John Stockwell, whose place in movie heaven shall forever be assured for Into The Blue alone, has signed on to direct the action comedy Roadkill.That’s not to be confused, of course, with the excellent Paul Walker/Steve Zahn/John Dahl thriller, Roadkill, from a few years ago. That movie was titled Joyride for the States and was renamed for the UK. We’d quite like it if Stockwell’s Roadkill were renamed Joyride, to be honest…But we digress. The film tells the story of two amateur private eyes who bite off more than they can chew when they agree to protect a high-end escort. What follows – including female assassins and a potential government conspiracy – tests them to the hilt.Sounds pretty routine to us. In a story from The Hollywood Reporter, John Stockwell (Turistas) will be helming the action comedy Roadkill.
The script was penned by Nick Ball and John Niven.
The story follows two would be private detectives who get a lot more than they bargained for when they take on a case protecting a high-end escort from a female assassin. During the course of their assignment, they uncover a possible government conspiracy.

"Turistas," not to be confused with John Stockwell's 2006 feature, is from director Alicia Scherson and making an official North American premiere June 18, 2009 at the Los Angeles Film Festival. Including a lone backpacker braving the elements the film explores an intensity through a minimal use of characters. Although, film production was finished in 2008 this very underground thriller now gets a wider audience in this limited theatrical release. Nick Cassavetes has been tapped to direct a movie based on the life of animal conservationist Dame Daphne Sheldrick. Sheldrick has dedicated more than 30 years of her life to saving elephants from extinction by taking in animals orphaned by war, poaching and culling in Kenya. The deal is so fresh there are few details to reveal other than the plot which concerns a group of strangers who wake up in an endless field.
