Mike Aho is an experienced producer and TV show creator specializing in unscripted development and production across linear, streaming, short-form, and branded content. He is renowned for his talent in creating, selling, and producing unscripted series in all formats. Mike's journey began when he moved to Paris, France, at 18 years old to attend the Sorbonne, before graduating from UCLA's School of Film and TV. Awarded the prestigious Charles Boyer Fellowship, he returned to Paris to launch his career in unscripted TV. As the show-runner and director for M6's "StarNews" and "Grandeur Nature," Mike wrote and directed several award-winning feature documentaries. After a decade in Europe, he contributed to major productions in Los Angeles, including "Queer Eye" and "The Bachelor," and served as the show-runner for TLC's "Take Home Chef."
Throughout his career, Mike has consistently demonstrated his expertise in transforming and elevating content. After successfully developing and producing two series for Glassman Media, he joined Collins Avenue as the VP of Factual Television. At Shine, as SVP of Factual, he created a new unscripted department, successfully selling and producing several series. His tenure at Core Media as Head of Development and Production saw him create and produce major shows like American Idol and So You Think You Can Dance. At Tastemade, he spearheaded streaming TV production, revolutionizing the company's workflow and processes. Under his leadership, Tastemade transitioned from a digital entity to a producer of traditional premium TV shows, earning Emmy and James Beard award nominations. For the past three years, Mike has been running his own production company, producing several successful series. Adding to his achievements, he has recently established Apparatus TV, a new venture poised to be a powerful force in reinventing how content is created and produced, further solidifying his status as a visionary leader in the industry.
