There are many classic films with David Fincher’s name on them. From Gone Girl to Fight Club, there is not a movie he has made that managed to escape the hearts of fans. The range he has provided brings about the idea of possible sequels he could look back to at some point in Fincher’s career. In the direction Hollywood has recently been taking, there are more sequels than there are original films.

Out of all the films that the director has made, there is one that he would do the worst over if it meant to make a sequel. Some projects are best left as is and he understands that more than anything. One mustn’t milk the cow beyond its capabilities.

Willem Dafoe is a fan favorite after having portrayed several iconic villains in his decades-long career in the film industry. Yet it is his portrayal of Green Goblin in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man that has been widely hailed as one of the best roles he has ever done.

From his chilling blue eyes to his menacing smile that can go from warm to blood-curling in the flash of a second, Dafoe is one of those actors who was bound to play a villain. Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man will always be hailed as the movie that laid the groundwork for future comic book movies to come and dominate the box office. From Goblin's signature theme for "Suspiria" to the viral success of Richard Carter's "Talk To Me" track "Le Monde," the right song at the right time can be the making of a great horror movie. "We can try a billion songs," says Matt Bettinelli-Olpin — co-director with Tyler Gillett of upcoming ballerina vampire movie "Abigail" — but when they hit on the perfect track, "We go, 'Oh f**k, that's the song. That's great. It hits all the notes."
Sometimes the right song isn't out there yet, and the movie calls for a new one to be written from scratch. When the directing duo needed an old-timey "Hide and Seek" tune with a Vincent Price-esque narrator for their 2019 horror-comedy "Ready or Not," they couldn't find one — so they asked "Southbound" composers Louis Castle and James Bairian (known collectively as The Gifted) to write something original. Spider-Man is hands down one of the most iconic Marvel characters out there. Who doesn’t love our friendly neighborhood Spider-Man? But the character wouldn’t have been the fan favorite he was if it had not been for the magic weaved by Spider-Man: The Animated Series. The series was invaluable to Marvel, making innumerable characters household names for the people at large. Most of the characters featured in the series were loved by the fans. There were a few exceptions – one being the Hobgoblin.

X-Men ’97 turned in another episode of the season, revealing to audiences that the Jean Grey who has a child with Scott Summers is not Jean Grey at all. As Scott struggles to cope with the revelation, with Jean in a comma, X-Men ’97 begins adapting one of the most gripping X-Men stories…and wraps it up with a neat bow in one episode.
Jean Grey in X-Men ’97
From Jean Grey’s return to the introduction of the Goblin Queen, it was almost as if the show had too many things lined up for the episode, but did not give any of them the time to breathe. While the Goblin Queen saga had a lot of juicy details, it seems the show crossed over a lot of the drama in an effort to adapt the entire story in one episode, much to the detriment of the narrative.

Sam Raimi’s recent stint with the MCU, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, was a big let-down for the fans. Raimi rose to prominence by directing one of the most popular superhero movies of our time, the original Spider-Man trilogy starring Tobey Maguire. While his first two films are celebrated widely, the third Spider-Man film is often condemned as the worst film among the web-slinger’s films. The film’s failure could be attributed to the rushed inclusion of multiple villains.

Among the three villains was Topher Grace’s version of Venom, which was absolutely hated by the audience. Interestingly, Raimi had no interest in including Venom in his trilogy. The fan-favorite villain got his chance at redemption when Sony made the standalone Venom movie, with Tom Hardy portraying the character.

A lot of past villains returned for "Spider-Man: No Way Home," but it's safe to say that Willem Dafoe's Green Goblin made the strongest second impression. When the Goblin side of him took over, he was mean and terrifying, even more so than he was back in 2002, but when the Osbourne side was back in control, he was surprisingly sympathetic. He brought a dark, unpredictable energy to the film that Tom Holland's first two "Spider-Man" movies never quite had. The brutality of the Green Goblin helped prevent the film from feeling a little too much like a theme park ride and helped make the movie's cameo-filled nature seem a lot less self-indulgent.
A lot of this came down to Dafoe's insistence that he could get in on the action and that the movie let him be in the fight scenes as much as possible instead of relying too much on CGI.

Sony Pictures’ 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home starring Tom Holland was directed by Jon Watts and was the sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming and Spider-Man: Far From Home. The movie saw the return of not only Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield but also Alfred Molina and Willem Dafoe as Doc Ock and Green Goblin. Kevin Feige explains why the studios avoided bringing them back before No Way Home.
Upon its release, Spider-Man: No Way Home received positive reviews from the critics and the audience and became the highest-grossing film of 2021. The movie grossed near about $1.9 billion worldwide and surpassed its predecessors. The crossover between the Marvel Cinematic Universe and previous Spider-Man movies directed by Sam Raimi and Marc Webb was highly appreciated by the audience. According to Kevin Feige they had a good reason for not bringing back the characters before Spider-Man: No Way Home.

There are no shortage of movies and TV shows that were affected in some way by 9/11. "The Simpsons" stopped playing repeats of its New York episode, which prominently featured the Twin Towers, several years after the event. Action movies featuring any sort terrorism storyline (like "Collateral Damage" and "Bad Company") were significantly delayed. Stand-up comedy was also forced to adjust; just days before the tragedy, George Carlin had a comedy album unfortunately titled "I Kinda Like It When a Lotta People Die," which had to be shelved indefinitely.
Sam Raimi's 2002 film "Spider-Man" was also affected, especially since so much of its filming wrapped up as early as June 2001. Its hero has famously always lived in New York City, and his ability to swing from webs throughout the city skyline naturally included a few shots of the World Trade Center. The early promotion for the movie, released before 9/11, prominently featured...

In a recent episode of Loki season 2, Ravonna Renslayer and Miss Minutes travel to 1863 Chicago. There, they find a young boy and give him a Tva handbook written by Ke Huy Quan’s Tva technician, Ouroboros. The next time we see that boy in 1893, he’s a man going by the name of Victor Timely who has studied the details of that book and is now able to invent the contraptions inside it, including the temporal loom that will become the center of the Tva.
This, of course, raises a question. Who really started the Tva? We’ve been told that the Tva was founded by He Who Remains, the man who Victor Timely will become. But now Loki shows that Victor/Hwr got the idea for the Tva from Ob’s book. How can He Who Remains be both the inspiration and be inspired?
The answer, of course, is time travel.

“Tonight we have special news for you: we closed all the exits. Clad in something like a ringmaster jacket over a Deadpool T-shirt, a smile beamed across the maestro’s face.

Claudio Simonetti’s Goblin — founding keyboardist Claudio Simonetti’s modern manifestation of prolific Italian prog-rock composers Goblin — hits the road today to perform a live score to Demons followed by a set of other classic Goblin tracks across North America.
“Normally I play the same films, like Deep Red and Suspiria,” Simonetti tells me. “I have seen Demons with the actors at conventions, and I think that people love this film. It’s a cult film. I said, ‘Why don’t we try to do Demons live?’ It’s the first time. I never did it before. We have had a lot of rehearsals this summer.”
Originally, Simonetti wanted to do a Dawn of the Dead tour in celebration of the film’s 45th anniversary. “It’s one of my favorites, of course, but we are having some troubles with the producer for the rights to play the score live.

Johnny Jewel’s latest project is the soundtrack to the Dutch drama film Holly. Before the full Ost is out October 13th via his label Italians Do It Better, he’s shared a preview of it with the lead single “The Witch.” He’s also announced a run of European tour dates, during which he’ll play sets comprising music from his prolific film score discography.
Directed and written by Fien Troch, Holly centers around a 15-year-old girl whose school is largely destroyed by a fire one day after she calls out of class. As her community grieves, they begin to see some unspoken quality in Holly that makes her an unlikely source of support, though perhaps at the sacrifice of her own wellbeing.

Google “forgiving John Galliano.” I’ll wait.
That’s quite a list of headlines, huh? “How Fashion Forgave John Galliano.” “Why Won’t People Forgive John Galliano?” “Should John Galliano Be Forgiven?” “Can We Forgive John Galliano Already?” Those are just within the first five results.
With hindsight, the-then Dior creative director was the first to really feel the brunt of today’s so-called “cancel culture” — and with good reason. His comments from December 2010 at Parisian Cafe La Perle, captured via smartphone in a way that vulgar remarks could not have been beforehand and released only a couple months later after yet another altercation, were truly vile. He spoke about his love of Hitler, his hatred of Jews, and his seeming approval of the Holocaust.

Are you ready to dive into the lurid world of essential Giallo horror movies, filled with garish murders, striking visuals, and twisting plots?
Born in the ’60s and thriving throughout the ’70s, Giallo takes its name from the Italian word for “yellow,” a nod to the cheap, pulpy mystery novels with yellow covers that inspired the genre. Characterized by elaborate set pieces, vivid colors, and convoluted plot twists, Giallo films are as intellectual as they are visceral. Renowned directors like Dario Argento and Mario Bava helped define the genre with their visual flair and innovative storytelling.

While Italian genre cinema generated its fair share of classics throughout the ’70s and ’80s, filmmakers during that period were also quick to exploit successful trends. Lax copyright protections gave way to Italian rip-offs of such hits as The Exorcist, Jaws, Dawn of the Dead, Alien, The Evil Dead, and Mad Max, to name a few.
Not even Italy’s own productions were safe from imitation, as the cannibal subgenre proved. While 1972’s Man from Deep River is often cited as the originator, the international notoriety of Cannibal Holocaust ushered in the cannibal boom in 1980. Man from Deep River director Umberto Lenzi helmed another one of the subgenre’s highlights, Cannibal Ferox (originally released in the US as Make Them Die Slowly), in 1981.

‘Venom 3‘ is right on the horizon. The first movie, starring Tom Hardy and Michelle Williams, started the franchise with a bang that was very much a surprise. The first film felt like a throwback to those early X-Men films from the early 2000s, and while it wasn’t very good in the end, it was fun. People’s curiosity really managed to win in the end, making the film a success at the box office. The second film was a more strange case, this time directed by Andy Serkis. The film just didn’t live up to expectations. And by being released during the pandemic period, it couldn’t come close to the previous film’s performance at the box office.

Willem Dafoe Was Cast as the Green Goblin After Billy Bob Thornton Rejected the Role in ‘Spider-Man’
The first Spider-Man film featured Willem Dafoe as the superhero’s arch-nemesis, which was a role he’d later reprise in No Way Home. But originally, Monster’s Ball star Billy Bob Thornton was courted for the Green Goblin.

Thornton has proven himself to be one of Hollywood’s most versatile stars. The veteran actor has starred in powerful dramas like Sling Blade and Monster’s Ball, but also lent his talents to more lighthearted material such as Bad Santa. But Thornton asserted that most of his characters had the trait of being ‘very flawed’ in common.

Jamie Foxx is an incredibly gifted Academy Award-winning actor with a slew of impressive performances under his belt. The actor appeared in the TV show "In Living Color," Michael Mann's "Ali," "Collateral," and "Miami Vice," and won an Oscar for "Ray." There's seemingly nothing he can't do, which is why I was ecstatic when he landed the role of Electro in 2014's "The Amazing Spider-Man 2."
Foxx was worth every penny.
The comic book epic got bashed by critics upon its release. It was disappointing enough at the box office that Sony scrapped all plans for a follow-up. Thankfully, the movie gods gifted fans "Spider-Man: No Way Home," which brought back Foxx's Electro (and many more past favorites) for more Spidey-punching mayhem. And lucky for me, "No Way Home" makes it easier to pick out a handful of my favorite Foxx as Electro moments.
Be warned: there are many.

Willem Dafoe made his mark on the Spider-Man mythology by portraying one of the hero’s fiercest villains the Green Goblin. But when he saw glimpses of Andrew Garfield’s reboot of the film franchise, he didn’t have a high opinion of it.

It wasn’t easy for Dafoe to snag the part of Spider-Man’s arch-nemesis in Sam Raimi’s adaptation of Spider-Man. Dafoe was already a seasoned actor at the time with an extensive film resume behind him. But even he had to screen when he was being considered for the Green Goblin. It was a process Dafoe hadn’t experienced in a long time.
“Initially, what attracted me to it was Sam Raimi and just this fairly new idea of making a film out of these comic book characters.

Don’t know about you, but I reached a saturation point with Norman Osborn some time ago. Although a great villain, as originally conceived and created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko nearly 60 years ago, writers have struggled to do anything original with him for quite some time. He’s been split personality, downright evil, an anti-hero, a government figure, a business leader, and just a father. He’s been the Green Goblin, Iron Patriot, Red Goblin, plain old Norman Osborn, and now the Gold Goblin. I suspect I’d have a split personality after all that.
This book caught my eye as I wanted to see if Marvel are again just turning the wheel and we’ll end up with big bad Norman, or if this redemption arc we started to see in Spider-Man is real and lasting.

45 years after its release, Dario Argento‘s Suspiria remains one of the most breathtaking horror films ever committed to celluloid. Its unparalleled visuals – vibrantly colored lighting, unconventional camerawork, opulent production design, extravagant death scenes – are complemented by a memorable score from frequent Argento collaborators, Goblin.
Goblin founding keyboardist Claudio Simonetti now performs with a new manifestation of the prolific Italian instrumental act – officially branded as Claudio Simonetti’s Goblin to avoid confusion with the other incarnation of Goblin featuring different legacy members that remains active concurrently.
Simonetti is accompanied by guitarist Daniele Amador, bassist Cecilia Nappo, and drummer Federico Maragoni. To a certain generation of Spider-Man fans, one Goblin stands above all others. It’s not Norman Osborn. It’s not Harry Osborn. Hell, it’s not even a Green Goblin at all. It’s the Hobgoblin, the scene-stealer had captivated readers of The Amazing Spider-Man in the ‘80s and ‘90s with the mystery of his true identity, his unpredictable and violent nature and his spooky costume design. His presence on ‘90s cartoon classic Spider-Man: The Animated Series helped cement him in the minds of fans as a timeless baddie on the level of Doctor Octopus or the wayward members of the Osborn family, and yet he hasn’t been as front and center in recent years as you might expect.

So much of our collective love of horror is grounded in the visual: A splash of gore, an inventive creature design, an image so startling and unexpected it lingers long after the lights come back up. It’s only right for a genre that takes our greatest fears and gives them shape (perhaps even The Shape). But there’s a frightening power in the unseen as well, and many of horror’s crowning achievements have demonstrated that nothing sweetens a scare or ratchets the tension of a chilling set piece quite like a good instrumental score.

As far as horror movie scores are concerned, few are as iconic as John Carpenter's synth-driven masterpiece for "Halloween." The movie's main theme — that ominous tinkling of the piano — is so powerful that not only does it bring to mind scenes of a menacing Michael Myers stalking Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis), but it has also solidified itself as essential October listening whether you're a fan of the "Halloween" franchise or not.
The soundtrack is iconic not just for its killer sound, but also because of how it came to be. Carpenter himself created the music solely out of necessity — the film's minuscule budget didn't have much to spend on the soundtrack — by putting his own musical talents to good use. At the time, he wasn't a bonafide composer by any means, but he managed to pull together an infectiously impressive score that frightens just as much as it gets stuck in your head.

Following up his writing and directing debut, What Can Be Broken Should Be Broken, Rostislav Vaynshtok’s second short film, Praise For My Devourer, will have its world premiere on August 20th at the Popcorn Frights Film Festival as part of their Homegrown Fresh Squeezed Horror segment. As a tease of the things that go bump in the night in this short film, we have an exclusive image gallery, the poster reveal, and a look at the recently released trailer.
Drawing inspiration from Suspiria, Stranger Things, and The Babadook, Vaynshtok’s take on child centered horror is described as "a short and sweet slice of bedtime terror." The film was scored entirely by Vaynshtok as his musical alias "Slavvy." Rostislav will also perform a DJ set as his musical alter ego Slavvy at Popcorn Frights closing party on the rooftop of the Betsy Hotel, featuring unreleased music and classic horror favorites.

His daughter, Valerie paid respects to her father and announced the funeral would take place this weekend in Rome. “It is with indescribable pain, a pain that trumps words, that breaks the breath and hammer the heart, that I announce the death of my father,...

Long after selling the Muppets to Disney and the “Sesame Street” characters to Sesame Workshop, the Jim Henson Co. is busy creating new fare via originals — such as a live-action fantasy series in early development with “The Walking Dead” star Norman Reedus — and existing IP that the company still owns, like “Fraggle Rock.”
In the case of Reedus, the star has worked with creatures for years, fighting zombies on the long-running AMC hit. Now, he’s creating an entirely new universe of characters by teaming up with Brian and Wendy Froud (“The Dark Crystal”) for a project in the works for Henson. The primetime adventure series, intended for a family audience, will feature an entirely new universe of creatures created by the Frouds.
“Norman Reedus, the Frouds [who will create the show’s creatures] and the Jim Henson Company coming together to create a show is the mashup of my dreams,” says Halle Stanford, president of TV at The Jim Henson Company.
