for these profoundly stupid match types.
In the right hands with the right participates some of WCW’s dumbest stipulations could become legendary battles talked about for generations. Or at the very least a mild laugh on a Monday night. Here are five WCW matches that WWE needs to bring back and give a fair chance.

In the aftermath of the Royal Rumble, we are officially on the Road to Wrestlemania. This is the time of year where all of the storylines from the past year reach their finale. It’s also the time of the year when at least 14 minutes of every broadcast must involve someone (or multiple someone’s) pointing and staring longingly at the Wrestlemania sign. Sidenote: This year’s Wrestlemania sign doesn’t feature the traditional Roman numeral layout of past signs, which much be confusing to people who are trying to figure out exactly what number “NY/NJ” is.

There has been mixed reactions in regards to the total lack of guest appearances on Raw considering this was the 20th Anniversary and I am most definitely of the persuasion that this was the correct way to go about it. With only 2 weeks to go until the Rumble, there was some real need to get some of the key feuds moved forward. It was just a massive shame that creative didn’t get the memo!
Opening Highlight Video
Raw opened with quite a funky mash up of all the Raw intro vids over the years which came across quite nicely. The editing wasn’t superb but I liked it. Simple and effective from the guys in the truck and would be the first of many compilation videos, each serving a purpose to re-live some of the moments from Raw’s past. Again, this was the correct way to go about it.

In a boring and pointless segment, Cena answers the fans social media questions including Cena passing the torch to Ryback, his advice to Ryback for the match, if Cena thinks he can beat Ryback (he puts his name in the hat to be the first challenger if he wins) and says he wants another shot at The Rock.
Final tout message comes from Dolph Ziggler who wants to know the truth about what is going on. Cena asks him to come to the ring, so he does. Ziggler attempts to attack Cena but Cena sends him right back to the floor with a clothesline.

Matt Striker and Scott Stanford kick off the WWE No Way Out pre-show hyping up the card live from the Izod Center in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
Backstage we see Primo, Epcio and Rosa Mendes arguing with Abraham Washington. They want to know when they are going to get their WWE Tag Team Title shot. Aw says he has placed them in a fatal four-way match for the number 1 contendership for the tag titles and this will put them in a great spotlight for the gold. The Usos vs Primo & Epico vs Tyson Kidd & Justin Gabriel vs Titus O’Neil & Darren Young is set for the pay-per-view later.
Pre-Show Match: Brodus Clay defeated David Otunga via countout when Otunga wanted no more of Clay. Otunga poses as Clay and his dancers celebrate the victory.

“Hardcore Legend” Mick Foley’s lack of use in the WWE since his return to the company last November is down to Triple H.
Wrestling Observer Newsletter editor Dave Meltzer said on F4WOnline.com’s radio show this week that Hhh has turned down almost all WWE creative’s suggestions to use him on television.
Despite Foley being the wrestler in early 2000 who did more for getting Triple H over as a main event guy in his first WWE title reign than anyone, including two tremendous pay-per-view main events as Cactus Jack in the Street Fight at Royal Rumble and a Hell in a Cell at No Way Out where Foley made Hhh put him over and make him look like a million dollars, Hhh is said to be resentful of Foley.

Last night’s WWE Raw SuperShow from the Xl Center in Hartford, Connecticut.
John Laurinaitis comes down to start the bumper packed three-hour Raw show and is about to introduce himself when Vince McMahon’s No Chance music plays and he gets a big pop from the crowd.
Vince gets in the ring and says he won’t shake Johnny’s hand because he doesn’t know where he has been. He wants to get right to the job evaluation and he asks Laurinaitis why he should be spared from being fired. Laurinaitis says two words – people power. He says he fumbles his words but he listens to people and he empowers them and they love him for it.
Vince asks the fans if they love Laurinaitis and the response isn’t good. A “fire Johnny” chant breaks out in the crowd as he attempts to suck up to Vince.

Cm Punk proves that he is the best in the world when it comes to selling, Sheamus and Dolph Ziggler have a cracking non title match on Smackdown and the Raw Rating suffers without the presence of John Cena. Here is a look at the best and some of the worse stuff from the past week of WWE programming.
Wrestler of the week: Cm Punk
The long standing wwe champion was announced on Raw as the cover boy for the WWE 13 videogame on Raw and justified the decision with two solid in ring performances over the past week. The match with Daniel Bryan on Raw was not a patch on their classic from Over the Limit and used more as an angle to escalate tension with Kane and develop the relationship between Punk and Aj. It still however featured some excellent exchanges from two men who have superb chemistry and...

Sheamus continues to shine as a worker, Tyson Kidd and Antonio Cesaro steal the show on Superstars and Kane is still able to wrestle after receiving twenty six chair shots prior to a match-up. Here is a look at the best and some of the worse stuff from the past week in the WWE.
Wrestler of the week: Sheamus
The Irishman coming to the aid of John Cena at the start of Raw brought some much needed energy to a dire segment involving John Laurinaitis, Eve and the Big Show and helped to wash away the taste of yet another horrendous verbal performance from Cena. Later in the night, when partnering with the poster boy, the world heavyweight champion had some great powerhouse exchanges with Tensai, some brilliantly heroic brawling on the outside with the lumberjacks and solid back and forths with both Ziggler and Swagger who he also had...

The Big News: John Laurinaitis fired Big Show but was informed by John Cena that he too would be fired unless he emerged victorious in their match at Over the Limit. Meanwhile Paul Heyman made another appearance and threatened Triple H with a lawsuit after Hunter made physical contact with him and Chris Jericho inflamed further animosity between Sheamus and Randy Orton in the build to their fatal four way world heavyweight championship match.
In a Nutshell: Phoney lawsuits, false firings and comedy villains or how the WWE stopped caring and learnt that they could simply rely on Wrestlemania.
Triple H and John Laurinaitis bumped into one another backstage at the start of the show. Laurinaitis explained that he had no idea Brock Lesnar was going to attack him like he did and then amusingly disguised an insult with false sympathy by saying how painful it was to watch Lesnar...

The Big News: Brock Lesnar continued to wreak havoc by breaking Triple H’s arm, Daniel Bryan won a beat the clock challenge to challenge Cm Punk for the WWE title at Over the Limit and John Laurinatis confirmed that he would face Cena at the same PPV after having beaten his hurt rival senseless with the assistance of Lord Tensai and Sakomoto.
In a Nutshell: A very disappointing follow up to an outstanding Extreme Rules PPV.
WWE Raw was advertised with a graphic and introduced as starring Brock Lesnar.
John Laurinaitis came out to start the show bragging about how he had revolutionised the WWE and then introduced Brock Lesnar as the force who had beaten Cena so badly that the poster boy may never be the same again. Brock talked about how he had brought the pain before being interrupted by COO Triple H.

The Big News: Brock Lesnar returned to pummel John Cena. The Rock vowed to regain the wwe championship and Cm Punk defended his world championship against Mark Henry only to receive a vindictive drink fuelled surprise from Chris Jericho post-match.
In a Nutshell: Here comes the pain!
—
The show opened with all the superstars sat backstage in a meeting. They were being spoken to by new General Manager of both brands John Laurinaitis. Laurinaitis promised that he wouldn’t abuse his power right before announcing that Santino would defend his United States Title against Jack Swagger and Dolph Ziggler. Ziggler and Swagger then celebrated like Bill and Ted, completely oblivious to the fact that only one of them would be able to win the championship. Punk then arrived and called Laurinaitis a tool so the Gm booked him in a match to defend his world heavyweight championship against Mark Henry.

The Big News: Triple H finally accepted Undertaker’s WrestleMania offer and even suggested that they compete in a Hell in a Cell match. Meanwhile John Cena cut one of the best promos of his career on The Rock, Chris Jericho won a ten man battle royal to face Cm Punk at Wrestlemania and Sheamus vs Daniel Bryan was also confirmed for the April 1st megashow.
In a Nutshell: Triple H and John Cena showcase their sublime skill for angry promos.
Show opened with Eve Torres turning heel backstage. The Bella Twins asked her about the welfare of Zack Ryder and she replied by laughing off their association and claiming that she was just using him to get herself noticed. She then said she would use John Cena in a similar fashion but unfortunately for her Cena was stood there listening.
Eve Torres then changed tact and followed John Cena to the ring whilst crying.

The Big News: Another bad week for John Laurinaitis as the Gm was informed that his position is up for review and ended the night being struck down by Punk with a Gts. Meanwhile Kane installed further rage in Cena by sending Ryder to hospital following their Falls count anywhere match and a Miz loss to R-Truth means that he will be the unfortunate number one entrant in this Sunday’s Royal Rumble match.
In a Nutshell: I’d advise watching old Rumble tapes to get hyped for this weekend as this show did little to promote the excitement and drama of the WWE’s unique 30 man event.
Cm Punk started the show. He talked very briefly about Dolph Ziggler getting some cheap pinfalls over him before turning his attention to the perpetrator behind these immoral victories, John Laurinaitis. He played the clip of Laurinaitis admitting that he was going...

The Big News: A night of flared tempers on Raw as John Laurinaitis was verbally humiliated by Punk and took out his frustrations in physical form against Mick Foley and an enraged John Cena pleased his rival Kane by delivering a hate fuelled beatdown to the new United States champion Jack Swagger.

Mick Foley came out to start the show. He talked about how most of his dreams as a WWE competitor had been fulfilled but that he still had one more dream and that was for his two youngest kids to see him wrestle and with that in mind he announced his intentions to enter this year’s Royal Rumble. WWE was an odd beast in 2011 being at times so repetitive and cringeworthy that it made you embarrassed to be a fan and on other occasions so thrilling that you couldn’t imagine living without it. Like a relationship with a schizophrenic, the company delighted with one of its best ever years for sustained PPV quality yet one of its worse for overall direction and booking, showed signs of promoting new talent yet made a mockery of the stars it had tried to push the year before and gripped crowds with fantastic inciting incidents for feuds only to transform them into meaningless rivalries through needlessly rushing the strands of the story.
Throughout all the ups and downs of the year the superstars continued to work tirelessly to entertain the masses in arguably the most relentlessly taxing entertainment profession in the world and all deserve respect for their boundless energy and...

In a Nutshell: A good night for pure wrestling fans with nearly 40 minutes of in ring action.
Piper’s Pit with John Cena opened the show. Piper talked about how his career was defined by crowd energy whether they cheered him and made him do good things or booed him and made him do bad things. This week, WWE dropped the bombshell that The Rock would be returning to the ring at November’s Survivor Series PPV event for his first match since 2004. At next year’s Wrestlemania, The Rock will step in the ring with John Cena as his opponent in what has been dubbed a ‘dream match’. Come November however, the two will be partners as early WWE advertising points towards them teaming up in a 5 on 5 Survivor Series Elimination Match.
