I saw this new trailer for Alexandre Aja's Mirrors before The X-Files movie this week and I have to say, it's really hard to focus on the scary when Paula Patton is on screen. What a beautiful woman. So, I tended to block out a lot of what they wanted me to see just waiting for Paula to show up again. If you saw her anywhere, it was in 2006 when she appeared with Denzel in Deja Vu and was the female lead in the disastrous OutKast movie, Idlewild.
She's not the big star of Mirrors, of course; she plays Kiefer Sutherland's wife as the entire family starts getting tormented by the mirrors where Kiefer has taken a job as a security guard. I've had a chance to watch the trailer again, and it's pretty unsettling stuff. I think Aja (High Tension, The Hills Have Eyes) may have a hit on his hands.

The headline warned you so if you clicked on this article from work and are now pissed at me for what is featured below then I don't know what to say. For those of you smart enough to click on this headline when it was "safe" (which I am assuming is most of you) then let me tell you what you are seeing. There is no telling when this scene happens in the film, but judging from the fact that it is Amy Smart I have to assume it is about halfway as Alexandre Aja delivers a personal message as well as this new photo from his film Mirrors, which hits theaters on August 15. Dear friends, With the opening of my film Mirrors just a few weeks away, I thought I would share a new tasty visual from one of my favorite scenes; a scene that I hope will change

This has to be the coolest picture I've ever had the honor of posting on Dread Central.
By clicking the image above, you'll get a very graphic and detailed look at one of the gory deaths that awaits the characters in Alexandre Aja's Mirrors. No one is safe from the spectres who haunt reflective surfaces as they wage a seemingly unstoppable war against the living. How do you beat ghosts who can harm you via your reflection? Kiefer Sutherland has his work cut out for him on August 15th!
Today we were also shown the friendlier Mirrors trailer for those who'd like to watch it at work or maybe even around your kids.

Less than a month to go before Alexandre Aja's Mirrors hits theatres with Kiefer Sutherland as the lead. The ghosts are pissed and want revenge on the living in the most nasty of ways via any and all reflective surfaces. Yeah!
And now for the theatrical trailer thanks to MTV...

In a press release sent out yesterday we learned that Showtime Networks Inc. has entered into an exclusive seven-year film distribution arrangement with The Weinstein Company. Oh boy right? Who gives a shit? Well, there are a couple of interesting tidbits in there, primarily the fact that The Weinstein Co. has now grabbed hold of Quentin Tarantino's Inglorious Bastards, Rob Marshall's Nine is now out of limbo, the remake of David Cronenberg's Scanners is getting the go, Alexandre Aja's Piranha 3-D has an official home (which it already did) and we learn there will be a Scream 4. Yup, that's right kiddies, they are setting out to "restart" the Scream franchise. Now before you get all up in arms as if this is the worst thing ever because the Scream movies got worse and worse and worse as they went on let me just say that

Showtime Networks and The Weinstein Company just announced a 7-year exclusive deal that will see some pretty interesting shows and movies being made. None more interesting, we think, than Scream 4.
And I don’t mean “interesting” in a good way here, I actually mean “ridiculous”. They have the Scanners remake and Alexandre Aja’s Piranha 3-D on the list over at Coming Soon, but they just don’t make the eyes roll like yet another lame sequel in the Franchise That Wouldn’t Die.
Read the whole announcement on Coming Soon if you’re interested, but don’t look for any more Scream 4 details; something tells me this is simply in the idea phase right now. Hopefully someone will realize what a bad idea it is and squash it before it goes too much further. But hey, at least Neve Campbell will have a job again!

Need a good reason to make a trip across the pond? Or perhaps you live in the UK and are just dying for something cool to do? We’ve got just the thing, if you don’t mind waiting till August…
The Film4 Frightfest runs this August 21st–25th, and its official schedule is now online. They’re cramming in a lot this year, and all of it is, to me, worth making the trip to London for. The creepy-sounding headfuck Mum & Dad, the film being called the “next big thing”, Martyrs, and the premiere of Alexandre Aja’s Mirrors are just some of the films playing this year’s fest.
Check out the full schedule for the 2008 Film 4 Frightfest right here, and look for reviews and hopefully some day-to-day reporting as the festival gets under way!

Only a few days ago we reported about the first teaser for Alexandre Aja’s “Mirrors,” and today the upcoming horror flick received its first official poster, which appeared over at ShockTillYouDrop.com.
Although I pretty much hate the trailer and fear this is going to be yet another simplistic remake of a classic Asian flick, this one-sheet looks pretty good. It’s simple, but quite enticing as well. The film opens Aug. 15, 2008. Kiefer Sutherland and Amy Smart star.

Our quick thoughts: Yahoo! Movies today posted the first teaser trailer for Alexandre Aja’s upcoming horror flick “Mirrors,” which stars Kiefer Sutherland as a department store security guard who investigates some mysterious deaths that happen in front of the store’s mirrors. The film is obviously a remake, and the first teaser clearly fails to deliver the goods. I know the limited footage here is not enough to judge an entire film, but it’s enough to realize that we’ve seen all this way too many times already. And could somebody please tell my what the heck Kiefer Sutherland is doing in this film? I really enjoy watching him kicking butt on TV’s “24,” but his big-screen efforts so far didn’t exactly succeed. If you loved the recent remake of “The Eye,” chances are you’ll enjoy “Mirrors.” I for one am getting a little sick of

This week 20th Century Fox went crazy in unleashing content for Alex Aja's Mirrors, which arrives in theaters August 15. But here's the kicker, you guys have made a difference - after reading all of your comments under the posts for the official website update and trailer release, Fox has realized that you guys think this is just another Asian horror remake. In response to your complaints, Fox has provided us with some uber bloody stills as a taste of what you can expect, not that it's all that surprising considering the film was directed by Alex Aja (High Tension, The Hills Have Eyes).

The man who brought more top-drawer directors and bottom-of-the-barrel schlock to Hollywood than anyone will be profiled in the documentary feature King of the B's: The Independent Life of Roger Corman. Stick 'N Stone Prods. will finance and produce Alex Stapleton's docu examining the impact of Corman, who directed more than 50 films and produced more than 300 during five decades. The docu will look at how Corman has influenced the industry through films like "The Little Shop of Horrors" and the auteurs, including Martin Scorsese, he has mentored. Films like Alexandre Aja's upcoming remake "Piranha 3-d" continue his legacy. Stapleton, who produced Spike TV and Canal Plus' docu "Just for Kicks," will make his feature directorial debut with "King."
