"Tonight we are running a game! Our game, I admit, is a rather unusual one... But I can assure you that it will be far more entertaining than anyhing you have ever been a part of." That sounds like a line from the new Hunger Games movie! Ha. An early teaser trailer is out for a new horror thriller film titled Stream, from actor / filmmaker Michael Leavy. Described as "a modern take on traditional slasher films" – from the same team that brought you Terrifier 2, featuring special effects from Damien Leone. They don't give away the game, obviously it involves live streaming and they add: "Let's be honest, when it comes to slashers, four is better than one... With multiple killers competing in a sadistic game, this film has boundless creativity and an endless future." The huge ensemble cast includes Tony Todd, Jeffrey Combs, Danielle Harris, Tim Reid, Dee Wallace,...

Plot: When filmmaker Mason Maestro throws a private party after production wraps on his new slasher flick, someone dressed like the killer in the movie starts knocking off the partiers one-by-one.
Review: After working together on the stalker film Blind (read my review at This Link) and its sequel Pretty Boy (which we’re still anxiously waiting to see), director Marcel Walz, screenwriter Joe Knetter, and star Sarah French have teamed up once again to launch a production company called Neon Noir. The Horror Show (1989)

Some films aren’t served very well by their titles. A name is just a name, but then again, first impressions can seal the deal. I didn’t see The Horror Show until about a week ago. When George A. Romero's Day of the Dead premiered on Friday, July 19, 1985, it was released in the same fashion that his Dawn of the Dead was distributed seven years earlier, which is to say without an MPAA rating. The poster sported the caveat (or allure, depending on your point of view): “Due to scenes of violence, which may be considered shocking, no one under 17 admitted.” Widely considered as an independent maverick in the film industry, Mr. Romero once again decided not to submit his film to the ratings board knowing full well that they would demand extensive cuts, leaving most of Tom Savini and Greg Nicotero’s best work on the cutting room floor. One of the major problems with releasing a film unrated is that the perception is that it is, in fact, a self-imposed X-rating. An “X” generally means death at the box office,...

Michael once said to me, “Filmmaking is not an art, it’s a science.” Like any absolutism or black and white one-liner, this was only half-true.
Good filmmaking takes lots of planning. A producer and director must coordinate cast and crew. They must find locations. They must plan the composition and camera movement of each and every single shot.
But where this becomes a half-truth is at the very beginning of the process: the script. Writing a script is like painting a picture, writing a song, creating any form of art. It begins with emotion and turns into a process of agony. Of blood, sweat, and tears. Writing is cathartic. And this was Michael’s greatest secret.
I met Michael two years ago. He heard I was putting together a film. My crew and I made that film, and we submitted it to Michael’s festival. He personally called me...

A unique event - a convention centered solely on the undead and “zombie culture” - took place here in the Emerald City. Organized by promoter Ryan Reiter (of “Red, White, and Dead” fame), this was an undertaking the size of which would have been bold for even an already established convention. For a first-time con, the scope of it was impressive, to say the least.
The guest list alone was one that would cause most promoters to lay awake at night fitfully worrying over logistics: George Romero, Bruce Campbell, Malcolm McDowell, Chuck Palahniuk (author, Fight Club), Max Brooks (author, World War Z), John Amplas (Martin, Day Of The Dead), Terry Alexander (Day Of The Dead), Scott Reiniger (Dawn Of The Dead) Ted Raimi (Spider-man), The Ladies of The Evil Dead (Theresa Tilly, Betsy Baker, Ellen Sandweiss), Danny Hicks (Evil Dead 2: Dead By Dawn), Timothy Patrick Quill (Army Of Darkness), the Zombie Research Society,...

Zombies. I love ‘em. You love ‘em. From the looks of most media, everybody loves ‘em. Long considered the drunken, famished, and wholly unruly guests at the Horror Party, they’re appearing in everything from books, movies, videogames, even commercials and a Halloween-themed Sears web site. This year however, there’s a new venue in town: ZomBCon.
ZomBCon is a “convention of the living dead” happening in Seattle, Wa and horror sites and mainstream news outlets are buzzing about it.
