Fantastic Mr. Fox is Wes Anderson's sixth feature and third to be pre-judged as a "Wes Anderson" film—a calcified pejorative often bearing little relation to what the movies are actually like. A "Wes Anderson movie," we're given to understand, is a series of candy-colored rectangular sets and frames boxing in little more than statically quirky characters. It's true that Anderson's thematic concerns have been consistent: dysfunctional families, absent/negligent paterfamiliases, '60s pop and rock songs, hermetically detailed mise-en-scène. But there are also meaningful differences between each one, rarely noted in negative reviews convinced Anderson has outstayed his welcome. After The Royal Tenenbaums—in which Rushmore's occasional cuteness thickened into an emotional mausoleum, with only Luke Wilson's suicide attempt breaking through—Anderson made two transitional films entering new terrain. Anderson's detractors didn't notice: two movies about bad fathers and tragic sons with suicidal impulses were two too many. »

In the five films that Wes Anderson has directed, from his 1996 debut feature Bottle Rocket to 2007’s picaresque The Darjeeling Limited, he has managed to assemble a constellation of actors who might best be described as “Wes’s Gang.” This tragicomic fraternity includes Bill Murray, Jason Schwartzman, Anjelica Huston, Luke Wilson, and, of course, his college friend and longtime collaborator OwenWilson. Like Woody Allen before him, Anderson has constructed his own immediately identifiable cinematic landscape, one so distinct that certain clothes, music, expressions, and cleverly awkward situations in the real world can be dubbed as being “very Wes Anderson.” »

On November 10, 1969 in Everett, Massachucets a little girl was born to Kathleen and Joseph Popmeo. The proud parents named her Ellen Kathleen Pompeo; she is the youngest of six. Ellen’s mother passed away when Ellen was just four years-old of a painkiller overdose. Ellen’s father remarried shortly after and the family resided in Boston. Ellen was discovered working at SoHo Bar & Grill in New York City. Doing a couple of minor television roles helped Ellen to see she wanted to be a successful actress so she packed her things and moved to Los Angeles. In a meeting with Jake Gyllenhaal she expressed an interest in wanting to work with him and a few weeks later was cast in Moolight Mile playing Jake’s love interest. She also starred alongside Leonardo DeCaprio in Catch Me If You Can that year. In 2003, Ellen played Karen Page in Daredevil, with Ben Affleck, »

"Battle for Terra" is currently available on DVD and Blu-ray from Roadside Attractions. Based on director Aristomenis Tsirbas's 2003 short film "Terra," the film takes place on the distant planet Terra, a world which the people of Earth have decided to colonize once their own planet becomes uninhabitable. A young Earth pilot (voice of Luke Wilson) lands on Terra to learn that it already has a populace, and they are not interested in giving up their world without a fight. He teams up with native girl Mala (Evan Rachel Wood) to prevent Earth from taking over and ultimately destroying the new paradise he has found.
Besides Wilson and Wood, the all-star cast includes Chris Evans, Danny Glover, Dennis Quaid, Brian Cox, Justin Long, James Garner, Amanda Peet, Rosana Arquette, Mark Hamill, Beverly D'Angelo and David Cross.

The Wilson brothers, Luke and Andrew are set to co-direct a 48 Hours-type buddy comedy about two reporters called Electric Avenue. But wait: We all know Luke and Owen Wilson - who’s this Andrew character?
While Andrew could be considered the least famous Wilson brother (sans the infamous Gummo and Zeppo Wilson), he’s been consistently acting for over twenty years and has had roles in such films as Rushmore (Coach Beck), Zoolander (Hansel’s Corner Guy), Idiocracy (Beef Supreme) and now plays Razor in the upcoming Drew Barrymore directed, Whip It.
This won’t be the Wilson Brothers first foray into directing. Their first co-directing venture came with the 2005 film, The Wendell Baker Story, which Luke Wilson wrote. If your interests have yet to be piqued, maybe this casting teaser will help.

Can you believe it's been almost seven years since Old School was released? I think you can make the case that it saved Vince Vaughn's career and may have legitimized Will Ferrell as a comedic star, and almost immediately, there was sequel talk. Though we didn't ever get a follow-up, Vaughn, Ferrell, and Luke Wilson kept popping up in each other's movies, so we didn't really need one.
Not that we need an Old School 2 now, especially with Ferrell developing a second Anchorman movie, but apparently there's still a chance we'll see it. Vaughn told Collider, "If there is something that’s really great that inspires you than I’d be open to anything, of course.
"I sort of feel like there are a lot of good ideas and different movies to do so I’d definitely like to and look forward to doing something with [director Todd Phillips] again, but whether »

When everyone goes to see Drew Barrymore's Whip It (which everyone better do) later this year, one of the most memorable appearances will be that of Andrew Wilson, one of the three Wilson brothers who hasn't been in anything since Mike Judge's Idiocracy. MTV caught up with Andrew in Toronto to talk about Whip It but ended up getting an interesting scoop about another new project called Electric Avenue (not to be confused with Eddy Grant's song) that he will direct and his brother Luke Wilson will be starring in. "I'm gonna direct again. Luke and I are going to do something... called Electric Avenue starting [next year]." Andrew wouldn't reveal who else is in the cast yet, but did say at least that it'll star his brother Luke Wilson. MTV thinks it could be the third brother, Owen Wilson, but I don't buy that just yet. So what »

Brothers Luke Wilson and Owen Wilson are frequently in the news for one reason or another, but it's a rare day that we reporters get to speak with the other Wilson brother, Andrew. He works in Hollywood, just like his siblings. He's had roles in "Fever Pitch," Mike Judge's "Idiocracy," "The Royal Tenenbaums," "Zoolander" and Drew Barrymore's upcoming directorial debut, "Whip It." He even co-directed 2005's "The Wendell Baker Story" with Luke.
Now, brothers Luke and Andrew are all set to direct together again. Speaking with MTV's Josh Horowitz while promoting "Whip It," Andrew revealed the first details on "Electric Avenue.
Hit the jump for more on this Wilson-driven project.

The director talks about the upcoming DVD and Blu-ray release of his animated sci-fi epic
This September 22nd, director Aristomenis Tsirbas' original sci-fi animated epic Battle for Terra hits both DVD and Blu-ray for the first time. The film tells the story of Senn (Justin Long) and Mala (Evan Rachel Wood), two rebellious alien teens living on the beautiful planet Terra, a place that promotes peace and tolerance, having long ago rejected war and weapons of mass destruction. But when human beings fleeing a civil war and environmental catastrophe invade Terra, the planet is plunged into chaos. During the upheaval, Mala befriends an injured human pilot (Luke Wilson) and each learns the two races are not so different from one another. Together they must face the terrifying realization that in a world of limited resources, only one of their races is likely to survive. We recently caught up with »

Oh great, just what we need... another superhero comedy. I probably would have brushed right by this next bit of news if not for the fact that it happens to be written and directed by James Gunn (Slither). The movie is called Super and it is about a normal man who decides to become a superhero named Crimson Bolt, in order to win back his wife from the clutches of a "charming drug dealer". Since he doesn't actually have any super powers, he kicks ass using a wrench. Hasn't this idea been done to death already? Rainn Wilson has signed on to play Crimson Bolt, which frankly, doesn't have me all that excited either. His first full starring vehicle The Rocker looked pretty terrible, and bombed at the box office. Liv Tyler will play his wife, while Ellen Page, on the other hand, is now confirmed to be playing Crimson Bolt's sidekick, »

It’s a special thing when you see a great movie not knowing anything about it ahead of time. When my girlfriend and I ducked into a dank shopping mall movie theater to see “Office Space” back in 1999, we weren’t expecting anything special. I didn’t know that it was going to be one of the single best comedies made in the past twenty years. I also didn’t know it was made by the same dude who created “Beavis and Butthead.” Even after seeing it so many times, I can’t cram both efforts under the same creative umbrella.
Much of the humor in “Office Space” humor comes from the same place as “Beavis and Butthead,” especially the duo's big screen episode, “Beavis and Butthead Do America.” Watching the interplay between socially retarded morons and exasperated individuals with common sense is funny; it's the foundation for much of Judge's comedy. »

Let me just pause for a moment to remind readers that Predators is being directed by a dude named Nimrod. Pause. Okay, now that that.s out of the way, let.s talk about how awesome it is that the Predator franchise has finally been put in the hands of a couple of decently talented individuals. There.s Robert Rodriguez (on board as producer), of course, who seems to know exactly how to make an effective horror film. Then there.s Nimrod Antal, who directed Vacancy, a slightly cliché and illogical yet surprisingly competent thriller/horror film starring Luke Wilson. Now Predators has an actual release. Fox has decided to put the new flick right in the heart of next summer. According to Hollywood North Report, Fox will release the movie on July 7, 2010. Written by Alex Litvak and Michael Finch, the movie will follow a group of humans who have »

"Predators" is going to start its production soon. Production Weekly, via its Twitter page, has informed that the new extraterrestrial thriller film will begin shooting in late September. The publication additionally mentioned that its principal photography will take place at producer Robert Rodriguez's studio in Austin, Texas.
"Nimrod Antal is scheduled to being filming on Fox's reboot of 'Predators,' on Sept 28th at Robert Rodriguez's Troublemaker Studios in Austin," read the statement on the Twitter page. The sci-fi movie will be directed by Antal whose first American film was Kate Beckinsale and Luke Wilson's "Vacancy", while Robert Rodriguez will serve as the producer.
Plan of making the reboot of the "Predator" series was first confirmed by Rodriguez in April. Soon after, it was announced that 20th Century Fox planned to release the reboot on July 7, 2010. So far, the studio has not named any actors/actress for the cast ensemble, »

A couple of months ago it was announced that a director had been found for the upcoming Predators reboot/sequel in the form of Nimrod Antal. The Vacancy director was just one of many that was in the running to direct the highly sought-after project, with another notable naming being The Descent helmer, Neil Marshall (who I, and many other fans, strongly favored).
With Robert Rodriguez on-board to produce (he was also rumored to be directing at one point), Antal on-board to direct, and Alex Litvak and Michael Finch having written it, it looks like Predators is definitely on the way. And now Production Weekly is reporting a shooting start date (and location) for the film: September 28th, 2009 at Rodriguez’s Troublemaker Studios in Austin, Texas.
Predators is being said to be about a “very intense group of people stranded on a Predator planet discovering unspeakable horrors - that are »

While some filmmakers spend their entire careers maximizing the succinct pleasures of the short film, others start out by making shorts that they hope will maximize their chances of becoming a feature film director. This week alone will see the feature debuts of two directors who have turned their short films into full-length one -- Neill Blomkamp, whose 2005 socially conscious alien invasion tale "Alive in Joburg" has been turned into the Peter Jackson-produced "District 9," and Paul Solet, whose 2006 horror short "Grace," about a mother who refuses to give up on her miscarriage has morphed into a feature of the same name starring Jordan Ladd. Here's a look at ten other notable shorts that got the full feature treatment.

Mike Judge created the cult classic Office Space, so when his follow-up movie, Idiocracy, was completely buried by 20th Century Fox, fans called B.S. and demanded it be seen. Unfortunately, fans were wrong. Now that it makes regular appearances on Comedy Central, I've seen Idiocracy, and it's a really annoying mess of a movie. Luke Wilson can't seem to catch a break, I guess. That's what makes the tagline for Judge's new film, Extract, so appealing: "the creator of Office Space heads back to work." You know what else is appealing? Jason Bateman, Mila Kunis, Kristen Wiig, J.K. Simmons, and Ben ... »
