You can help celebrate Martin Scorsese's classic 1990 film when it gets a brand new Blu-ray edition this coming February. Goodfellas will be released in a brand new 20th Anniversary DigiBook Blu-ray edition on February 16. This new edition will be priced at $34.99 Srp, but we don't have any cover art as of yet. It was also said that this new edition will include a 34-page book with photos and facts from the film. The film stars Robert De Niro, Ray Liotta, Joe Pesci and Lorraine Brocco.
Based on Nicholas Pileggi's book Wiseguy, Martin Scorsese's Goodfellas is a wry, violent, and exhilarating film about the life of Henry Hill, an aspiring criminal who ends up in the FBI?s witness protection program after testifying against his former partners. As a poor Irish-Italian growing up in 1950s New York City, Hill rises through the ranks of his Brooklyn neighborhood's organized crime branch, …

Irwin Winkler and 50 Cent are currently immersed in one of the strangest projects in cinema today: making terrible melodramas about the major traumas of the George W. Bush years. First, Winkler partnered with 50 for the hilariously overwrought, barely-released Iraq War movie Home Of The Brave. Now the terrible twosome has re-teamed for the almost inconceivably awful Katrina-sploitation thriller Streets Of Blood, which Irwin executive-produced for son/director Charles. A loathsome exercise in bad taste and shameless cliché-mongering, it’s set apart from the average Steven Seagal direct-to-dvd cheapie only by its setting: the muddy, bloody aftermath of …

According to The Hollywood Reporter Michael Ross is writing the action thriller Disavowed for CBS Films.
Originally, the film was written by Philip Shelby. The film is being produced by Irwin Winkler (Rocky).
The film follows a group of U.S. military prisoners who are sent to the African nation of Eritrea. Their objective is to find a missing bio-chemical weapon. If they can accomplish this, the prisoners will have their sentences commuted.
"It's a really exciting and simple premise," states Ross. "I want to honor that and make a really fun and engaging action movie. That's the goal, is to make it moment-to-moment exciting, take advantage of the location and the simplicity of the plot and the opportunity to work within a really fun genre, which is the man-on-a-mission movie."

With Death Wish being remade by Sylvester Stallone, it was clear that the entire Charles Bronson back catalog is up for grabs ... and the next up is 1973's The Mechanic. Last year, it was also reportedly being redone by Stallone, but it's now in new hands. Unfortunately, they're the hands of Simon West, who has nabbed his second remake job according to Variety. So now you know it'll look more like Con Air and Tomb Raider, and less grim and gritty, though it is being produced and updated by the original Mechanic men, Irwin Winkler and Robert Chartoff.
The upside (to me, anyway) is that it will star the deliciously surly Jason Statham in the lead role -- and frankly, if you are going to remake a Bronson movie, Statham is your man. I think he's the closest we have to the manly men of 70s B-Movies and that we'll …

Simon West will direct Irwin Winkler and Robert Chartoff's update of "The Mechanic." Winkler and Chartoff produced the 1972 original, in which Charles Bronson played a highly skilled -- and massively detached -- hitman who finds himself training the son of one of his victims. Pre-rights to the project were being sold at the Berlin Film Festival in February. Jason Statham is taking the Bronson role in the remake. West, who last directed a remake of "When a Stranger Calls," will begin lensing this summer in Shreveport, La., where Nu Image/Millennium is building a studio. …

Simon West ("When a Stranger Calls") will direct a remake of the 1972 classic which Irwin Winkler and Robert Chartoff are executive producing. Shane Salerno ("Armageddon," "Shaft") wrote the screenplay. The original film starred Charles Bronson who played master hitman who teaches the son of one of his victims who idolizes him, the tools of the trade. Let's hope Salerno does a better job that the absolutely appalling "Avpr: Aliens vs. Predator - Requiem." Lensing starts in Shreveport, Louisiana this summer. …
